Seven 麻豆传媒入口 (CSSHL) alumnae have been named to the Canada鈥檚 National Women鈥檚 Development Team.

Along with the seven former CSSHL student-athletes, current Okanagan Hockey Academy U17 Prep head coach Jessie Leung will join the team as Video Coach.

Among the 23 women selected include seven CSSHL alumnae who previously played for Delta Hockey Academy, Edge School, Okanagan Hockey Academy or RHA Kelowna (former Pursuit of Excellence):

  • Jordan Baxter – Delta Hockey Academy
  • Anne Cherkowski – POE
  • Tova Henderson – Delta Hockey Academy
  • Hailey MacLeod – Delta Hockey Academy
  • Sarah Paul – OHA, POE/RHA Kelowna
  • Sara Swiderski – RHA Kelowna
  • Sarah Wozniewicz – Edge School

Baxter, Henderson, MacLeod, and Swiderski all captured gold at the 2022 IIHF U18 Women鈥檚 World Championship in Madison, Wisconsin with Baxter also winning gold at the 2023 U18 Women鈥檚 Worlds in 脰stersund, Sweden.

Canada鈥檚 National Women鈥檚 Development Team will participate in the Women鈥檚 Euro Hockey Tour for the first time from December 11-15 in Tampere, Finland.

The six-team tournament features Canada in Group B with Czechia and Sweden, while Group A includes Finland, Switzerland and the United States. Canada will open the Women鈥檚 Euro Hockey Tour against Sweden on December 11 at 5 a.m. PST and will take on Czechia to wrap up the preliminary round on December 12 at 9 a.m. PST.

鈥淭he Women鈥檚 Euro Hockey Tour is a fantastic opportunity for our National Women鈥檚 Development Team to gain valuable experience on the international stage,鈥 said聽Dylan Rockwell (Calgary, AB), senior manager of hockey operations. 鈥淭his tournament will be an important step in the development and assessment of our athletes for the future of Team Canada looking ahead to the Olympic quadrennials in 2030 and 2034.鈥

Former CSSHL and current Everett Silvertips netminder Jesse Sanche has been named the October CSSHL WHL Alumni Player of the Month.

Sanche went 8-1-0 with 1 shutout while recording a 1.33 GAA and 0.940 SV% in nine games with Everett during October. On the season he is 10-2-0 with a WHL best 10 wins, 1.98 GAA and 0.924 SV%.

The Kamloops, BC goalie joined the CSSHL for the 2019/20 U15 Prep season going 12-4-0 with a 2.98 GAA, .889 SV% and 1 shutout with the Pursuit of Excellence (now RHA Kelowna). The following season with RHA Kelowna he would go 3-0-0 with a 1.00 GAA and .939 SV% in 3 U15 Prep games.

He would join Okanagan Hockey Academy (OHA) for the 2021/22 U17 Prep season, posting a 6-7-0 record, .880 SV% and 4.67 GAA while being named the CSSHL U17 Prep Top Goaltender. At the conclusion of the season the Kamloops Blazers would select him in the second round, 42nd overall at the 2021 WHL Draft.

Sanche would return to OHA for the 2022/23 U18 Prep season where he went 8-3-1 with a 3.18 GAA and .898 SV%. Sanche would make his WHL debut with the Blazers during that season.

The 2023/24 season was his first full season in the WHL with the Blazers. Sanche would play 30 games posting a 4.66 GAA, .872 SV% and 6-17-1 record.

Four 麻豆传媒入口 (CSSHL) alumna have been selected to represent Team Canada as they face-off against Team U.S. for the first three games of the 2024-25 Rivalry Series, starting November 6 in San Jose, California.

Among the 25 players selected include Emily Clark, Chloe Primerano, Danielle Serdachny and Sophie Shirley.

Clark spent two seasons with the Okanagan Hockey Academy (OHA) Female U18 Prep season. The Saskatoon, SK forward would go on to play five seasons in the NCAA with the University of Wisconsin, recording 70 goals and 76 assists in 147 games. She spent last season in the PWHL with Ottawa where she had 4 goals and 11 assists in 24 games.

Internationally Clark has represented Canada since 2011. To this date she has two U18 Women鈥檚 Worlds gold medals, one bronze, four silver and three gold medals at the Women’s World Championships. She has captured a silver medal at the 2018 Olympics and a gold medal a the 2022 Olympics.

Primerano will make her National Women’s team debut at just 17 years old. The University of Minnesota freshman represented Team Canada at the 2024 U18 Women’s World Championships, earning MVP, Best Defender, Tournament Allstar and Leading Scorer honours, setting the record for most points by a defender at one U18 Women鈥檚 Worlds (16) and most points by a Canadian at one U18 Women鈥檚 Worlds. This summer she was named to the Canada Women’s U18 team that competed against the United States for a three-games series from August 14-17, 2024.

