Former CSSHL student-athletes Carson Bjarnason and Aidan De La Gorgendiere have signed professional contracts.

Bjarnason, a second round, 51st overall pick at the 2023 NHL Draft has signed an NHL Entry Level Contract with the Philadelphia Flyers. The Carberry, MB netminder is currently in his third Western Hockey League (WHL) season with the Brandon Wheat Kings. In 72 career WHL games Bjarnason has a 30-30-6 record, 3 shutouts, .894 SV% and 3.37 GAA.

Prior to his time in the WHL, Bjarnason played the 2020/21 CSSHL U16 Prep season with RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg. In聽 games he would post a 2.01 GAA and .914 SV%.

A defenceman from Abbotsford, BC, De La Gorgendiere spent three seasons in the CSSHL. He joined Delta Hockey Academy for the 2015/16 U15 season, recording 28 points in 24 games. He would add one point in four playoff games as Delta captured a 2016 CSSHL Western U15 Championship.

De La Gorgendiere would suit-up for the Yale Hockey Academy U15 Prep team the following season, finishing with 26 points in 30 games. The Saskatoon Blades would then select him in the first round, fifth overall at the 2017 WHL Draft. De La Gorgendiere would spend one more season with Yale, tallying 17 points in 19 U18 Prep games.

In 2018/19 he would join the Blades, spending five seasons with the team, including two as team captain. In 248 WHL games De La Gorgendiere finished with 22 goals and 133 assists. In 2022/23 he had a career season, recording 65 points in 65 games.

The Atlanta Gladiators have signed De La Gorgendiere for the 2023/24 ECHL season.

Former CSSHL student-athletes Cole Dubinsky and Riley Ginnell have signed ECHL Contracts ahead of the 2023/24 season.

Dubinsky originally joined the CSSHL with Okanagan Hockey Academy for the 2015/16 U15 Prep season, recording 8 points in 25 games. The Ardrossan, AB forward would return home in 2016/17, playing for the OHA Edmonton U15 Prep season. After recording 30 points in 22 games that season the Regina Pats would select him in the fourth round, 79th overall at the 2017 Western Hockey League (WHL) Draft. Dubinsky would finish his CSSHL career with the Delta Hockey Academy U18 Prep team, tallying 30 points in 34 games.

Dubinsky would go on to play 203 WHL games with the Pats, recording 103 points during that time. He would finish his WHL career with the Prince George Cougars, totalling 25 points in 29 games with the team this season. Dubinsky has signed with the Maine Mariners for the 2023/24 season.

Ginnell played one season in the CSSHL with the Edge School U18 Prep team. That season the Calgary, AB forward would score 10 goals and assist on 9 more in 24 games. Selected in the seventh round, 151st overall by the Kamloops Blazers at the 2017 WHL Draft, Ginnell would begin his WHL career in 2019/20 with the Brandon Wheat Kings. He would play 113 games and tally 47 points over 4 seasons with the club. He would split the 2022/23 seasons with the Moose Jaw Warriors and Regina, ending his season with 19 points in 50 games.

The Rapid City Rush have signed Ginnell for the 2023/24 ECHL season.

Former CSSHL student-athlete Tanner Brown has signed a contract in the ECHL with the Florida Everblades.

Brown spent two seasons in the CSSHL, joining Pursuit of Excellence (POE) for the 2016/17 U15 Prep season. In 26 games the Kelowna, BC defenseman would record 29 points. He would add four assists in four playoff games as POE captured the 2017 CSSHL U15 Prep Western Championship.

At the conclusion of the season the Vancouver Giants would select Brown in the second round, 24th overall at the 2017 Western Hockey League (WHL) Draft.

In 2018/19 Brown would suit-up for the Delta Hockey Academy U18 Prep team, tallying 21 points in 29 games. Having already played 14 games the last two seasons for the Giants as an affiliate player, Brown would join the team full time in 2019/20. He would spend two and a half seasons with the Giants, tallying 26 points in 113 games.

After beginning the 2021/22 season in Vancouver, Brown would join the Winnipeg Ice for the remainder of the season, recording 12 points in 33 games. He would begin the 2022/23 season with the Red Deer Rebels where he would produce six assists in five games. He would finish his junior career with the Regina Pats, scoring 4 goals and adding 23 assists in 58 games.

