Five 麻豆传媒入口 (CSSHL) alumni have signed professional hockey contracts.

Ethan Edwards, Charlie Elick, Trey Taylor and Matthew Wood have all signed NHL Entry Level Contracts, while Evan Friesen has signed in the ECHL.

Selected in the fourth round, 120th overall at the 2020 NHL Draft by the New Jersey Devils, Edwards has signed a two year contract with the team. The St. Albert, AB defenseman has spent the last four seasons in the NCAA with the University of Michigan, tallying 56 points in 130 games.

Edwards spent two seasons in the CSSHL with the Northern Alberta Xtreme (NAX), capturing a U16 Prep Championship in 2018. Overall, he would play 63 games split between the NAX U16 Prep and U18 Prep teams, recording 49 points.

Elick has signed with the Columbus Blue Jackets after they selected him in the second round, 36th overall at the 2024 NHL Draft. The Calgary, AB defenseman joined Edge School in 2020/21, playing with their U15 Prep team. In 2021/22 he would tally 25 points in 26 U18 Prep games while being named the CSSHL U18 Prep Top Freshman Award winner.

The Brandon Wheat Kings would select Elick with the third overall pick at the 2021 WHL Draft where he would spend his first two-and-a-half WHL season before joining the Tri-City Americans midway through this year. In 196 career WHL games Elick has 10 goals and 45 assists.

Undrafted to the NHL, Taylor has signed a contract with the Dallas Stars. Taylor spent the 2017/18 season with the Delta Hockey Academy U16 Prep team, posting 12 goals and 16 assists in 35 games.

The Richmond, BC defender would join Clarkson University of the NCAA in 2022/23, playing three seasons with the team. In 110 NCAA games Taylor finished with 16 goals and 38 assists while being named the NCAA (ECAC) Best Defensive Defenseman and a Second Team All-Star in 2023/24.

Woods spent the 2019/20 CSSHL U15 Prep season with the West Van Warriors (now the North Shore Warriors), finishing second in the league in goals (40) and fourth in points (71) in 30 games. At the conclusion of the season the Regina Pats selected Wood in the second round, 41st overall at the 2020 WHL Draft. However, Wood took the NCAA route.

TheLethbridge, AB forward spent two seasons with the University of Connecticut before transferring to the University of Minnesota this season. In 109 NCAA games Wood recorded 44 goals and 57 assists while being named to the NCAA (Hockey East) All-Rookie Team in 2022/23.

Selected in the first round, 15th overall at the 2023 NHL Draft by the Predators, Wood has represented Team Canada on three separate occasions: twice with the U18 Team, and once with the World Juniors Team.

A forward from Winnipeg, MB, Friesen has signed an ECHL Contract with the Utah Grizzlies. Friesen has played two games with the team already, having played one with them last season.

Undrafted to the WHL, Friesen has spent the last four seasons in the top junior hockey league in Western Canada. This season he would captain the Wenatchee Wild, finishing with 61 points in 66 games. In total, Friesen had 146 points in 240 WHL games.

Prior to his time in the WHL, Friesen spent two seasons in the CSSHL with RHA Winnipeg, playing for their U15 Prep and U16 Prep teams. In 66 CSSHL games he would record 14 goals and 20 assists.

Former RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna student-athlete Evan Gardner has signed an NHL Entry Level Contract with the Columbus Blue Jackets.

The Blue Jackets drafted the Fort St. John, BC netmidner in the second round, 60th overall at the 2024 NHL Draft.

Gardner spent five seasons in the 麻豆传媒入口 (CSSHL) with RHA Kelowna. He joined the program in 2018/19, playing 20 U15 games for the program, which at the time was still called Pursuit of Excellence (POE). He returned to POE in 2019/20, playing 16 U15 Prep games. The following COVID-19 shortened season with RHA Kelowna, he would play two U15 Prep games.

In 2021/22 he would make the jump to RHA Kelowna’s U18 Prep team, posting a 2.98 GAA, .914 SV% and 14-3-1 record, leading to the Saskatoon Blades selecting him in the third round, 53rd overall at the 2021 WHL Draft. He would return to the RHA Kelowna U18 Prep team the following season, going 9-5-1 with a .926 SV% and 3.16 GAA.

Gardner would begin his WHL career with the Blades in 2023/24, posting a 21-5-0 record with a 1.91 GAA, .927 V% and 4 shutouts. Both his 1.91 GAA and .927 SV% were a WHL best.

This season Gardner has went 22-12-4 with a .911 SV%, 2.83 GAA and 3 shutouts with the Blades.

Former OHA Edmonton teammates Corson Ceulemans and Kyle Masters have signed NHL Entry Level Contracts.

