Delta Hockey Academy has captured their second title of the 2025 麻豆传媒入口 (CSSHL) Western Championships, winning the U17 Division II.

Delta came into the Division II Championships as the two seed going a perfect 4-0 in the round robin.聽BWC Academy was ranked third and went 3-1 in the round robin, with their lone loss coming at the hands of Delta.

Each team won three games head-to-head during the regular season, with Delta winning the lone Championships matchup to give them a 4-3 series advantage heading into the finals.

Jack Traince opened the scoring for Delta 5:06 into the first with his second goal of these Championships. Jacob Napoleon would even the score just 38 seconds later with his third goal in five games.

The two teams started the second period tied 1-1 until Lincoln Arkinstall scored on the power play 2:55 into the period. Delta would outshoot BWC Academy 13-8 in the second, holding their one goal lead.

BWC Academy would flip the script in the third as they outshot Delta 14-6 and got a game tying goal with 4:19 left as Kijin Cho buried a rebound to send the game to overtime.

In overtime, a BWC Academy penalty would give Delta a power play opportunity to win the game. Delta would take full advantage as an Arkinstall shot bounced off Ewan Torrance and past Liam Kellett (29/32) into the open cage to give Delta the 3-2 win.

Lynden Mercier (29/31) made 29 saves for the win.

With the win, Delta captured their second title of these playoffs, and ninth ever.

At just six years old, Chase Henderson was diagnosed with Stargardt disease, a degenerative retinal condition that causes significant vision loss. Despite this daunting challenge, Chase’s love for hockey never wavered. His journey is a testament to his resilience and determination, as he continues to persevere in all aspects of his life.

Chase’s athletic prowess extends beyond hockey; he has played soccer, lacrosse, basketball, and even practiced martial arts. However, hockey has always held a special place in his heart. His success in sports has not come easily. Chase has had to navigate the world in a unique way, learning Braille in second grade and mastering cane skills for mobility the following year.

The barriers Chase faces are numerous, but he never complains. Instead, he has learned to adapt and cope with his surroundings to achieve his goals. Despite being legally blind, Chase excels on the ice, finding his teammates to make plays, scoring goals, and winning most of the face-offs he takes.

Chase is currently in his first season in the 麻豆传媒入口 (CSSHL) with the BWC Academy U15 team. In 36 regular season games the Burnaby, BC forward recorded 5 goals and 21 assists.