Former Delta Hockey Academy student-athlete Kurtis Smythe has committed to Mount Royal University for the 2023/24 season.

Smythe spent four seasons in the CSSHL with Delta, originally joining the program in 2015/16. That U15 season he would record 14 points in 24 games before adding 1 point in 4 playoff games as Delta captured the 2016 CSSHL U15 Western Championships.

The following U15 Prep season the Cloverdale, BC defender recorded 17 points in 30 games while being selected in the second round, 42nd overall by the Saskatoon Blades at the 2017 Western Hockey League (WHL) Draft.

Smythe would spent the 2017/18 and 2018/19 seasons with the Delta U18 Prep team tallying 27 points in 65 games.

In 2019/20 Smythe would join the Portland Winterhawks, recording 31 points in 121 WHL games over four seasons with the team. Early in the 2022/23 campaign Smythe would head to the Medicine Hat Tigers, finishing his WHL career with the organization, recording 13 points in 57 games.

Located in Calgary, AB, Mount Royal University competed in the Canada West Conference of U SPORTS.

Former Edge School student-athlete Samuel McGinley has committed to the University of New Brunswick for the 2023/24 U SPORTS season.

A fifth round pick by the Regina Pats at the 2017 Western Hockey League (WHL) Draft, McGinley joined Edge School for the 2017/18 U16 Prep season. In 36 games the Calgary, AB product would finish third among all CSSHL defensemen with 40 points. His 33 assists were second on his team, most among defensemen.

The following U18 Prep season McGinley would lead Edge defensemen with 10 goals and 29 points in 29 games. He would play three games for the Pats that season, assisting on one goal.

In 2019/20 he would begin the season with the Pats, playing eight games. He would join the Swift Current Broncos for the remainder of the season, tallying 12 points in 39 games.

McGinley would play his last three full WHL seasons with the Broncos, finishing his WHL career with 77 points in 195 games including a career high 37 points this season.

Located in Fredericton and Saint John, NB, the University of New Brunswick is a U SPORTS program competing in the Atlantic University Sport Conference.

Hewlett spent two seasons in the CSSHL with BWC Academy. The Port Moody, BC defenseman joined the program in 2017/18 with their U16 Prep team. In 32 games Hewlett would tally 9 goals and 19 assists.

A eighth round selection, 164th overall by the Victoria Royals at the 2017 Western Hockey League (WHL) Draft, Hewlett would record 16 points in 23 U18 Prep games with BWC Academy during the 2018/19 season.

Simon Fraser University is located in Burnaby, BC.

Former 麻豆传媒入口 (CSSHL) student-athletes Logan Dowhaniuk, Dante Giannuzzi and Trevor Thurston have signed ECHL Contracts.

Dowhaniuk has signed with the Fort Wayne Komets after spending the last five seasons in the Western Hockey League (WHL). Originally selected in the second round, 26th overall at the 2017 WHL Draft, Dowhaniuk recorded 22 goals and 79 assists in 248 WHL games split between the Edmonton Oil Kings and Moose Jaw Warriors. The Sherwood Park, AB defender was part of the Oil Kings WHL Championship winning team in 2021/22.

Dowhaniuk spent one season in the CSSHL with the OHA Edmonton U18 Prep team, recording 7 goals and 10 assists in 36 games.

A goaltender from Winnipeg, MB, Giannuzzi spent three seasons in the CSSHL with RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg. Joining the program in 2016/17 with the RHA Winnipeg U15 Prep team, Giannuzzi would also suit up for their U16 Prep and U18 Prep teams. In total he would play 48 games for RHA Winnipeg, earning a 29-14-0 record with 5 shutouts.

Giannuzzi would spend the majority of his junior career with the Portland Winterhawks, the team that drafted him in the fifth round, 99th overall at the 2017 WHL Draft. In 5 WHL seasons Giannuzzi would finish with a 59-32-10 record, 3.07 GAA, .896 SV% and 5 shutouts.

The Utah Grizzlies have signed Giannuzzi for the 2023/24 ECHL season.

Selected in the fourth round, 81st overall by the Kamloops Blazers at the 2017 WHL Draft, Thurston would play 107 WHL games with the Blazers, Lethbridge Hurricanes and Prince Albert Raiders. He would finish the 2022/23 season in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) with the Cape Breton Eagles, tallying 21 points in 48 games.

