Okanagan Hockey Academy (8-1-0) vs RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna (19-2-0) U17

Separated by an hour long drive and just one spot in the rankings, first place RHA Kelowna (Kelowna, BC) will host second place OHA (Penticton, BC). This will be the first match-up of the season between the two squads as they play a triple-header this weekend.

RHA Kelowna has been firing on all cylinders this season with the leagues five leading scorers and seven of the top nine. Maximilian Koppel (18-20-38) leads all skaters with 20 assists and 38 points while Aiden Andrews (19-18-37) has a U17 best 19 goals. Kesler Hamilton (12-19-31) sits third in scoring and his 1.94 Pts/GP leads his team. Mason Alexander (8-19-27) and Bennett Macek (12-14-26) round out the top five. Colton Deschamps (7-17-24) leads all U17 defensemen in goals, assists and points, with four of his fellow teammates rounding out the top five scoring defensemen. In net William Stewart (11-1-0) has suffered just 1 loss while posting 2 shutouts, a 1.83 GAA and .920 SV%.

While a handful of RHA Kelowna skaters find their names at the top of the leaderboard, Jaxson Bartsch (8-11-19) and Gage Kiselbach (6-12-18) will likely see their names near the top come seasons end. The OHA forwards lead the U17 division with a 2.11 and 2.00 Pts/GP average, but have played just 9 games compared to RHA Kelowna’s 21. Cooper Vogt (3-7-10) sits seventh in U17 with a 1.67 Pts/GP and Luke Edgehouse (3-7-10) is fourth among defensemen with a 1.11 Pts/GP. Goaltenders Tyson Kuiack (4-1-0) and Alex Youngson (4-0-0) have split the time between the pipes, combining for a 2.56 GAA, .881 SV% and 1 shutout.

Saturday, November 16, 2024 – 2:15pm PST: Okanagan Hockey Training Centre

12th ranked OHA (Penticton, BC) will host 7th ranked STAR Hockey Academy (Seattle, WA) in their second match-up of the season, with their first taking place the day before.

After joining the CSSHL in the U15 division for the 2023/24 season, STAR is in their inaugural season in the U15 Prep division. The 2010 loaded American side is led by forward Daniel Makovetskiy (12-14-26), a 2023/24 U15 (BC/US Division) First Team All-Star. Makovetskiy is the only STAR skater with 20-plus points, though forwards Lincoln Angst (12-5-17), Braxton Baker (11-6-17), Levi Ellingsen (7-10-17), Ronin Brunner (4-13-17) and Blaise Weibye (3-9-12) are all double digit point producers. Delta Hockey Academy Green (6-4-1) vs RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna (9-0-0) Female U18 Prep

Delta Green (Delta, BC) and RHA Kelowna (Kelowna, BC) have played twice previously this season, with RHA Kelowna winning both games in Vernon, BC by a score of 3-1. The second place Delta Green will host first place RHA Kelowna on Friday and Saturday before the Featured Game of the Day Sunday.

Delta Green is led by Team BC netminders Jillian Matthews (2-3-0) and Maisie Cope (4-1-1), who was named the 2023/24 CSSHL Female U18 Prep Top Goaltender. The duo have combined for a 1.91 GAA, .933 SV% and 1 shutout this season. Now in her fourth CSSHL season, Molly Cole (10-5-15) has tallied a team high 10 goals and 15 points. Defenseman Sadie Isfeld’s (7-3-0) seven goals led all Female U18 Prep defensemen this season. While the Delta Green offence might lack the star power of their opponent, 12 skaters have at least five points this season as the unit relies on its depth. Despite their slow starts offensively, look for Minnesota State University commit Katie Olfert (4-3-7) and Cornell University commit London McDavid (3-4-7) to make an impact sooner, rather than later, this season.

Coming off their third straight CSSHL Female U18 Prep Western Championship, RHA Kelowna has started the season off by going undefeated through their first nine games. But for the first time in eight seasons their will be a new head coach behind the bench as Garrett Festerling replaces Kris Hogg who recently left to join Clarkson University as an assistant coach in the NCAA. Among the 20 RHA Kelowna players include a CSSHL best 15 who represented their province last week at the 2024 U18 Women’s National Championships. 2008 born forwards Alida Korte (7-16-23) and Hayley McDonald (10-10-20) pace the RHA Kelowna offence, sitting third and fourth in league scoring. Danica Maynard (4-8-12), Team BC captain and Top Defenseman at the U18 Women’s National Championships, is tied with 2009 born Ava McDermid (0-12-12) for the lead on the RHA Kelowna blueline.