Primerano became the the first female-skater ever selected in a CHL Draft when the Vancouver Giants selected her in the 13th round, 268th overall at the 2022 WHL Draft. In just two seasons in the Female U18 Prep division with RHA Kelowna the North Vancouver, BC defender graduated from the CSSHL as the most successful student-athlete in women’s history. Her 105 career assists are most all time among Female U18 Prep skaters while her 164 career points rank 1 back of the all-time record. Her 59 career goals are fourth most all-time, and most among defensemen, giving her the all-time career lead among defensemen in assists (105), goals (59) and points (164). This past season Primerano set the Female U18 Prep single season record, among all skaters, with 35 goals, 54 assists and 89 points in just 29 games to earn her second straight CSSHL Female U18 Prep MVP Award.

In 10 NCAA games this season Primerano has 1 goal and 5 assists.

Selected second overall at the 2024 Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) Draft, by the Ottawa Charge,聽Serdachny spent two seasons in the CSSHL with the Pursuit of Excellence (POE) Female U18 Prep team. She joined the program in 2017/18, finishing third in team scoring with 46 points. The following year she would finish second in team and league scoring with 58 points, bringing her CSSHL career total to 104 points in 49 games. That year she would also represent Team Canada at the World Women’s U18 Championship, tallying four points and being named as a ‘Top 3 Player on Team’, helping Canada capture gold.

The Edmonton, AB forward made the jump to the NCAA in 2019/20 with Colgate University. In 5 seasons with Colgate she finished with 238 points in 180 games. Her 61 points in 2023/24 were fifth among NCAA skaters while her 71 points in 2022/23 led all NCAA players. During her NCAA career she would be named a NCAA First Team All-American twice.

Serdachny scored the overtime winner in the Gold Medal game for Team Canada at the 2024 Women’s World Championships. To go along with her 2024 gold medal she has a 2023 silver medal and a 2019 gold medal at the U18 Women鈥檚 Worlds.

Shirley played in the CSSHL for OHA before joining the University of Wisconsin for five seasons. In 177 NCAA games the Saskatoon, SK forward had 81 goals and 108 assists while winning three NCAA Championships. Last PWHL season Shirley had 3 goals and 2 assists in 20 games with Boston.

On the international stage she has won two U18 Women鈥檚 Worlds silver medals while being named the Tournaments Best Forward in 2017.

Former Pursuit of Excellence (POE) and Okanagan Hockey Academy (OHA) coach Jessica Campbell has made NHL history being named the first woman assistant coach in league history.

The Seattle Kraken announced July 3 that they had hired Campbell as an Assistant Coach, making her the first woman in the history of the NHL to be named an assistant, associate or head coach in the league.

Campbell joined the 麻豆传媒入口 (CSSHL) as an assistant coach with the RHA Kelowna, formerly POE, Female U18 Prep team in 2017/18. She would spend two seasons with the team before joining OHA as an assistant coach with their Female U18 Prep team in 2019/20.

The Moosomin, SK product would spend two seasons in Europe as a skating coach before returning to North American in 2022/23. Campbell has spent the past two seasons as an assistant coach in the AHL with the Coachella Valley Firebirds.

Campbell played two seasons for POE, tallying 174 points in 71 games. She would go on to spend 4 seasons in the NCAA with Cornell University, recording 100 points in 131 games. Campbell would play three seasons in the Canadian Women’s Hockey League (CWHL) with the Calgary Inferno producing 50 points in 63 games.

Internationally, Campbell has a U18 Gold and Silver Medal for Team Canada while being named MVP with a tournament best 15 points in 2010. She captured another silver medal with Team Canada at the 2015 Women’s World Championships.

Three former 麻豆传媒入口 (CSSHL) student-athletes have been selected at the 2024 Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) Draft.

The 7 round draft saw 42 total players selected by the 6 PWHL teams on Monday, June 10th.

All three former CSSHL student-athletes selected played together for Pursuit of Excellence (POE), now known as RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna, for the 2017/18 and 2018/19 seasons, capturing back-to-back- CSSHL Female U18 Prep Western Championships. Greig also spent the 2016/17 season with the POE Female U18 Prep team.

A forward from Edmonton, AB, Serdachny scored 40 goals and added 64 assists in 49 career games with POE. She would join Colgate University in 2019/20, playing 180 NCAA games and finishing with 238 points. She would be named a NCAA First Team All-American in 2020/21 and again in 2022/23. In 2022/23 she would be named a NCAA Top Female Collegiate Player (Patty Kazmaier Award) Finalist while capturing a World Championship Silver Medal with Team Canada. This season, she would score the overtime winner as Team Canada captured gold at the World Championships.

