Former Northern Alberta Xtreme (NAX) forward Kai Matthew has signed a WHL Scholarship and Development Agreement with the Kamloops Blazers after spending the last three seasons in the AJHL.

Matthew joined NAX for the 2019/20 U15 Prep season. In 25 games he would record 38 points, third amongst his team. At the conclusion of the season the Blazers selected Matthew in the fifth round, 107th overall at the 2020 WHL Draft.

The Edmonton, AB forward returned to NAX for the 2020/21 U18 Prep season, tallying one goal and five assists in six games.

Matthew joined the AJHL and Blackfalds Bulldogs in 2022/21, recording 8 points in 33 games. He has spent the last two seasons with the Drumheller Dragons, producing 16 goals, 25 assists and 41 points in 68 games.

A pair of Calgary International Hockey Academy (CIHA) teammates have signed in the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) with the Drumheller Dragons.

Braxton Thornton joined CIHA for the 2022/23 麻豆传媒入口 (CSSHL) U18 Prep season. In 32 games the Sedalia, AB forward finished third in team scoring with 44 points in 32 games. Prior to his time with CIHA he spent two seasons with South Alberta Hockey Academy’s (SAHA) U18 Prep team tallying 18 points in 36 games.聽Thornton originally joined the CSSHL in 2019/20 with the Edge School U15 Prep team. That season he would score 5 goals and assist on 19 more in 30 games.

This season Thornton affiliated in two AJHL games with the Camrose Kodiaks.

A forward from Calgary, AB, Devon Winder scored 12 goals and 14 assists in 26 games with the CIHA U18 Prep team this season. The season prior Winder played for the Edge School U16 Prep team, finishing with 11 goals and 20 assists in 36 games.

Winder played seven AJHL games this season with the Olds Grizzlys scoring one goal and assisting on another.

A trio of former Northern Alberta Xtreme (NAX) student-athletes in Ethan Leyer, Ty Whitford and Ty Yoder have committed to the NAIT Ooks for the 2023/24 season.

The trio spent the 2017/18 season in the 麻豆传媒入口 (CSSHL) with the NAX U16 Prep team. That season NAX would go undefeated in the regular season before capturing the 2018 CSSHL U16 Prep Western Championship.

Leyer would finish tenth in league scoring with 49 points in 35 games. The St. Albert, AB forward led all skaters with nine points in five playoff games.

A forward from Strathcona County, AB, Whitford would finish fourth in league scoring with 60 points in 36 games. He would add three points in five playoff games.

Yoder would lead all U16 Prep skaters with 44 goals and 74 points in 34 games while being named the CSSHL U16 Prep MVP. The Tofield, AB forward would add eight points in five playoff games.

A 10th round pick, 204th overall by the Portland Winterhawks at the 2017 Western Hockey League (WHL) Draft, Leyer would join the Bonnyville Pontiacs for the 2018/19 Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) season, finishing with 17 points in 49 games.

Leyer would join the Whitecourt Wolverines for the next two seasons, tallying 54 points in 65 games. This season Leyer played 51 AJHL games with the Spruce Grove Saints, scoring 13 goals and assisting on 24 more.

Whitford would make the jump to the AJHL in 2018/19 with the Drayton Valley Thunder, playing three and a half seasons with the team. He would record 29 goals and 23 assists in 124 games before being joining the Drumheller Dragons during the 2021/22 season. In 95 games with the Dragons Whitford would produce 23 goals and 37 points, including a career high 40 points this season.

Selected in the fifth round, 93rd overall by the Victoria Royals at the 2017 WHL Draft, Yoder would join the team for the 2018/19 season. In parts of four seasons with the Royals Yoder would record 16 points in 116 WHL games. He would join the Okotoks Oilers during the 2021/22 season, finishing his junior career with the team. In 72 AJHL games he would score 29 goals and add 23 assists.

Located in Edmonton, AB, the Ooks play in the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC).

