Former Mount Academy student-athlete Samuel Boisvert has signed in the QMJHL with Baie-Comeau Drakkar.

The Mirabel, QC forward joined Mount for the 2021/22 CSSHL East U18 season. In 25 games Boisvert had 14 goals and 10 assists. The following East U18 season he would have a team high 14 assists and 19 points in 7 games with Mount.

Committed to NCAA program the University of Connecticut,聽Boisvert is expected to make his QMJHL debut with Baie-Comeu on Saturday after originally going undrafted to the league.

The Rimouski Oceanic have signed former Mount Academy student-athlete Michael Arsenault to a QMJHL Contract.

Arsenault spent the 2021/22 Eastern U17 season with the Mount U16 team. In 27 games the Cornwall, PEI forward had 17 goals and 9 assists. The following Eastern U18 season he recorded 5 goals and 5 assists in 7 games.

During the 2023/24 MJAHL season Arsenault played 19 games and tallied 7 points with the Summerside Western Capitals.

The Drummondville Voltigeurs originally selected Arsenault in the sixth round, 102nd overall at the 2022 QMJHL Draft.

Mederic Allard: The Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, QC forward joined Mount Academy for the 2023/24 Eastern U18 Prep season. He would finish second in team scoring with 30 points in 19 games.

Rylan Benner: Benner spent two seasons with Mount Academy, joining the program in 2021/22 at the Eastern U17 Prep level. A ninth round, 159th overall selection by the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies at the 2022 QMJHL Draft, Benner spent the following season with the Mount U18 Prep team. Overall he would post an 18-1-0 record, 1.57GAA and .945SV% with 4 shutouts. The Riverview, New Brunswick netmidner was named the 2021/22 CSSHL Eastern U17 Prep Top Goaltender.

Brandon Gauthier: A forward from Navan, ON, Gauthier played two seasons with Mount Academy. In 30 Eastern U18 Prep games he tallied 40 points.

Jesse Gauthier: The twin-brother of Brandon, Jesse Gauthier played two seasons with Mount Academy tallying 32 points in 29 Eastern U18 Prep games.

Dawson Grandy: Selected in the 13th round, 217th overall by the Cape Breton Eagles at the 2022 QMJHL Draft, Grandy played for Mount during the 2021/22 and 2022/23 seasons. In 36 games at the Eastern U17 Prep level the Hampton, NB forward recorded 43 points.

Matthew Hebert: The Halifax, NS forward has spent the last three seasons in the CSSHL with Mount Academy. In his first two seasons at the Eastern U17 Prep level Hebert tallied 29 points. This past season he would finish with 16 points in 19 Eastern U18 Prep games.

Ethan Kane: Kane spent two seasons with Mount Academy in the Eastern U17 Prep division. In 36 games the Saint John, NB defender tallied 19 points.

Oliver Kiraly: A netminder from Budapest, Hungary, Kiraly spent the 2022/23 season with the Mount Eastern U17 Prep team. Kiraly would post a .910SV% and 3.17GAA with a 3-1-0 record en route to being named the CSSHL Eastern U17 Prep Top Goaltender.

Esteban Labelle: The Mirabel, QC forward played the 2022/23 season with the Mount Eastern U18 Prep team, tallying 2 assists in 7 games.

Louis Nadeau: Nadeau played 6 Eastern U18 Prep games with Mount in 2022/23, recording 4 points. The defenseman is from Levis, QC.

Tibor Nemeth: Nemeth has spent the last three seasons with Mount Academy at the Eastern U18 Prep level. In 57 games the North Carolina defender recorded 9 goals and 20 assists.

Tristan St-Gelais: The Frelighsburg, QC, defenseman played the 2022/23 CSSHL Eastern U17 Prep season with Mount Academy recording 7 points in 9 games.

Isaac Tremblay: Tremblay joined Mount during the 2020/21 COVID-19 shortened season. In 2021/22 he would finish second in league scoring with 62 points in 26 games while his 2.38 points per game was a Eastern U18 Prep best.

Jason Tremblay: A netminder from Alma, QC, Tremblay joined Mount this past Eastern U18 Prep season. He would go 8-2-0 with a 2.82GAA and a .921SV%.

The 2024 Maritime Junior Hockey League (MHL) Draft took place June 15th with 5聽current and 8聽former 麻豆传媒入口 (CSSHL) student-athletes being selected.

The MHL Draft consisted of 10 rounds, with 118 players born in 2006-08 being selected.

Located in North Rustico, PEI, Mount Academy joined the 麻豆传媒入口 (CSSHL) Eastern U17 and U18 divisions in 2019/20, winning their first CSSHL Eastern Championship in 2021/22.

PROGRAM PHILOSOPHY AND MISSION STATEMENT

Our philosophy is built on the premise that hard work, curiosity and personal growth are critical for reaching greater heights. We believe students must build the physical, mental, and emotional stamina to generate long-term success and confidence in their future endeavours.