Markowski recorded 58 points in 45 CSSHL games with POE. The Edmonton, AB defenseman won a gold with Team Canada at the 2019 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships before heading to the NCAA with Clarkson University. In 134 games with Clarkson she would record 65 points. In 2023/24 she would join Ohio State University, finishing with 27 points in 39 games.

In 2016/17 Greig tallied 25 points in 19 games. She would add 125 points in 46 games over the next two seasons, giving her a Female U18 Prep CSSHL record 150 career points. She would spend two seasons at the University of Wisconsin before transferring to Colgate University for three season. In 175 NCAA games Greig totalled 132 points, winning an NCAA Championship in 2020/21.

Seven 麻豆传媒入口 (CSSHL) alumni have been selected to represent Team Canada at the 2024 IIHF World Championships.

The tournament will take place in Prague and Ostrava in Czechia from May 10-26, 2024.

Canada will compete in Pool A and play Great Britain, Denmark, Austria, Norway, Finland, Switzerland, and Czechia, in the Round Robin. The quarter-finals will begin May 24.

Among the 22 players named to Team Canada, 7 are CSSHL alumni:

  • Bowen Byram – Yale Hockey Academy
  • Connor Bedard – North Shore Warriors
  • Dylan Cozens – Delta Hockey Academy/Yale Hockey Academy
  • Dylan Guenther – Northern Alberta Xtreme
  • Kaiden Guhle – OHA Edmonton
  • Joel Hofer – Pursuit of Excellence (RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna)
  • Olen Zellweger – OHA Edmonton

All seven players, who are graduates of the Western Hockey League (WHL), spent the season in the NHL and have previously represented Team Canada on the international stage.

St. Louis Blues netmidner Hofer played for Team Canada at the 2023 World Championships, helping Canada capture a gold medal.

Byram and Cozens, who currently play for the Buffalo Sabres, won gold alongside Hofer with Team Canada at the 2020 World Juniors.

Guhle, who plays for the Montreal Canadiens, played with Byram and Cozens at the 2021 World Juniors when the team won a silver medal.

Chicago Blackhawks forward Bedard, who is up for the NHL Rookie of the Year Award (Calder Memorial Trophy) won gold with Anaheim Ducks defenseman Zellweger at the 2022 World Juniors. They would repeat the feat in 2023 when Arizona Coyotes forward Guenther scored the game winning goal in overtime.

Pankey spent the 2019/20 CSSHL season with the Pursuit of Excellence (POE) U15 Prep team. In 28 games the Spokane, WA defenseman recorded 1 goal and 1 assist. Pankey has signed with the Wenatchee Wild, and has since played two WHL games with the club.

A netminder from Invermere, BC, Tamelin has spent the last three seasons in the CSSHL with Okanagan Hockey Academy (OHA). Tamelin would join OHA for the 2021/22 U16 Prep season, playing in 13 games. He would spend last season with their U17 Prep team, playing 19 games and recording a 2.35 GAA, .928 SV%, and a 12-4-2 record with 2 shutouts.

This season Tamelin has played 7 games with a 6-1-0 record, 1.71 GAA, .938 SV% and 2 shutouts, earning him the CSSHL U18 Prep Division October Player of the Month. Tamelin has signed with the Victoria Royals after originally being selected in the ninth round, 183rd overall at the 2021 WHL Draft by the Spokane Chiefs.

Former CSSHL student-athlete Tanner Brown has signed a contract in the ECHL with the Florida Everblades.

Brown spent two seasons in the CSSHL, joining Pursuit of Excellence (POE) for the 2016/17 U15 Prep season. In 26 games the Kelowna, BC defenseman would record 29 points. He would add four assists in four playoff games as POE captured the 2017 CSSHL U15 Prep Western Championship.

At the conclusion of the season the Vancouver Giants would select Brown in the second round, 24th overall at the 2017 Western Hockey League (WHL) Draft.

In 2018/19 Brown would suit-up for the Delta Hockey Academy U18 Prep team, tallying 21 points in 29 games. Having already played 14 games the last two seasons for the Giants as an affiliate player, Brown would join the team full time in 2019/20. He would spend two and a half seasons with the Giants, tallying 26 points in 113 games.

After beginning the 2021/22 season in Vancouver, Brown would join the Winnipeg Ice for the remainder of the season, recording 12 points in 33 games. He would begin the 2022/23 season with the Red Deer Rebels where he would produce six assists in five games. He would finish his junior career with the Regina Pats, scoring 4 goals and adding 23 assists in 58 games.
