Former Yale Hockey Academy student-athlete Shea Busch made his WHL debut with the Everett Silvertips after signing a WHL Scholarship and Development Agreement.

Busch made his WHL debut with Everett on December 7 recording a goal and an assist. On the season he has three points in two games.

The North Vancouver, BC forward joined the CSSHL for the 2020/21 U15 season, recording three points in five game with Yale. The following U15 Prep season he would record 12 goals and 17 assists in 30 games leading to the Lethbridge Hurricanes selecting him in the sixth round, 121st overall at the 2022 WHL Draft.

He would play 29 U18 Prep games with Yale during the 2022/23 season, producing 20 points in 29 games.

Busch is committed to NCAA Division I program Penn State University.

Former CSSHL student-athlete Gage Nagel has made his WHL debut after signing a WHL Scholarship and Development Agreement with the Moose Jaw Warriors.

The Moose Jaw, SK forward spent the 2021/22 U15 Prep season with Notre Dame, recording 8 goals and 8 assists in 29 games. The following U17 Prep campaign with Prairie Hockey Academy he would lead his team with 18 goals while finishing second with 32 points in 34 games.

Nagel was originally selected at the 2022 WHL Draft by the Lethbridge Hurricanes in the seventh round, 147th overall.

Former CSSHL student-athlete Wyatt Wilson has signed in the ECHL with the Orlando Solar Bears.

Wilson joined Yale Hockey Academy for the 2017/18 U15 Prep season finishing with 9 points in 25 games. At the conclusion of the season the Lethbridge Hurricanes would select the Swift Current, SK defender in the sixth round, 116th overall at the 2018 WHL Draft. The following U16 Prep season Wilson had 6 goals and 17 assists in 36 games with Yale.

In 2021/22 Wilson joined the Victoria Royals, recording 13 points in 59 games over parts of two WHL seasons. He would finish the 2022/23 season with the Winnipeg Ice, adding 5 assists in 16 games.

This past WHL campaign Wilson had 1 goal and 5 assists in 53 games with the Vancouver Giants.

Yale Hockey Academy student-athlete Matteo Di Stefano has signed a WHL Scholarship and Development Agreement with the Lethbridge Hurricanes.

Di Stefano joined the CSSHL for the 2022/23 U15 AAA season. In 25 games with Yale he recorded 14 goals and 21 assists. This past season he finished fourth in team scoring with 34 points in 27 games.

The Port Coquitlam, BC forward was selected in the sixth round, 124th overall by the Hurricanes at the 2024 WHL Draft.

Six Â鶹´«Ã½Èë¿Ú (CSSHL) alumni have taken home Canadian Hockey League (CHL) honours after successful seasons in the Western Hockey League (WHL).

Gavin McKenna – Medicine Hat Tigers

  • CHL Rookie of the Year Award The CHL Rookie of the Year Award is given out annually to the top rookie in the Canadian Hockey League
    • 34G-63A, 97 PTS, -4 in 61 GP during the 2023-24 season; as a 16-year-old rookie McKenna led the Tigers with 34 goals and 97 points
  • CHL Third Team-All Star Forward
    • 34G-63A, 97 PTS, -4 in 61 GP during the 2023-24 season; alongside Connor Bedard, the 2026 NHL Draft prospect is one of only two 16-year-old skaters in the WHL to record 90-plus points in a single season over the last 25 years
  • CHL All Rookie Team Forward
    • 34G-63A, 97 PTS, -4 in 61 GP during the 2023-24 season; as one of the CHL’s youngest players on an active roster during the 2023-24 season, McKenna registered 16 contests with three or more points, including four points on six occasions and two hat-tricks; his 97 points ranked second among CHL rookie this season

McKenna spent three season in the CSSHL, joining RHA Kelowna in 2020/21. He would play the following season as an underage player in the U18 Prep division, tallying 65 points in 35 games. The Tigers would select the Whitehorse, YT forward first overall at the 2022 WHL Draft. The following season McKenna would play for the South Alberta Hockey Academy U18 Prep team, once again leading the division in assists (38) and points (75), while his 37 goals were also a division best, earning him CSSHL U18 Prep MVP honours.

