The Olds Grizzlys have added five Canadian Sports School Hockey League (CSSHL) alumni to their team for the 2021/22 Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) season.
The Grizzlys have added Dominique Cyr, Parker Scherr, Brayden Taschuk, and brothers Lowie and Tijs Vreys.
A two-year CSSHL student-athlete, Cyr played for the Northern Alberta Xtreme (NAX) during the 2018/19 and 2019/20 seasons. In 66 CSSHL games the Legal, AB defenseman would tally 26 points.
Scherr began the 2020/21 season with the OHA Edmonton U18 Prep team before joining the Grizzlys for the back half of the season. He had spent the previous two seasons with the Edmonton, AB CSSHL program, playing at the U15 Prep and U16 Prep levels. In 73 regular season games the defenseman recorded 28 points.
Taschuk joined the CSSHL for the 2017/18 season with the NAX U15 Prep team. He would spend the next three seasons with OHA Edmonton, playing in the U16 Prep and U18 Prep divisions. The forward tallied 34 points in 101 CSSHL games.
The Vreys brothers have played together in the CSSHL for the last five seasons. They originally joined the league in 2016/17, suiting up for the Okanagan Hockey Academy (OHA) U15 team. They would spend the next seasons at the U15 Prep and U16 Prep level, playing for Pacific Coast Hockey Academy (PCHA). They would go back to OHA for the 2019/20 and 2020/21 seasons, playing for their U18 Prep team. In 134 games Lowie would tally 9 goals and 30 assists, while Tijs scored 27 goals and 57 assists in 127 games.
