Five 麻豆传媒入口 (CSSHL) alumni have signed professional hockey contracts.

Ethan Edwards, Charlie Elick, Trey Taylor and Matthew Wood have all signed NHL Entry Level Contracts, while Evan Friesen has signed in the ECHL.

Selected in the fourth round, 120th overall at the 2020 NHL Draft by the New Jersey Devils, Edwards has signed a two year contract with the team. The St. Albert, AB defenseman has spent the last four seasons in the NCAA with the University of Michigan, tallying 56 points in 130 games.

Edwards spent two seasons in the CSSHL with the Northern Alberta Xtreme (NAX), capturing a U16 Prep Championship in 2018. Overall, he would play 63 games split between the NAX U16 Prep and U18 Prep teams, recording 49 points.

Elick has signed with the Columbus Blue Jackets after they selected him in the second round, 36th overall at the 2024 NHL Draft. The Calgary, AB defenseman joined Edge School in 2020/21, playing with their U15 Prep team. In 2021/22 he would tally 25 points in 26 U18 Prep games while being named the CSSHL U18 Prep Top Freshman Award winner.

The Brandon Wheat Kings would select Elick with the third overall pick at the 2021 WHL Draft where he would spend his first two-and-a-half WHL season before joining the Tri-City Americans midway through this year. In 196 career WHL games Elick has 10 goals and 45 assists.

Undrafted to the NHL, Taylor has signed a contract with the Dallas Stars. Taylor spent the 2017/18 season with the Delta Hockey Academy U16 Prep team, posting 12 goals and 16 assists in 35 games.

The Richmond, BC defender would join Clarkson University of the NCAA in 2022/23, playing three seasons with the team. In 110 NCAA games Taylor finished with 16 goals and 38 assists while being named the NCAA (ECAC) Best Defensive Defenseman and a Second Team All-Star in 2023/24.

Woods spent the 2019/20 CSSHL U15 Prep season with the West Van Warriors (now the North Shore Warriors), finishing second in the league in goals (40) and fourth in points (71) in 30 games. At the conclusion of the season the Regina Pats selected Wood in the second round, 41st overall at the 2020 WHL Draft. However, Wood took the NCAA route.

TheLethbridge, AB forward spent two seasons with the University of Connecticut before transferring to the University of Minnesota this season. In 109 NCAA games Wood recorded 44 goals and 57 assists while being named to the NCAA (Hockey East) All-Rookie Team in 2022/23.

Selected in the first round, 15th overall at the 2023 NHL Draft by the Predators, Wood has represented Team Canada on three separate occasions: twice with the U18 Team, and once with the World Juniors Team.

A forward from Winnipeg, MB, Friesen has signed an ECHL Contract with the Utah Grizzlies. Friesen has played two games with the team already, having played one with them last season.

Undrafted to the WHL, Friesen has spent the last four seasons in the top junior hockey league in Western Canada. This season he would captain the Wenatchee Wild, finishing with 61 points in 66 games. In total, Friesen had 146 points in 240 WHL games.

Prior to his time in the WHL, Friesen spent two seasons in the CSSHL with RHA Winnipeg, playing for their U15 Prep and U16 Prep teams. In 66 CSSHL games he would record 14 goals and 20 assists.

Five 麻豆传媒入口 (CSSHL) alumna have been selected to represent Team Canada at the 2025 Women’s World Championships.

The tournament will take place April 9-20, 2025 in Czechia and will see Team Canada in Pool A with the U.S.A., Finland, Czechia and Switzerland.

Among the 25 players selected include Emily Clark, Hannah Miller, Chloe Primerano, Danielle Serdachny and Micah Zandee-Hart.

Clark spent two seasons with the Okanagan Hockey Academy (OHA) Female U18 Prep season. The Saskatoon, SK forward would go on to play five seasons in the NCAA with the University of Wisconsin, recording 70 goals and 76 assists in 147 games. She spent last season and the current one in the PWHL with the Ottawa Charge, recording 11 goals and 19 assists in 47 games.

Internationally Clark has represented Canada since 2011. To this date she has two U18 Women鈥檚 Worlds gold medals, one bronze, four silver and three gold medals at the Women’s World Championships. She has captured a silver medal at the 2018 Olympics and a gold medal a the 2022 Olympics.