Thurston played four seasons in the CSSHL with Delta Hockey Academy, recording 105 points split between 100 games at the U15, U15 Prep, U16 Prep and U18 Prep levels. Thurston would win a CSSHL U15 Championship in 2015/16.

The North Delta, BC defenseman has signed with the Reading Royals for next season.

The San Diego Gulls have signed former 麻豆传媒入口 (CSSHL) student-athlete Kyle Crnkovic to a one year American Hockey League (AHL) Contract.

Crnkovic originally joined the CSSHL in 2016/17 with the Pursuit of Excellence (POE) U15 Prep team. That season he would finish second on his team and in league scoring with 79 points in 30 games. He would add 17 points in 5 playoff games as POE captured the 2017 CSSHL U15 Prep Western Championship. At the conclusion of the season Crnkovic would be selected in the first round, 10th overall at the 2017 Western Hockey League (WHL) Draft by the Saskatoon Blades.

In 2017/18 the Calgary, AB forward would join the Northern Alberta Xtreme (NAX) U18 Prep team. He would finish seventh in league scoring, tallying 64 points in 30 games. Crnkovic would score seven goals and assist on five more in five playoff games as NAX captured the 2018 CSSHL U18 Prep Western Championships.

Crnkovic would become a WHL regular in 2018/19, playing in 52 games with the Blades and recording 31 points. He would play five games for Team Canada Black at the World Under 17 Challenge, tallying five points.

In 2019/20 Crnkovic would finish second in team scoring with 64 points in 63 games, while leading all Blades skaters with 43 assists. The following season he would play 24 games, finishing with 32 points, 9 more than the next highest on his team.

2021/22 would see Crnkovic be named a WHL (East) First Team All-Star, leading his team in scoring and finishing fifth amongst all skaters with 94 points in 68 WHL games.

Prior to the 2022/23 season Crnkovic was traded to the Seattle Thunderbirds where he finished fourth in team scoring with 68 points in 67 games. He would play 19 playoff games with the Thunderbirds, scoring 6 goals and adding 10 assists as he helped his team captured a WHL Championship. Crnkovic was named to the CHL Memorial Cup All-Star Team after leading his team to a birth in the Memorial Cup Finals.

Former Northern Alberta Xtreme (NAX) student-athlete Jarod Newell has committed to Red Deer College for the 2023/24 season.

A fourth round pick by the Tri-City Americans at the 2017 Western Hockey League (WHL) Draft, Newell joined the NAX U16 Prep team for the 2017/18 麻豆传媒入口 (CSSHL) season. In 29 regular season games the Wainwright, AB defenseman would tally 2 goals and 20 assists. In five playoff games with NAX he would assist one goal to help his team capture the 2018 CSSHL U16 Prep Western Championship.

In 2018/19 Newell would join Tri-City for his first season in the WHL, recording 2 points in 44 games. He would start the following season split between the Americans and Kelowna Rockets before heading to the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) with the Camrose Kodiaks, finishing with 6 assists in 23 games.

After playing just six AJHL games in 2020/21 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Newell would record 13 points in 38 games with the Kodiaks before returning to the WHL with the Winnipeg Ice. In 15 games with the Ice he would tally 1 assist.

This season Newell played 56 games with the Kodiaks recording 1 goal and 17 assists.

Located in Reed Deer, AB, Red Deer College are the current defending Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) champions.

Former Northern Alberta Xtreme (NAX) student-athlete Noah Lamb has committed to the SAIT Trojans for the 2023/24 season.

Lamb joined NAX for the 2017/18 麻豆传媒入口 (CSSHL) U16 Prep season. A sixth round, 118th overall 2017 Western Hockey League (WHL) Draft Pick by the Victoria Royals, Lamb would record 4 goals and 24 assists in 30 games. He would add two points in five playoff games as NAX captured the 2018 CSSHL U16 Prep Western Championship.

After playing in two Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) games with the Camrose Kodiaks and seven WHL games with the Royals in 2018/19, Lamb would join the Royals full time in 2019/20, assisting on 2 goals in 46 games. He would play six games with the team in 2020/21, again assisting on two goals.

He would start the 2021/22 season in the WHL with the Swift Current Broncos before finishing the year in the AJHL with the Drayton Valley Thunder. In 26 AJHL games the Edmonton, AB defenseman would tally 13 points.

This season in 44 AJHL games with the Thunder Lamb would score 1 goal and assist on 23 more.
