The Alberta Junior Hockey League鈥檚 (AJHL) Sherwood Park Crusaders have signed a trio of Canadian Sports School Hockey League (CSSHL) student-athletes for the 2021/22 season.
Among the trio include two St. Albert, AB natives Ryan Arnold and Levi Fesyk who have both spent the last two seasons with the Northern Alberta Xtreme (NAX).
A seventh-round pick, 143rd overall by the Red Deer Rebels in the 2020 Western Hockey League (WHL) Bantam Draft, Arnold recorded 30 points in 29 games during the 2019/20 season with the NAX U15 Prep team. The next season he would tally four points in three games at the U16 Prep level during a COVID-19 shortened season. Ryan will join his older brother, Evan, who just finished his rookie season in Sherwood Park.
Fesyk recorded 18 goals and 18 assists in 34 U16 Prep games during the 2019/20 season. He would make the jump to the U18 Prep division this past season, finishing with two goals and three assists in six games.
Okanagan Hockey Academy (OHA) netminder Marek Pocherewny rounds out the trio signed by the Crusaders. Originally from Calgary, AB, Pocherewny joined the OHA U18 Prep team during the 2019/20 season, returning to the team this past season. In his two years at OHA Pocherewny played 28 games finishing with a 2.76 goals against average and a .905 save percentage. Pocherewny was drafted by the Calgary Hitmen in the third-round, 47th overall, in the 2018 WHL Bantam Draft.
