The tournament, which took place from December 10-17, saw some of the best junior A players from Canada, the US, Sweden and Slovakia gather in Truro, NS.

Canada East (3-1-0) would finish the round robin in second, while Canada West (1-3-0) finished fourth, with both teams advancing to the semi-finals. Canada East would defeat Sweden 7-5 while Canada West beat the US 4-3 in overtime to set up an all Canada final.

With Canada East having won the round robin matchup between the two clubs 5-2, Canada West would flip the script with a 7-2 victory to capture gold.

Jack Silverberg (Okotoks Oilers/OHA Edmonton) captained the team and netminder Erick Roest (Sherwood Park Crusaders/Northern Alberta Xtreme) was named a Tournament All-Star.

The Canada West roster included the following CSSHL alumni, all 10 of which play in the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL):

Matthew joined NAX for the 2019/20 U15 Prep season. In 25 games he would record 38 points, third amongst his team. At the conclusion of the season the Blazers selected Matthew in the fifth round, 107th overall at the 2020 WHL Draft.

The Edmonton, AB forward returned to NAX for the 2020/21 U18 Prep season, tallying one goal and five assists in six games.

Matthew joined the AJHL and Blackfalds Bulldogs in 2022/21, recording 8 points in 33 games. He has spent the last two seasons with the Drumheller Dragons, producing 16 goals, 25 assists and 41 points in 68 games.

Davis joined Edge School for the 2019/20 U15 Prep season, going 8-3-3 with a 3.66 GAA and .882 SV% in 14 games. The Calgary, AB netminder would play for the Edge U16 Prep team the following shortened season. In 2021/22 Davis played 22 U18 Prep games posting a record of 18-3-0 with 4 shutouts, a 1.84 GAA and .927 SV%.

This season Davis would be nominated for the CSSHL U18 Prep Top Goaltender Award after leading the league with 16 wins and finishing third with a 2.15 GAA. He would finish with a 16-1-1 record with 1 shutout and a .918 SV%. He would play four of the five Edge School playoff games, finishing with a record of 4-0-0, 1.99 GAA and .895 SV% as Edge captured the 2023 CSSHL U18 Prep Western Championship.

Zambakdjian has spent the last two seasons in the CSSHL with Mount Academy. During the 2021/22 Eastern U18 season Zambakdjian would lead all defensemen with 33 points in 28 games, earning CSSHL Eastern U18 Top Defenseman Award honours. The Laval, QC product would add two assists in three playoff games as Mount Academy U18 #1 captured the 2022 CSSHL Eastern U18 Championships.

A 10th round, 172nd overall pick by the Charlottetown Islanders at the 2021 Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) Draft, Zambakdjian played 10 games for the Mount Academy U18 Varsity team this season. He would finish with 2 goals and 8 assists, tying for the team lead among all Mount defensemen with 10 points.

A defenseman from Calgary, AB, Jacob Dennis spent three seasons in the CSSHL with Edge School. Dennis joined the program in 2019/20, recording 14 points in 28 U15 Prep games. He would play five games the following season at the U16 Prep level, finishing with six points. Dennis would finish his CSSHL career in 2021/22 with one point in four U18 Prep games.

Delta Hockey Academy forward Bailey Ewonus spent four seasons with the program. In 2018/19 he would lead the Delta U15 team in scoring with 46 points in just 30 games. He would suit up for the U16 Prep team the following season, recording 13 points in 27 games. The Coquitlam, BC product has spent the last two seasons with the Delta U18 Prep team, tallying 29 points in 40 games.

Selected in the second-round, 45^th overall at the 2021 Western Hockey League (WHL) Draft by the Swift Current Broncos, Otto Hanson played two seasons with Edge School. The Calgary, AB forward joined the program in 2020/21, recording six points in six U15 Prep games. As a teammate of Dennis in 2021/22, Hanson would score 5 goals and 12 assists in 34 games. Hanson would play one AJHL game as an affiliate player for the Bulldogs in 2021/22.

Lethbridge, AB forward Layne Loomer joined the Northern Alberta Xtreme (NAX) for the 2020/21 U16 Prep season, playing in just three games due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Loomer would return to NAX the following season, finishing third on his U18 Prep team in points with 50 in 34 games. In 2021/22 Loomer skated in five AJHL games as an affiliate player with the Okotoks Oilers, recording one assist.

Jack Plandowski spent the 2019/20 U15 Prep season with the Edge School U15 Prep team. In 30 games the Halifax, NS forward recorded 9 goals and 21 assists. The Blainville-Boisbriand Armada would select Plandowski with the 136^th pick in the 2021 Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) Entry Draft.

The Blackfalds Bulldogs have signed Kai Matthew, Kyle Uganecz, Wyatt Wilson, and Tristan Zarsky to Letters of Intent (LOI) for the 2021/22 AJHL season.

Matthew spent two seasons with the Northern Alberta Xtreme (NAX). In 2019/20 he recorded 38 points in 25 games at the U15 Prep level and was selected in the fifth round, 107^th overall by the Kamloops Blazers in the 2020 WHL Bantam Draft. This past season the forward would tally five points in six games suiting up for the NAX U18 Prep team.

A three-year student-athlete with OHA Edmonton, Uganecz finished his CSSHL career with 29 points in 66 games across the U16 Prep and U18 Prep levels. The 2003 born defenseman joins Blackfald from Lac La Biche, AB.

Wilson, who is from Swift Current, SK, spent two seasons with Yale Hockey Academy playing for them from 2017-2019. In 2017/18 he would play 25 U15 Prep games, recording nine points. At the conclusion of the season he would be selected in the sixth round, 116^th overall by the Lethbridge Hurricanes in the 2018 WHL Bantam Draft. The 6’3 defenseman would finish the 2018/19 season with 23 points in 36 U16 Prep games.

Another OHA Edmonton product, Zarsky spent two years in the CSSHL with the OHA Edmonton U18 Prep team. In 41 games the Edmonton, AB defenseman would tally 20 points.

The Bulldogs previously operated in the AJHL as the Calgary Mustangs before current owner Doug Quinn purchased the team and began the relocation process of moving them north to Blackfalds.
