Four current and one former 麻豆传媒入口 (CSSHL) student-athletes helped Team Canada capture gold at the 2025 IIHF U18 Women鈥檚 World Championships.

Former RHA Kelowna defenseman and current University of Minnesota student-athlete Chloe Primerano captained Team Canada and was joined on the roster by current RHA Kelowna student-athletes Ava Drabyk, Alida Korte, Danica Maynard, and Hayley McDonald.

The tournament took place January 4-12 in Vantaa, Finland. Team Canada opened the round robin with a 6-2 win against Slovakia before beating Switzerland 5-1and Czechia 5-0. They would beat Japan 17-0 in the quarter finals and Czechia 4-2 in the semis, before beating the USA 3-0 in the gold medal game.

Primerano, who represented Team Canada at the 2024 U18 Women’s World Championships, earning MVP, Best Defender, Tournament Allstar and Leading Scorer honours, led all defensemen with 4 goals, 6 assists and 10 points, third among all skaters. She would once again be named Best Defender, and a Tournament Allstar, while her 10 points gave her 36 career points with the U18 Women鈥檚 team, setting a new Canadian record.

McDonald would record 4 goals and 3 assists in 6 games, putting her seventh in team scoring. Maynard would chip in with 1 goal and 3 assists in 6 games, while Korte would play 2 games, finishing the tournament with 1 assist.

Four current and one former 麻豆传媒入口 (CSSHL) student-athletes have been selected to represent Team Canada at the 2025 IIHF U18 Women鈥檚 World Championships.

Among the 24 players include four current and one former CSSHL student-athlete:

  • Ava Drabyk – RHA Kelowna
  • Alida Korte – RHA Kelowna
  • Danica Maynard – RHA Kelowna
  • Hayley McDonald – RHA Kelowna
  • Chloe Primerano – University of Minnesota (RHA Kelowna)

The tournament will run from January 4-12 in Vantaa, Finland. Team Canada will open the round robin with a game against Slovakia, with games against Switzerland and Czechia before the quarter-finals start January 9.

A netminder from Saskatoon, SK, Drabyk joined RHA Kelowna for the 2024/25 Female U18 Prep season. In 9 games this season she has a 9-0-0 record, 4 shutouts, 0.81 GAA and .957 SV%.

Another Saskatoon, SK product, Korte currently leads the Female U18 Prep division with 23 assists this season. Her 35 points in 16 games rank fourth in league scoring, and first on her team. Last year Korte had 19 goals and 33 assists in 28 games before helping RHA Kelowna capture the 2024 CSSHL Female U18 Prep Western Championship.

Maynard originally joined the CSSHL in 2020/21 with the Okanagan Hockey Academy (OHA) Female U17 Prep team. She would start the following season there, before joining their Female U18 Prep team for the remainder of the season. In 2022/23 the Osoyoos, BC defenseman tallied 27 points in 29 games, brining her OHA career totals to 64 points in 64 games. Maynard joined RHA Kelowna for the 2023/24 Female U18 Prep season, posting 46 points in 30 games. This season Maynard leads all defensemen with 8 goals, 22 assists and 30 points in 16 games.

A forward from East St. Paul, MB, McDonald joined RHA Kelowna for the 2024/25 season. In 17 games she has 14 goals and 17 assists for 31 points, which ranks fifth among all skaters, and second on her team.

Primerano became the the first female-skater ever selected in a CHL Draft when the Vancouver Giants selected her in the 13th round, 268th overall at the 2022 WHL Draft. Primerano still has another year of eligibility left in the CSSHL but graduated early to attend the University of Minnesota for the 2024/25 season. This season Primerano has 3 goals and 8 assists in 16 games.

In just two seasons in the Female U18 Prep division the North Vancouver, BC defender graduateed from the CSSHL as the most successful student-athlete in women’s history. Her 105 career assists are most all time among Female U18 Prep skaters while her 164 career points rank 1 back of the all-time record. Her 59 career goals are fourth most all-time, and most among defensemen, giving her the all-time career lead among defensemen in assists (105), goals (59) and points (164). The CSSHL has announced the nine division MVP’s of their respective Western and Eastern Championships.

U15: Bronsyn Mouille- Northern Alberta Xtreme

NAX cruised to their second straight U15 Western Championship and was led offensively by Mouille and his 21 points, 6 more than the next highest. The Peace River, AB forward had 62 points in 26 regular season games.

U15 Prep Jaggar John – Northern Alberta Xtreme

John finished the Western Championships with a record 19 points in 5 games, surpassing Kyle Crnkovic’s record of 18. John would lead NAX to their second straight U15 Prep Western Championship with four assists and the overtime winner in a 6-5 win over Edge School. The Fort McMurray, AB forward recored 38 points in 27 regular season games.

