The Trail, BC defenseman spent four seasons in the 麻豆传媒入口 (CSSHL) with Okanagan Hockey Academy (OHA). In 2015/16 McKinnon joined the OHA U15 team, producing 4 points in 24 games. He would play 30 U16 Prep games the following year, tallying 9 points.

McKinnon would spend the next two years with the OHA U18 Prep teams, playing 49 games and recording 19 points.

In 2019/20 he would join the Drayton Valley Thunder in the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL), finishing with 8 points in 46 games. He would play just one game for the Thunder in 2020/21, before joining the Humboldt Broncos in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) for the 2021/22 season. In 56 games this season McKinnon had 3 goals and 16 assists.

McKinnon has spent the last five years playing in the 麻豆传媒入口 (CSSHL) with Penticton, BC based OHA. She would join the program in 2016/17, spending three years with their Female U17 Prep team. In 74 Female U17 Prep games the forward would score 15 goal, adding 22 assists.

In 2019/20 she would join the OHA Female U18 Prep team, tallying 8 points in 35 games over two seasons.

McKinnon will join Pilot Mound Hockey Academy鈥檚 Madelyne Petrie in Canton, New York with the Kangaroos.