Ceulemans has signed his contract with the Columbus Blue Jackets after they selected him in the first round, 25th overall at the 2021 NHL Entry Draft. Masters was selected by the Minnesota Wild in the fourth round, 118th at the 2021 NHL Entry Draft and signed with them on March 9, 2023.

The two defensemen were teammates in the 麻豆传媒入口 (CSSHL) for the 2017/18 U15 Prep and 2018/19 U18 Prep seasons with OHA Edmonton.聽 In 2017/18 Ceulemans would record 31 points in 30 games while Masters would finish with 24 in 29 games played. The pair would help lead OHA Edmonton to a 2018 CSSHL U15 Prep Western Championship.

At the conclusion of the season Masters would be selected by the Red Deer Rebels in the first round, 16th overall at the 2018 Western Hockey League (WHL) Draft. The Moose Jaw Warriors would select Ceulemans in the fifth round, 100th overall.

Ceulemans and Masters would return to OHA Edmonton for the 2018/19 U18 Prep season where OHA Edmonton would make it to the CSSHL Western Championship Finals. Ceulemans would finish with 29 points in 30 games, while Masters would add 20 in 35. They would both help Team Alberta capture Bronze at the 2019 Canada Winter Games.

The following season would see the pair go their separate ways with Ceulemans joining the Brooks Bandits in the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) and Masters joining the Rebels in the WHL.

Ceulemans would spend two seasons with the Bandits, recording 46 points in 52 games. In 2020/21 he would represent Team Canada at the U18 World Championships, leading all defenseman with seven assists as Canada captured gold. He would join the University of Wisconsin for the 2021/22 and 2022/23 NCAA Division I seasons, adding 45 points in 67 games. After signing his NHL Contract with Columbus, Ceulemans made his professional hockey debut in the American Hockey League (AHL) with the Cleveland Monsters.

Masters joined the Rebels in 2019/20 and would play 109 WHL games for the team, finishing his career there with 27 points. In the summer leading up to the 2022/23 season Masters would be traded to the Kamloops Blazers, the hosts of the 2023 Memorial Cup. This season Masters has tallied 64 points in 63 games with the Blazers.

The Columbus Blue Jackets have signed Kent Johnson to a National Hockey League (NHL) Entry Level contract after they selected Johnson in the first round, 5th overall at the 2021 NHL Entry Draft.

Johnson spent the 2017/18 season in the 麻豆传媒入口 (CSSHL) with the BWC Academy U18 Prep team. Johnson would finish tied for the league lead in scoring with 75 points in 35 CSSHL games.

The Port Moody, BC forward would join the Trail Smoke Eaters for the 2018/19 British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL) season, finishing with 46 points in 57 games, while being named to the BCHL All-Rookie Team.

Johnson would have a monster 2019/20 BCHL season, leading the league in goals (41), assists (60) and assists (101), winning the BCHL Most Sportsmanlike Player and BCHL Most Valuable Player, while being named to the BCHL First Team All-Star, and capturing the CJHL Top Forward award.

In 2020/21 Johnson would join NCAA Division I program, the University of Michigan. In 26 games Johnson would finish with 27 points on way to being named to the NCAA (B1G) All-Rookie Team and NCAA (B1G) Honorable Mention All-Star Team.

This season, Johnson would play 32 games, finishing with 8 goals and 29 assists for the University of Michigan.

The Columbus Blue Jackets have signed one of their three first round picks in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft as they have agreed to terms with Cole Sillinger on an Entry Level Contract.

Sillinger spent the 2017/18 season in the 麻豆传媒入口 (CSSHL) playing for the Okanagan Hockey Academy (OHA) U15 Prep team. In 30 games he would score 46 goals and add 37 assists, finishing fourth in league scoring with 83 points.

At the conclusion of the 2017/18 season the Medicine Hat Tigers selected Sillinger 11th overall in the 2018 Western Hockey League (WHL) Bantam Draft. He would join the Tigers in 2019/20, finishing with 53 points in 48 games.

Having tallied 99 points in 79 junior games the Blue Jackets selected Sillinger 12th overall in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft. The Blue Jackets used first round picks on former CSSHL alumni Kent Johnson (5th overall/BWC Academy) and Corson Ceulemans (25th overall/OHA Edmonton).

Although he was born in Columbus, Ohio, the son of former NHLer Mike Sillinger plays internationally for Canada having suited up for Canada White at the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge tournament. Sillinger was one of 14 CSSHL alumni invited to Canada鈥檚 National Junior Team summer development camp, looking to earn on a spot on the 2022 World Juniors team.
