12 former 麻豆传媒入口 (CSSHL) student-athletes faced-off for gold with their respective Team Canada Red and Canada White squads at the 2024 U17 World Challenge.

Team Canada White would go on to beat Team Canada Red 3-1 Saturday in the gold medal match with eight CSSHL alumni winning gold, and four taking home silver.

The 12 CSSHL alumni represented six different CSSHL member programs: Okanagan Hockey Academy (3), RHA Kelowna (3), Edge School (2), Northern Alberta Xtreme (2), Delta Hockey Academy, and Pilot Mound Hockey Academy.

Canada Red:

  • Carson Carels, Prince George Cougars (Pilot Mound Hockey Academy)
  • Landon DuPont, Everett Silvertips (Edge School)
  • Joe Iginla, Edmonton Oil Kings (RHA Kelowna)
  • Cruz Pavao, Tri-City Americans (Edge School)

Canada White:

  • Riley Boychuk, Prince Albert Raiders (Northern Alberta Xtreme)
  • Ryan Lin, Vancouver Giants (Delta Hockey Academy)
  • Liam Ruck, Medicine Hat Tigers (Okanagan Hockey Academy)
  • Giorgos Pantelas, Brandon Wheat Kings (RHA Kelowna)
  • Mathis Preston, Spokane Chiefs (Okanagan Hockey Academy)
  • Markus Ruck, Medicine Hat Tigers (Okanagan Hockey Academy)
  • Daxon Rudolph, Prince Albert Raiders (Northern Alberta Xtreme)
  • Keaton Verhoeff, Victoria Royals (RHA Kelowna)

The tournament, took place November 3-9 at Progressive Auto Sales Arena in Sarnia, ON, seeing 44 players represent Team Canada White and Team Canada Red.

Canada White started the tournament with a 6-2 win over Czechia. They would lose their second game 5-4 in overtime to Sweden, setting up a quarter-final matchup with Finland. They would defeat Finland 4-2 before getting revenge on Sweden in the semi-finals with a 6-4 win.

Canada Red went 2-0 in the round robin with a 3-1 win over Finland and 6-3 win over the USA. They would earn a bye to the semi’s, once again defeating the USA 7-3 to set-up the all Canada final.

Preston led all skaters with six goals, including the game winner of the gold medal game, while Keaton Verhoeff (Canada White) and Landon DuPont (Canada Red) were named captains of their respective teams.

DuPont, Preston and Verhoeff were all named to the tournament All-Star team.

This was the second time Lin, Preston, L. Ruck, M. Ruck, Rudolph, and Verhoeff represented Team Canada, having previously done so at the 2024 Youth Olympics.

The 2023 U17 World Challenge saw 13 CSSHL alumni compete for Team Canada Red and White.聽