Miller played for the OHA Female U18 Prep team in 2012/13 and 2013/14. She would go on to spend four season in the NCAA with St. Lawrence University, recording 43 goals and 80 assists for 123 points in 124 games.

The North Vancouver, BC forward would spend five years playing professional hockey overseas in China, Sweden and Russia before being selected by the Toronto Sceptres 74th overall at the 2023 PWHL Draft. In the last two PWHL seasons she has recorded 37 points in 46 games, including 23 points in 23 games this season.

This will be Miller’s first time playing for Team Canada at the National level and will mark her return in the red and white. She previously represented Canada at the 2013 and 2014 U18 Women’s World Championships, capturing gold both years. Miller would then go on to represent China internationally, including at the 2022 Winter Olympic Games.

Primerano made her National Women’s team debut at just 17 years old earlier this fall. The University of Minnesota freshman represented Team Canada at the 2024 U18 Women’s World Championships, earning MVP, Best Defender, Tournament Allstar and Leading Scorer honours, setting the record for most points by a defender at one U18 Women鈥檚 Worlds (16) and most points by a Canadian at one U18 Women鈥檚 Worlds. This summer she was named to the Canada Women’s U18 team that competed against the United States for a three-games series from August 14-17, 2024.

Primerano became the the first female-skater ever selected in a CHL Draft when the Vancouver Giants selected her in the 13th round, 268th overall at the 2022 WHL Draft. In just two seasons in the Female U18 Prep division with RHA Kelowna the North Vancouver, BC defender graduated from the CSSHL as the most successful student-athlete in women’s history. Her 105 career assists are most all time among Female U18 Prep skaters while her 164 career points rank 1 back of the all-time record. Her 59 career goals are fourth most all-time, and most among defensemen, giving her the all-time career lead among defensemen in assists (105), goals (59) and points (164). During the 2024/25 CSSHL season Primerano set the Female U18 Prep single season record, among all skaters, with 35 goals, 54 assists and 89 points in just 29 games to earn her second straight CSSHL Female U18 Prep MVP Award.

In 34 NCAA games this season as an underage true freshman, Primerano had 5 goals and 26 assists.

Selected second overall at the 2024 Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) Draft, by the Ottawa Charge,聽Serdachny spent two seasons in the CSSHL with the Pursuit of Excellence (POE) Female U18 Prep team. She joined the program in 2017/18, finishing third in team scoring with 46 points. The following year she would finish second in team and league scoring with 58 points, bringing her CSSHL career total to 104 points in 49 games. That year she would also represent Team Canada at the World Women’s U18 Championship, tallying four points and being named as a ‘Top 3 Player on Team’, helping Canada capture gold.

The Edmonton, AB forward made the jump to the NCAA in 2019/20 with Colgate University. In 5 seasons with Colgate she finished with 238 points in 180 games. Her 61 points in 2023/24 were fifth among NCAA skaters while her 71 points in 2022/23 led all NCAA players. During her NCAA career she would be named a NCAA First Team All-American twice.

Serdachny scored the overtime winner in the Gold Medal game for Team Canada at the 2024 Women’s World Championships. To go along with her 2024 gold medal she has a 2023 silver medal and a 2019 gold medal at the U18 Women鈥檚 Worlds.

This season Serdachny has 2 goals and 5 assists in 23 PWHL games with Ottawa.

Zandee-Hart spent four seasons with OHA from 2011-2015. The Victoria, BC defender has a U18 gold and silver medals, to go along with a World Championship bronze, silver and gold, and a 2022 Olympic Gold medal.

She would play four seasons in the NCAA with Cornell University, recording 17 goals and 70 assists. Zandee-Hart joined the New York Sirens of the PWHL in 2023/24, tallying 3 assists in 19 games. This season she has 1 goal and 8 assists in 24 PWHL games with New York.

Four current or former CSSHL student-athletes have signed in the Canadian Hockey League (CHL) ahead of the roster deadlines.

Rafael Cloutier and Lynden Larsen have signed in the QMJHL, while Jackson Kostiuk and Ethan Merner have signed in the WHL.

Cloutier joined Bourget College ahead of the 2021/22 East U17 season. In 33 games the Pointe-Fortune, QC forward had 9 goals and 8 assists. The following East U18 season he would record 5 goals and 8 assists in 14 games with Bourget. The Clarkson University commit has signed with the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada, having recorded two points in three games so far this season.