Cayden Lindstrom – Medicine Hat Tigers

  • CHL Top Prospect Award The CHL Top Draft Prospect Award presented by Kubota Canada is given out every year to the top eligible prospect for the NHL Entry Draft from the Canadian Hockey League. The award was first given in 1991.
    • 27G-19A, 46 PTS, +12 in 32 GP during the 2023-24 season; the Chetwynd, BC forward is expected to be a Top 5-10 selection at the upcoming 2024 NHL Entry Draft.

A third round pick by the Tigers at the 2021 WHL Draft, Lindstrom spent two seasons with Delta Hockey Academy, winning a 2022 CSSHL U17 Prep Western Championship. In 35 CSSHL games at the U15 Prep and U17 Prep level, Lindstrom tallied 70 points.

Zac Funk – Prince George Cougars

  • CHL First Team-All Star Forward
    • 67G-56A, 123 PTS, +56 in 68 GP during the 2023-24 season; the Washington Capitals prospect finished the season as the CHL’s leading goal scorer with 67 goals, making him just the 10th CHL skater since 2000 to top 65 goals in a single season

Funk joined Yale Hockey Academy for the 2017/18 U15 Prep season, producing 52 points in 28 games. The Calgary Hitmen would select him in the second round, 43rd overall at the 2018 WHL Draft.

Harrison Meneghin – Lethbridge Hurricanes 

  • CHL Third Team-All Star Goalie
    • 27-20-5-0 record, 2.59 GAA, .919 SV% & 3 SO in 53 GP during the 2023-24 season; ranked among the WHL leaders in several different categories, including save percentage (.919, second), shutouts (3, T-4th), minutes played (3,040, fourth) and saves (1,483, fifth).

Meneghin spent four season in the CSSHL with Delta Hockey Academy, posting a 33-14-1 record at the U15, U15 Prep and U18 Prep levels.

Luca Cagnoni – Portland Winterhawks

  • CHL Third Team-All Star Defenseman
    • 18G-72A, 90 PTS, +47 in 65 GP during the 2023-24 season; the San Jose Sharks prospect posted the first 90-point season by a WHL defenseman in the last 30 years

Undrafted to the WHL, Cagnoni spent three seasons with BWC Academy, playing in the U15 Prep, U16 Prep and U18 Prep divisions. In 75 total CSSHL games the fourth round NHL Draft Pick recorded 59 points.

Terik Parascak – Prince George Cougars

  • CHL All Rookie Team Forward
    • 43G-62A, 105 PTS, +49 in 68 GP during the 2023-24 season; the 2024 NHL Draft prospect led all CHL rookies during the 2023-24 season in goals (43) and scoring (105); his 105 points are the most by a rookie in the CHL since 2006-07 campaign (Patrick Kane – 145 points & Sam Gagner – 118 points)

Having spent four seasons with Edge School, Parascak is the CSSHL’s All-Time leading goal scorer with 119 goals, while his 217 points are second most all-time. Parascak was selected by Prince George in the fourth round of the 2021 WHL Draft.

Northern Alberta Xtreme (NAX) student-athletes Blake Chorney, Ben Harvey, Jaggar John and Reid Soper have signed Western Hockey League (WHL) Scholarship and Development Agreements with their respective WHL teams after being selected at the 2024 WHL Prospects Draft.

All four players helped NAX capture their second straight CSSHL U15 Prep Western Championship, with Harvey winning in both 2023 and 2024. John and Soper were both part of the NAX team that captured the 2023 CSSHL U15 Western Championship.

A forward from Nipawin, SK, the Vancouver Giants selected Chorney in the first round, 10th overall. In his first season in the CSSHL, Chorney finished second on NAX in goals (19), assists (23) and points (42) in 24 games. He added 12 points in 5 playoff games, second most among all skaters.

After producing 29 points in 30 games during the 2022/23 U15 Prep season with NAX, Harvey finished this season fourth in league scoring with 52 points. His 52 points and 33 assists were a team high, leading to the Prince Albert Raiders selecting the Edmonton, AB forward fourth overall. Harvey finished third in playoff scoring with 11 points. Prince Albert selected NAX U18 Prep student-athletes Daxon Rudolph and Riley Boychuk with the first two picks in the 2023 WHL Prospects Draft.