U17 Prep Tier I: Brendan Rudolph – Calgary International Hockey Academy

Rudolph finished fourth in Championships scoring but his hat-trick and one assist in the finals propelled CIHA to a 5-4 OT win over Prairie Hockey Academy as CIHA captured their first ever CSSHL Western Championship. The Seattle Thunderbirds 2023 WHL Draft pick finished the regular season with a team high 59 points in 31 games.

U17 Prep Tier II: Lucas Benn – St. George’s School

A seventh round selection by the Kamloops Blazers at the 2023 WHL Draft, Benn tallied 3 goals and 8 assists in 5 playoff games, including 2 assists in a 3-2 overtime win over SAHA in the finals. He would finish the regular season with 32 points in 29 games.

U17 Prep Tier III: Mark Lee – BWC Academy White

Lee posted 13 points in 5 playoff games including a goal and three assists in the Championship Finals to lead BWC Academy White to a 6-3 win over Shawnigan Lake. The Busan, South Korea forward finished the regular season with 24 goals and 16 assists in 26 games.

U18 Prep: Landon DuPont – Edge School

With 16 points in 5 games the Calgary, AB underage defenseman tied the U18 Prep Western Championships record set by Arizona Coyotes forward Dylan Guenther. He recorded a division best 11 assists, including 1 in the Championship Final as Edge defeated NAX 3-2 in overtime to secure back-to-back championships. DuPont tallied 62 points in 30 regular season games, a new record for defensemen in the U18 Prep division.

Female U18 Prep: Chloe Primerano – RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna

The University of Minnesota commit set Female U18 Prep Western Championship records with 15 assists and 20 points in 5 games as RHA Kelowna earned their third straight championship. During the regular season the Vancouver, BC defenseman led all skaters with 35 goals, 54 assists and 89 points, all Female U18 Prep single season records.

Eastern U17: Dominic Schnarr – Bishop’s College School

Schnarr recorded nine points in five Eastern Championship games including a hat-trick and an assist in the Finals to lift Bishop’s College to their first ever CSSHL Championship. The Woodstock, NB forward tallied nine points in eight regular season games.

Eastern U18: Oliver Kiraly – Ontario Hockey Academy Prep

Kiraly posted a 3-0-0 record with a 2.75 GAA and .898 SV% to lead OHA Prep to a 6-2 win in the Eastern Championship Finals. He would make 41 saves in the finals while scoring the second goalie goal in CSSHL history, and the first in the Eastern Division. The Budapest, Hungary netminder finished the regular season with a 10-1-1 record, 2.47 GAA and .920SV%.

Former 麻豆传媒入口 (CSSHL) netminder Nathan Airey is set to join the University of Minnesota for the 2023/24 season.

Airey joined the CSSHL for the 2018/19 U16 Prep season. In 18 games the Cochrane, AB netminder recorded a 10-8-0 record while posting 1 shutout with a 3.12 GAA, and .897 SV% with Prairie Hockey Academy.

Selected in the fifth round, 110th overall by the Kootenay Ice at the 2018 Western Hockey League (WHL) Draft, Airey would join International Hockey Academy for the 2019/20 U18 Prep season. In 29 games he would finish with a 5.50 GAA and .879 SV%.

In 2020/21 Airey would make the jump to the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL) with the Cranbrook Bucks. In three seasons with the team Airey would play 88 games while posting a 2.77 GAA, .912 SV%, and a 44-32-12 record with 6 shutouts. During the 2022/23 season he would be named the BCHL’s Top Goaltender.

The University of Minnesota is an NCAA Division I program located in Minneapolis, MN competing in the Big Ten Conference.

This April, the world鈥檚 most decorated hockey players will go head to head and compete at the 2021 IIHF Women鈥檚 World Championship in Halifax and Truro, N.S. Hockey Canada has invited 47 of the country鈥檚 most elite skaters to attend the BFL National Women鈥檚 Team Training Camp, presented by Sobeys, hosted in Calgary, Alta. from Jan. 17 – 30, 2021.

Among those 47 selected, four are 麻豆传媒入口 products.

Okanagan Hockey Academy alumni defenseman Micah Zandee-Hart (2011-12) is no stranger to camp this year, having laced up for Team Canada since 2018. Last season, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 IIHF Women鈥檚 World Championships were cancelled, however in 2018, the Saanichton, B.C. native helped Canada capture the bronze medal in their matchup against Russia.

New to camp this year is Pursuit of Excellence product Sarah Potomak (2014-15), who made her debut with Canada鈥檚 national team in 2015 at the 4 Nations Cup in Sweden. Potomak is a recent graduate of the University of Minnesota, where she played NCAA for the Gophers women鈥檚 hockey program and is now rostered on the Team Scotiabank for the PWHPA Calgary Region.

Also invited to camp this year are Amy Potomak, Pursuit of Excellence alumni (2015-16) and Sophie Shirley, former Okanagan Hockey Academy student athlete (2016-17). Potomak is currently attending the University of Minnesota and Shirley is at the University of Wisconsin, where they both play NCAA hockey. Neither Potomak nor Shirley will be in attendance at camp due to school and other previous commitments.