Our Vision is to be a leader in graduating student-athletes with the confidence, skills and motivation to make a difference in society. To accomplish this goal, our student-athletes are tested through verbal, written and hands-on activities, and are provided opportunities to learn and navigate real world situations. Athletic programs integrated into an active 鈥渨ork day鈥 motivate academic in class performance and provide a balanced educational experience.聽

EDUCATION

  • What are some of the things your program does to provide educational support?
    • Students are responsible for managing their workload. Flexibility to accommodate the athletic schedule is provided. Students are encouraged to advocate for themselves and their own education. Mount Academy is a preparatory school, where students are expected to perform at post-secondary levels upon graduation. As a result, students are encouraged to be as productive as possible during the school day. In order to achieve at a high level, students also need to be working outside of class time on homework, reading, organizing and so forth. Students are expected to keep up with their school work while traveling, and coaches will provide students with support and structured study time during team trips.
    • Students are expected to adhere to course deadlines, and submit their work on time. However, faculty may exercise discretion to grant extensions in exceptional circumstances, such as unforeseen emergencies, medical or technical issues.聽 It is the responsibility of the student to petition faculty for consideration, preferably before the due date.
  • How are grades monitored and how often?
    • Each instructor creates their own syllabus and grading scheme, which will be provided on the first day of class. The syllabus is subject to changes throughout the term. Student work will be evaluated on an ongoing basis using both formative and summative assessments, and regular feedback will be provided. Students are expected to participate in class activities and encouraged to ask questions.
    • Mount Academy primarily uses Google Classroom for classroom management of assignments, to provide electronic resources, and communication with students. Class codes are provided on the first day of class.
    • Grades and performance reports are provided online via the MySchool student information system.
  • How are courses and the graduation path for student athletes chosen?
    • Mount Academy delivers the Atlantic Canadian School curriculum and is approved by the PEI Department of Education
  • Do you have an academic probation policy?
    • Academic honesty is fundamental to our school philosophy. Violations of any form of lying, plagiarism, misrepresentation of work, purchasing documents, copying, or cheating is considered unacceptable. This includes passing in work created by ChatGPT or any other AI generator, work from other students, or submitting old assignments. Students are responsible for all work submitted and understand that any student violating this policy will receive an automatic zero on the work involved, and further disciplinary action may also be taken. Flagrant, persistent or repeated incidences of cheating or plagiarism can result in suspension, expulsion from the school, or denial of readmission. Such cases will be reviewed by the disciplinary committee.

RESIDENTIAL LIFE

  • Do you offer a billeting program or a dormitory for non-local student athletes?
    • Mount academy offers students the opportunity to stay in one of our residences.
  • Location of the Residence
    • Offsite student housing is located at the Gables Resort in Stanley Bridge, PEI. Please refer to the website : if you would like to see more information on these facilities.
    • The residence is open from September 9, 2024 to June 5, 2025, but is closed during Christmas break and March break, where student belongings may remain, but students themselves must vacate. Families should expect that all the rooms are single or bunk beds. Boarders will be informed of: your house, room, and roommates by email no later than seven (7) days before move in day.
  • What kind of life skills do the student athletes learn by living in the dorms or with billets?
    • Students learn the values of teamwork and the lessons of independence and accountability while being immersed in the residence setting.聽

STUDENT ATHLETE HEALTH

  • How are injuries and sick student athletes monitored?
    • In the event of a medical emergency, teachers and staff should provide immediate first aid as necessary. If deemed serious, call 911 and THEN inform school administration.
    • We also have access to a General Practitioner, Dr. Stacy Champion should any students require to be seen by a physician at any time during their time at the Mount Academy.

    • Mount Academy operates an extended school day from 8:05 AM to 3:45 PM, which includes academics and athletics. Students may arrive up to 15 minutes before the school day begins and remain for 15 minutes after聽 the school day ends. Here an example of what a schedule look like :

Nine current or former 麻豆传媒入口 (CSSHL) student-athletes were selected at the 2024 QMJHL Draft.

The nine student-athletes selected is second most in CSSHL history, behind the 2021 season when 17 heard their names called. 51 current or former CSSHL student-athletes have now been selected at the QMJHL Draft since 2018.

Former Mount Academy forward Liam Arsenault became the first forward and third student-athlete in CSSHL history to be selected in the first round, joining Evan Nause (5th overall 2020) and Oscar Plandowski (19th, 2019).

The Blackfalds Bulldogs have signed Noah Davis and Jano Zambakdjian ahead of the 2023/24 Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) season.

Davis joined Edge School for the 2019/20 U15 Prep season, going 8-3-3 with a 3.66 GAA and .882 SV% in 14 games. The Calgary, AB netminder would play for the Edge U16 Prep team the following shortened season. In 2021/22 Davis played 22 U18 Prep games posting a record of 18-3-0 with 4 shutouts, a 1.84 GAA and .927 SV%.

This season Davis would be nominated for the CSSHL U18 Prep Top Goaltender Award after leading the league with 16 wins and finishing third with a 2.15 GAA. He would finish with a 16-1-1 record with 1 shutout and a .918 SV%. He would play four of the five Edge School playoff games, finishing with a record of 4-0-0, 1.99 GAA and .895 SV% as Edge captured the 2023 CSSHL U18 Prep Western Championship.

Zambakdjian has spent the last two seasons in the CSSHL with Mount Academy. During the 2021/22 Eastern U18 season Zambakdjian would lead all defensemen with 33 points in 28 games, earning CSSHL Eastern U18 Top Defenseman Award honours. The Laval, QC product would add two assists in three playoff games as Mount Academy U18 #1 captured the 2022 CSSHL Eastern U18 Championships.

A 10th round, 172nd overall pick by the Charlottetown Islanders at the 2021 Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) Draft, Zambakdjian played 10 games for the Mount Academy U18 Varsity team this season. He would finish with 2 goals and 8 assists, tying for the team lead among all Mount defensemen with 10 points.

Mount Academy student-athlete David Lebel has signed in the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) with the Whitecourt Wolverines.

Level joined Mount Academy’s U18 Varsity team for the 2022/23 麻豆传媒入口 (CSSHL) Eastern U18 season. In seven games the St-Maurice, QC forward would lead his team with nine goals. His 13 points were tied for third for Mount skaters.

Lebel was originally drafted in the seventh round, 126th overall by the Victoriaville Tigers at the 2021 Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) Draft.