Having no first or second round picks, the Saskatoon Blades made John their first selection when they took him in the third round, 61st overall. The Fort McMurray, AB forward led NAX with 20 goals while finishing third with 38 points. He would take a giant leap forward in the playoffs, setting the single U15 Prep post-season record with 19 points in 5 games, including scoring the overtime winner in the Western Championships Final. This was the second straight year John led the playoffs in scoring as he produced 13 points in 5 games last season.

A 6’2 defenseman from Edmonton, AB, the Lethbridge Hurricanes selected Soper in the second round, 32nd overall. Soper tallied 10 points in 25 regular season games before adding 2 points in 5 playoff games. During the 2022/23 season Soper produced 20 points in 27 regular season games and an additional point in four playoff games.

Edge School student-athletes Brock England, Matthew Hilderman and Leif Oaten have signed Western Hockey League (WHL) Scholarship and Development Agreements with their respective WHL teams after being selected at the 2024 WHL Prospects Draft.

A nominees for the U15 Prep Division MVP Award, England was selected in the first round, 11th overall by the Seattle Thunderbirds. The Red Deer, AB forward finished his first season in the CSSHL with 18 goals and 22 assists in 24 games. He added a goal and an assist as an affiliate player for the Edge U18 Prep team during the 2024 Western Championships, helping them earn their second straight title.

After selecting England in the first round, Seattle doubled down on Edge forwards, selecting Hilderman in the second round, 23rd overall. The Cochrane, AB forward recorded a team high 22 goals while adding 18 assists in 23 games.

Oaten was the first goalie selected at the 2024 WHL Prospects Draft as the Lethbridge Hurricanes selected the Calgary, AB netminder in the third round, 58th overall. A CSSHL First Team All-Star (Prairie Division), Oaten finished tied for the league lead with 11 wins while posting a 2.90 GAA and .914 SV%.

Four CSSHL student-athletes have signed WHL Scholarship and Development Agreements with their respective teams.

Rowan Guest has spent the last two seasons with the Pacific Coast Hockey Academy (PCHA) U18 Prep team. In 60 career games the Saskatoon, SK defenseman recorded 17 goals and 38 assists. Guest has signed with the Kelowna Rockets after they selected him in the 11th round at the 2021 WHL Draft.

Undrafted to the WHL, Connor Pankratz will join Guest, having signed with the Rockets. The West Vancouver, BC forward started his CSSHL career in 2019/20 with the North Shore Warriors U15 team, capturing a CSSHL U15 Western Championship. He would move to St. George’s the following season, spending one season each with the U15 Prep and U17 Prep teams before playing for their U18 Prep team the last two years. He finished the 2023/24 season with 48 points in 29 games as captain of the U18 Prep team.

A forward from Kelowna, BC, Cameron Norrie has played the last four seasons in the CSSHL. He joined Okanagan Hockey Academy in 2020/21 playing one season each with their U15, U15 Prep and U16 Prep teams. During the 2023/24 season he joined the RHA Kelowna U18 Prep team, tallying 34 points in 30 games. Undrafted to the WHL, Norrie has signed with the Lethbridge Hurricanes.

A fourth round pick by the Spokane Chiefs at the 2023 WHL Draft, Rhett Sather spent the 2023/24 season with the Calgary International Hockey Academy (CIHA) U17 Prep team. In 29 games the Cochrane, AB defender tallied 10 goals and 20 assists. He added two assists in five playoff games as CIHA captured the 2024 CSSHL U17 Prep Western Championship title.

During the month of March and the CSSHL Western and Eastern Championships, nine CSSHL student-athletes have signed Western Hockey League (WHL) Scholarship and Development Agreements with their respective clubs.

A forward from North Vancouver, BC, Kai Anderson has spent the last three seasons in the CSSHL with BWC Academy. In 28 games with BWC Academy Gold U17 Prep, Anderson tallied 29 points. Anderson has signed with the Lethbridge Hurricanes after originally being selected in the sixth round, 117th overall at the 2023 WHL Draft.

Calgary, AB defenseman David Byrne joined Edge School Gold for the 2023/24 U17 Prep season, recording 24 points in 30 games. Selected in the seventh round, 144th overall at the 2023 WHL Draft, Byrne has played three WHL games with the Tri-City Americans after signing with them earlier this month.