A forward from Verdun, QC, Larsen has spent the 2024/25 CSSHL East U17 season with Selwyn House School recording a team best 11 assists and 16 points in 5 games. Larsen, who was selected in the fourth round, 63rd overall at the 2024 QMJHL Draft, has played six games with Acadie-Bathurst Titan, tallying two assists.

Selected in the 10th round, 216th overall by the Saskatoon Blades at the 2021 WHL Draft, Kostiuk has signed with the Prince Albert Raiders, recording one assist in two games. The East St. Paul. MB forward played three seasons in the CSSHL with RHA Winnipeg at the U15 Prep and U18 Prep levels. In 71 career CSSHL games he recorded 89 points, including 47 during the 2022/23 U18 Prep season. Kostiuk has spent the last two seasons in the MJHL with the Steinbach Pistons, tallying 34 points in 29 games this season before joining the Raiders.

Merner joined Okanagan Hockey Academy for the 2019/20 U15 Prep season, producing 12 points in 30 games. The Kelowna, BC forward would have three points in two U15 Prep games with Yale Hockey Academy the following season before recording 44 points in 32 U17 Prep games in 2021/22, leading to the Calgary Hitmen selecting him in the fourth round, 80th overall at the 2021 WHL Draft. Committed to NCAA program Merrimack College, Merner has signed with the Hitmen.

Four current and one former 麻豆传媒入口 (CSSHL) student-athletes helped Team Canada capture gold at the 2025 IIHF U18 Women鈥檚 World Championships.

Former RHA Kelowna defenseman and current University of Minnesota student-athlete Chloe Primerano captained Team Canada and was joined on the roster by current RHA Kelowna student-athletes Ava Drabyk, Alida Korte, Danica Maynard, and Hayley McDonald.

The tournament took place January 4-12 in Vantaa, Finland. Team Canada opened the round robin with a 6-2 win against Slovakia before beating Switzerland 5-1and Czechia 5-0. They would beat Japan 17-0 in the quarter finals and Czechia 4-2 in the semis, before beating the USA 3-0 in the gold medal game.

Primerano, who represented Team Canada at the 2024 U18 Women’s World Championships, earning MVP, Best Defender, Tournament Allstar and Leading Scorer honours, led all defensemen with 4 goals, 6 assists and 10 points, third among all skaters. She would once again be named Best Defender, and a Tournament Allstar, while her 10 points gave her 36 career points with the U18 Women鈥檚 team, setting a new Canadian record.

McDonald would record 4 goals and 3 assists in 6 games, putting her seventh in team scoring. Maynard would chip in with 1 goal and 3 assists in 6 games, while Korte would play 2 games, finishing the tournament with 1 assist.

Former Delta Hockey Academy student-athlete Johnny Hicks has signed a WHL Scholarship and Development Agreement with the Victoria Royals.

The Kamloops, BC netminder joined Delta for the 2019/20 U15 Prep season. He would play 16 games that season with Delta White before spending the following CSSHL season with the Delta U17 Prep team. That year he would post a .952 SV%, and 1.59 GAA in three games.

Hicks, who was undrafted to the WHL, is committed to NCAA Division I program Tennessee State University.

The Kelowna Rockets have signed former BWC Academy student-athlete Gabriel Guilbault to a WHL Scholarship and Development Agreement.

The Burnaby, BC defenseman joined the CSSHL for the 2019/20 U15 season. In 30 games he would lead all defenders with 19 goals and 42 points while being named the CSSHL U15 MVP. The following U15 Prep season he would record seven assists in six U15 Prep games.

In 2021/22 he would record 20 points in 30 regular season games with the BWC Academy U18 Prep team. He would add two assists in five playoff games to help BWC Academy capture the 2022 CSSHL U18 Prep Western Championship.

Kelowna originally selected Guilbault in the third round, 61st overall at the 2021 WHL Draft. Guilbault is committed to NCAA Division I program Quinnipiac University.

Former Yale Hockey Academy student-athletes Tyson Moss and Joel Plante have signed WHL Scholarship and Development Agreements with their respective teams.

Moss has signed with the Medicinet Hat Tigers after he was originally selected in the 10th round, 217th overall at the 2022 WHL Draft by the Kamloops Blazers.