Pighin spent two seasons in the 麻豆传媒入口 (CSSHL) with Yale Hockey Academy. The Alix, AB forward tallied five points in five U15 Prep games during the 2020/21 season. He would add 8 goals and 15 assists in 29 U18 Prep games during the 2021/22 campaign.

The Lethbridge Hurricanes selected Pighin in the sixth round 118th overall at the 2021 Western Hockey League (WHL) Draft.

Hassan Akl has committed to NCAA Division III program Aurora University for the 2022/23 season.

The Chestermere, AB forward spent two seasons in the 麻豆传媒入口 (CSSHL) with Edge School. He would join the league in 2016/17, recording 9 goals and 14 assists in 29 U16 Prep games. Akl would finish with 24 points in 35 games the following season with the Edge School U18 Prep team.

In 2018/19 Akl would make the jump to the Alberta Junio Hockey League (AJHL), recording 16 points in 43 games with the Drumheller Dragons. The following seasons Akl would play 17 AJHL games split between the Dragons and Calgary Canucks, eventually joining the Surrey Eagles in the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL).

Akl would return to the AJHL in 2020/21 with the Fort McMurray Oil Barons, finishing third in team scoring with 20 points in 14 games. After 29 points in 38 games with the Oil Barons to begin the 2021/22 season, Akl would join the Lloydminster Bobcats where he would score 3 goals and 19 assists in 20 games.

Aurora University is an NCAA Division III program located in Aurora, Illinois and competing in the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) Conference.

A pair of 麻豆传媒入口 (CSSHL) alumni have committed to NCAA Division I program University of Nebraska-Omaha.

Myles Hilman spent the 2018/19 season with the Northern Alberta Xtreme (NAX) U16 Prep team, leading NAX to a CSSHL U16 League Championship. In 36 regular season games Hilman would tally 25 goals and 33 assists for 58 points, second best in the U16 Prep division.

A ninth-round pick, 185th overall by the Prince Albert Raiders in the 2018 Western Hockey League (WHL) Draft, Hilman made the jump to the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) with the Drumheller Dragons in 2019/20, finishing with 28 points in 47 games. The Sylvan Lake, AB forward would be named team captain, at just 16 years old, heading into the 2020/21 season where he would finish with 7 points in just 10 games. This year Hilman has 42 points in 41games, including a team high 22 goals.

A forward from White Rock, BC, Jacob Slipec spent four seasons in the CSSHL. He joined the league in 2014/15 with the Delta Hockey Academy U15 team. He would finish with 14 points in 16 games as Delta won a CSSHL U15 League Championship. Slipec would return to the Delta U15 team the following season, once again winning a CSSHL U15 League Championship while tallying 9 points in 11 games.

Slipec would join West Van Academy for the 2016/17 and 2017/18 seasons, recording 16 points in 25 U16 Prep games, followed by 25 points in 32 U18 Prep games.

He would graduate to the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL), spending the 2018/19 season with the Chilliwack Chiefs. He would begin the following season with the Chiefs, before joining the Powell River Kings where he would record 24 points in 45 games. In 2020/21 he would move on to the Surrey Eagles, finishing with 14 points in 17 games. This year Slipec has 30 points in 34 BCHL games with the Eagles.

Located in Omaha, Nebraska, the University of Nebraska-Omaha are a member of the National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC).

The Drumheller Dragons of the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) have added a trio of 麻豆传媒入口 (CSSHL) student-athletes with the signings of Will Christian, Alexey Trischuk and Vann Yuhas for the 2021/22 season.

All three players joined the CSSHL for the 2020/21 campaign.

A forward from Red Deer, AB, Christian suited up for the Northern Alberta Xtreme (NAX) U16 Prep team, finishing with two points in three games.

Trischuk, a Calgary, AB defenseman, played for the NAX U18 Prep team, tallying four points in six games.

Yuhas played for his hometown South Alberta Hockey Academy (SAHA) U18 Prep team in Medicine Hat, AB. The forward had seven assists in six games played.