The Wenatchee Wild have signed Radislav Dimitrov and Grady Wedman. Dimitrov, an Edmonton, AB defenseman, had 20 points in 29 games with OHA Edmonton U18 Prep, his second season with the program. Wedman joined the Northern Alberta Xtreme (NAX) Blue U17 Prep team this season, finishing with 25 points in 31 games. The Wild selected Dimitrov in the fifth round, 110th overall, and Wedman in the eighth round, 176th overall, at the 2023 WHL Draft.

Jake Henderson joined St. George’s School in 2021/22 before playing the last two seasons with Yale Hockey Academy. In 29 U18 Prep games this season the Burnaby, BC defenseman had 14 points. The Kelowna Rockets selected Henderson in the third round, 50th overall at the 2023 WHL Draft.

The Red Deer Rebels have signed forward Noah Milford and netminder Peyton Shore. The Rebels selected Shore in the fifth round, 100th overall, and Milford 50 picks later in the seventh round of the 2023 WHL Draft. Milford joined the Calgary International Hockey Academy (CIHA) U17 Prep team this season, tallying 46 points in 29 games while assisting on the overtime winner that gave CIHA their first ever CSSHL Western Championship. Shore has spent the last two seasons with RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg, playing for their U17 Prep team this season. The Winnipeg, MB netminder posted a 2.48GAA and .932SV% in 15 games this season.

After spending two seasons with the Yale Hockey Academy U15 Prep team, Brayden Ryan-Mackay joined South Alberta Hockey Academy’s (SAHA) U18 Prep team this season, finishing with 37 points in 30 games. The Medicine Hat Tigers selected the Calgary, AB forward in the sixth round, 119th overall at the 2023 WHL Draft.

A defenseman from Oak Bluff, MB, Daxon Yerex has played the last two seasons with RHA Winnipeg. In 30 U18 Prep games this season he recorded 16 points. Yerex made his WHL debut with the Swift Current Broncos, tallying one assist, earlier this month after being selected by them in the third round, 52nd overall at the 2023 WHL Draft.

The CSSHL has announced the six division winners of the January Player of the Month.

U15: Aiden Andrews – RHA Kelowna

With 11 goals and 7 assists in 6 games in January the Vancouver, BC forward now sits second in team scoring with 40 points in 25 games. His 23 goals are most on his team and rank seventh among all U15 skaters. Last season Andrews tallied 13 points in 27 U15 games with RHA Kelowna.

U15 Prep: Ryker Doka – Notre Dame Hounds

With 18 points in 12 games this season Doka sits 12th among all U15 Prep defensemen. His 1.50 points per game is second among defensemen only to Brock Cripps (3.00). In five games in January the Regina, SK product recorded five goals and eight assists. After starting the season with 0 points in his first 4 games, he has since tallied 18 points in his last 8 games.

U17 Prep: Cole Fisher – South Alberta Hockey Academy

A forward from Dunmore, AB, Fisher tallied 11 goals and 8 assists in 8 games in January. Selected in the 11th round of the 2022 WHL Draft by the Lethbridge Hurricanes, Fisher currently leads his team in goals (15) and points (30) in 19 games. Fisher spent last season with the Edge School U17 Prep team, tallying 14 points in 29 games.

A 2022 WHL Draft ninth round pick by the Brandon Wheat Kings, Van Oene tallied 7 goals and 8 assists in just 3 games in January. Female Prep: Morgan Jackson – Shawnigan Lake School

Jackson tallied 7 goals and 10 assists in 4 games in January, bringing her season total to 51 points in 16 games, second most in the Female Prep division. In 42 career CSSHL games the Courtney, BC forward has 109 points. Committed to Northeastern University for the 2024/25 NCAA season, Jackson has represented Team Canada U18 twice, winning gold in 2023 and bronze in 2024.

Eastern U18: Gabriel Le Houillier – Bishop’s College School

With 5 goals and 7 assists in just 2 games, Le Houillier and Bishop’s burst onto the scene in January, having not played and CSSHL games in 2023. The Lorraine, QC forward currently sits with 8 goals and 11 assists in 5 games. His 3.80 points-per-game is best among all Eastern U18 Prep skaters.