The Port Moody, BC defenseman joined Yale for the 2020/21 U15 season, tallying one point in four games. The following CSSHL season he would tally one assist in three U15 Prep games. During the 2022/23 U17 Prep season, Moss would record 5 goals and 18 assists in 34 games.

Plante joined Yale in 2018/19, tallying 12 points in 29 U15 games. The following season the Langley, BC forward recorded 16 points in 30 CSSHL U15 Prep games. He would spend the 2020/21 season with the Yale U17 Prep team, producing seven points in five games.

Undrafted to the WHL, Plante has signed with the Portland Winterhawks. He is committed to NCAA Division I program University of Nebraska-Omaha.

Moss and Plante both made their WHL debut within the last week.

Four 麻豆传媒入口 (CSSHL) alumni have been selected to represent Team Canada at the 2025 IIHF World Junior Championship.

The 10 team tournament will take place December 26-Jan. 5 in Ottawa, ON. Four CSSHL alumni will represent Team Canada at the 2025 IIHF World Junior Championships.

The four CSSHL alumni selected to represent Team Canada are:

  • Carson Bjarnason – Brandon Wheat Kings/WHL (RHA Winnipeg)
  • Gavin McKenna – Medicine Hat Tigers/WHL (RHA Kelowna/South Alberta Hockey Academy)
  • Tanner Molendyk – Saskatoon Blades/WHL (Yale Hockey Academy)
  • Sawyer Mynio – Seattle Thunderbirds/WHL (Yale Hockey Academy)

A first round pick by the Nashville Predators at the 2023 NHL Draft, Molendyk is one of five returning players who represented Canada at the 2024 World Juniors. Bjarnason will represent Team Canada for the third time. The 2023 2nd round NHL Pick by the Philadelphia Flyers won gold at the 2023 Hlinka Gretzky Cup and Bronze at the 2023 U18 World Championships.

McKenna, who is expected to be the first overall pick at the 2026 NHL Draft, has won gold for Canada at the 2024 IIHF U18 World Championships and the 2024 Hlinka Gretzky Cup. This will be the first time Mynio, a Vancouver Canucks 2023 third round pick, represents Team Canada on the international stage.

The 2025 IIHF World Junior Championship begins on Boxing Day with Canada kicking off its tournament schedule against Finland, while the United States will play Germany. The two teams will meet on Dec. 31 to wrap up preliminary-round action. The knock-out round will begin with the quarter-finals on January 2.

Among the 24 players include four current and one former CSSHL student-athlete:

Maynard originally joined the CSSHL in 2020/21 with the Okanagan Hockey Academy (OHA) Female U17 Prep team. She would start the following season there, before joining their Female U18 Prep team for the remainder of the season. In 2022/23 the Osoyoos, BC defenseman tallied 27 points in 29 games, brining her OHA career totals to 64 points in 64 games. Maynard joined RHA Kelowna for the 2023/24 Female U18 Prep season, posting 46 points in 30 games. This season Maynard leads all defensemen with 8 goals, 22 assists and 30 points in 16 games.

A forward from East St. Paul, MB, McDonald joined RHA Kelowna for the 2024/25 season. In 17 games she has 14 goals and 17 assists for 31 points, which ranks fifth among all skaters, and second on her team.

Primerano represented Team Canada at the 2024 U18 Women’s World Championships, earning MVP, Best Defender, Tournament Allstar and Leading Scorer honours, setting the record for most points by a defender at one U18 Women鈥檚 Worlds (16) and most points by a Canadian at one U18 Women鈥檚 Worlds.

The Tri-City Americans have signed former Northern Alberta Xtreme (NAX) student-athlete Ryan Grout to a WHL Scholarship and Development Agreement.

Tri-City originally selected the Calgary, AB netminder in the fourth round, 73rd overall at the 2022 WHL Draft.

Grout would join NAX for the 2020/21 CSSHL U15 season, playing in one game. The following U15 Prep campaign he would be named the CSSHL U15 Prep Top Goaltender after leading the division with a 1.53 GAA, .938 SV%. Grout would also be named to the CSSHL U15 Prep All-Academic Team.

The following U17 Prep season Grout would go 10-1-0 with 1 shutout, a .921 SV% and 1.81 GAA to help NAX capture the 2023 CSSHL U17 Prep Western Championship.

Grout is committed to NCAA program University of New Hampshire.
