Northern Alberta Xtreme (NAX) student-athletes Blake Chorney, Ben Harvey, Jaggar John and Reid Soper have signed Western Hockey League (WHL) Scholarship and Development Agreements with their respective WHL teams after being selected at the 2024 WHL Prospects Draft.

All four players helped NAX capture their second straight CSSHL U15 Prep Western Championship, with Harvey winning in both 2023 and 2024. John and Soper were both part of the NAX team that captured the 2023 CSSHL U15 Western Championship.

A forward from Nipawin, SK, the Vancouver Giants selected Chorney in the first round, 10th overall. In his first season in the CSSHL, Chorney finished second on NAX in goals (19), assists (23) and points (42) in 24 games. He added 12 points in 5 playoff games, second most among all skaters.

After producing 29 points in 30 games during the 2022/23 U15 Prep season with NAX, Harvey finished this season fourth in league scoring with 52 points. His 52 points and 33 assists were a team high, leading to the Prince Albert Raiders selecting the Edmonton, AB forward fourth overall. Harvey finished third in playoff scoring with 11 points. Prince Albert selected NAX U18 Prep student-athletes Daxon Rudolph and Riley Boychuk with the first two picks in the 2023 WHL Prospects Draft.

Having no first or second round picks, the Saskatoon Blades made John their first selection when they took him in the third round, 61st overall. The Fort McMurray, AB forward led NAX with 20 goals while finishing third with 38 points. He would take a giant leap forward in the playoffs, setting the single U15 Prep post-season record with 19 points in 5 games, including scoring the overtime winner in the Western Championships Final. This was the second straight year John led the playoffs in scoring as he produced 13 points in 5 games last season.

A 6’2 defenseman from Edmonton, AB, the Lethbridge Hurricanes selected Soper in the second round, 32nd overall. Soper tallied 10 points in 25 regular season games before adding 2 points in 5 playoff games. During the 2022/23 season Soper produced 20 points in 27 regular season games and an additional point in four playoff games.
