Former Ontario Hockey Academy (OHA) student-athlete Brayden Besner has signed in the QMJHL with Blainville-Boisbriand Armada.

A forward from South Glengarry, ON, Besner spent the 2022/23 CSSHL East U17 season with OHA. In 10 games he would record a division best 16 assists and 27 points while being named MVP. He would add three goals and one assist in four playoff games to help OHA capture the 2023 CSSHL U17 Eastern Championship.

Having played three games for them as an affiliate in 2022/23, Besner joined the Hawkesbury Hawks of the CCHL full-time in 2023/24. He would record 17 goals and 14 assists in 55 games while being named to the CCHL Academic All-Star Team, the CCHL All-Rookie Team and the CCHL High School Academic Player of the Year.

Originally selected by the Kitchener Rangers ninth overall at the 2023 OHL U18 Priority Selection Draft, Besner had 35 points in 26 games with the Hawks this season.

Former CSSHL student-athlete Kaden Schneider has signed in the OHL with the Kitchener Rangers after they selected him in the 14th round, 271st overall at the 2023 OHL Draft.

The Calgary, AB defenseman joined Edge School for the 2020/21 U15 AAA season. The following U15 Prep campaign he had 9 assists in 27 games.

In 2022/23 he joined the Northern Alberta Xtreme (NAX) U17 travel team, tallying 11 points in 40 games.

Notre Dame Hounds netminder Owen MacLean was selected at the 2024 OHL Priority Selection Draft by the Oshawa Generals.

The Generals selected the Ottawa, ON goalie in the 12th round, 239th overall. MacLean joined the CSSHL for the 2022/23 U15 Prep season. In 16 games he would record a 6.70GAA and .865SV% with a 2-10-1 record.

This season with the Notre Dame U17 Prep Red team he would finish with a 6-5-0 record, 4.20GAA and .902SV%.

MacLean becomes the seventh CSSHL player selected at an OHL Draft.

Braeden O’Keefe has signed an Ontario Hockey League (OHL) Standard Player Agreement (SPA) with the Hamilton Bulldogs, making his debut with the team on December 15, 2021.

O’Keefe was selected by the Bulldogs in the 14th round, 266th overall in the 2021 OHL Priority Selection Draft. He joined Ontario Hockey Academy U18 Prep in the Â鶹´«Ã½Èë¿Ú (CSSHL) for the 2021/22 season. In 18 games the St. Catharines, ON forward has tallied 16 goals and 18 assists for an Eastern Division best 34 points.

A pair of former Â鶹´«Ã½Èë¿Ú (CSSHL) student-athletes have signed National Hockey League (NHL) contracts.

Brandon Duhaime has signed a two-year contract extension with the Minnesota Wild, while Pavel Gogolev has signed his three-year entry level contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Duhaime was drafted by the Wild in the fourth round of the 2016 NHL Entry Draft. Duhaime spent three seasons with Pursuit of Excellence (POE), including two in the CSSHL, joining the program in 2011/12. In 37 U18 Prep CSSHL games the Parkland, FL forward recorded 32 points. He would go on to play one season in the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL) for the Merritt Centennials, along with one season in the United States Hockey League (USHL).

In 2016/17 Duhaime would join NCAA program Providence College, spending three seasons there before signing his NHL entry level contract with the Wild on April 17, 2019. He would spend the 2019/20 and 2020/21 seasons in the American Hockey League (AHL) with the Iowa Wild, tallying 29 points in 87 games.

Gogolev spent the 2014/15 season in the CSSHL, as he played for POE for two seasons. In 16 U15 Prep games the Russian forward tallied 12 goals and 5 assists. He would make the jump to the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) in 2016/17. He would play four seasons in the OHL with the Peterborough Petes and Guelph Storm, recording 182 points in 219 games, winning an OHL Championship in 2018/19 with the Storm.

Having went undrafted in the NHL Entry Draft, Gogolev would split the 2019/20 season between Väsby IK in Sweden and the AHL’s Toronto Marlies. After an impressive AHL campaign that saw him finish with 6 goals and 6 assists in 13 game, the Leafs signed Gogolev to an NHL entry level contract on July 29, 2021.

The Ontario Hockey League (OHL) held its annual Priority Selection Draft June 4-5, 2021 and four players with ties to the Canadian Sports School Hockey League heard their names called.

Current Notre Dame Hounds Thomas Chafe and Owen Thomas, along with former Hound JJ Franceschetti, and West Van Warriors alum Tayte Landry were all selected in this year’s draft.

Chafe was the first to hear his name called when he was taken in the third-round, 47th overall by the Owen Sound Attack. Originally from St. John’s NL, Chafe had 39 points in 30 U15 Prep games during the 2019/20 season. In six games at the U18 level, Chafe finished with four points in a COVID-19 shortened 2020/21 campaign.

Landry spent the 2018/19 and 2019/20 seasons with the Warriors U15 and U15 Prep teams before returning out East to Toronto, ON for his draft year. In 59 CSSHL games the 6’4 defensemen scored 4 goals and added 19 assists. Landry was selected in the sixth round 109th overall by the North Bay Battalion.

Originally from Chicago, IL, Thomas joined Notre Dame’s U16 Prep team this season, playing in six games. The 6’4 defensemen scored once while recording six assists. Thomas was selected in the seventh round, 132nd overall by the Sarnia Sting.

Selected in the eighth round, 143rd overall by the Erie Otters, Franceschetti played for the Hounds U15 Prep team during the 2019/20 campaign. The Toronto, ON forward scored 16 goals to go along with 11 assists in 32 CSSHL games.
