Harkness spent the 2017/18 season in the 麻豆传媒入口 (CSSHL) with the Edge School U17 Prep team. In 13 games the Calgary, AB netminder posted a 3.98 Goals Against Average (GAA) and .910 Save Percentage (SV%).

He would join OHO for the 2018/19 season before making the jump to junior in 2019/20 with the Brockville Braves in the Central Canada Hockey League (CCHL) where he would post a 2.66 GAA and .913 SV% in 10 games.

Harkness has spent the last two seasons in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League (MJHL) with the Steinbach Pistons, posting a 2.52 GAA, .906 SV% and 3 shutouts in 25 games played.
