Former CSSHL and current Prince Albert Raiders defenseman Daxon Rudolph has been named the January CSSHL WHL Alumni Player of the Month.

Selected first overall at the 2023 WHL Draft, Rudolph played 13 games for the Raiders in January. To kick-start 2025 he would go on a 12 game point streak, tallying 2 goals and 13 assists. In his rookie WHL season, the Lacombe, AB product has 4 goals and 22 assists along with a +10 rating in 42 games.

Rudolph joined the CSSHL for the 2022/23 U15 Prep season, leading all defensemen with 50 points in 30 games. He would add 12 more points in 5 playoff games, including the OT winner in the finals as NAX captured their first ever CSSHL U15 Prep Western Championship. At the conclusion of the season Rudolph was named the CSSHL U15 Prep Top Defenseman.

The following U18 Prep season he would record 22 goals and 37 assists in 28 games with NAX, earning CSSHL U18 Prep Top Freshman and Co-MVP Honours, while being named a CSSHL U18 Prep (Prairie Division) First Team All-Star.

This season he would also play five games for Team Canada White at the U17 World Hockey Challenge, helping Canada White capture a Gold Medal.

Four current or former CSSHL student-athletes have signed in the Canadian Hockey League (CHL) ahead of the roster deadlines.

Rafael Cloutier and Lynden Larsen have signed in the QMJHL, while Jackson Kostiuk and Ethan Merner have signed in the WHL.

Cloutier joined Bourget College ahead of the 2021/22 East U17 season. In 33 games the Pointe-Fortune, QC forward had 9 goals and 8 assists. The following East U18 season he would record 5 goals and 8 assists in 14 games with Bourget. The Clarkson University commit has signed with the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada, having recorded two points in three games so far this season.

A forward from Verdun, QC, Larsen has spent the 2024/25 CSSHL East U17 season with Selwyn House School recording a team best 11 assists and 16 points in 5 games. Larsen, who was selected in the fourth round, 63rd overall at the 2024 QMJHL Draft, has played six games with Acadie-Bathurst Titan, tallying two assists.

Selected in the 10th round, 216th overall by the Saskatoon Blades at the 2021 WHL Draft, Kostiuk has signed with the Prince Albert Raiders, recording one assist in two games. The East St. Paul. MB forward played three seasons in the CSSHL with RHA Winnipeg at the U15 Prep and U18 Prep levels. In 71 career CSSHL games he recorded 89 points, including 47 during the 2022/23 U18 Prep season. Kostiuk has spent the last two seasons in the MJHL with the Steinbach Pistons, tallying 34 points in 29 games this season before joining the Raiders.

Merner joined Okanagan Hockey Academy for the 2019/20 U15 Prep season, producing 12 points in 30 games. The Kelowna, BC forward would have three points in two U15 Prep games with Yale Hockey Academy the following season before recording 44 points in 32 U17 Prep games in 2021/22, leading to the Calgary Hitmen selecting him in the fourth round, 80th overall at the 2021 WHL Draft. Committed to NCAA program Merrimack College, Merner has signed with the Hitmen.

The Red Deer Rebels have signed former Prairie Hockey Academy student-athlete Dmitri Toporowski to a WHL Scholarship and Development Agreement.

The Shrewsbury, Massachusetts defenseman joined Prairie for the 2022/23 U18 Prep season. In 31 CSSHL games he recorded 4 goals and 11 assists.

This season Toporowski played 18 SJHL games split between the Melfort Mustangs and La Ronge Ice Wolves, tallying 3 goals and 6 assists. He has since played four games in the WHL with the Rebels, posting one assist.

Toporowski was originally selected in the first round, 21st overall by the Prince Albert Raiders at the 2021 WHL US Prospect Draft.

Former Delta Hockey Academy student-athlete Terrell Goldsmith has signed an NHL Entry Level Contract with the Utah Hockey Club.

The Fort St. James, BC defenseman joined Delta Hockey Academy White for the 2018/19 U15 Prep season tallying 8 points in 28 games. The following U15 Prep season he would post 19 points in 23 games with Delta Green leading to the Prince Albert Raiders selecting him in the first round, 15th overall at the 2020 WHL Draft.

Goldsmith would split the 2020/21 season between Delta at the U17 Prep level and with the Raiders in the WHL, playing a total of 19 games with 4 points.

He would join Prince Albert full time in 2021/22, recording 2 goals and 2 assists in 58 games. During the 2022/23 season he would add 3 goals and 6 assists in 58 games. At the conclusion of the season the Arizona Coyotes would select him in the fourth round, 102nd overall at the 2023 NHL Entry Draft.

Goldsmith spent the 2023/24 season with Prince Albert tallying a career high 3 goals, 12 assists and 15 points in 66 games. This season he has one assist in six WHL games with the Tri-City Americans.

12 former 麻豆传媒入口 (CSSHL) student-athletes have been selected to represent Team Canada at the 2024 U17 World Challenge.

The tournament, which is set to take place November 3-9 at Progressive Auto Sales Arena in Sarnia, ON, will see 44 players represent Team Canada White and Team Canada Red.

Among the 44 players selected are 15 from the WHL, 12 of which played in the CSSHL including 2023 and 2024 WHL Draft first overall picks Daxon Rudolph and Landon DuPont. After joining fellow CSSHL alumnus Connor Bedard as the only two players in WHL History to receive Exceptional Status, DuPont is the lone 2009 born player on the Team Canada rosters.

The 12 CSSHL alumni represent six different CSSHL member programs: Okanagan Hockey Academy (3), RHA Kelowna (3), Edge School (2), Northern Alberta Xtreme (2), Delta Hockey Academy, and Pilot Mound Hockey Academy.

The 2024 U17 World Challenge kicks off on November 3, with Canada White taking on Czechia at 3:30 p.m. ET and Canada Red facing off against Finland at 7:30 p.m. ET. Teams will play two preliminary-round games before the medal round, which concludes on Nov. 9 with the medal games, as well as the fifth-place game. The event will also feature pre-tournament games in Sarnia, Petrolia and Forest on November 1.

The 2023 U17 World Challenge saw 13 CSSHL alumni compete for Team Canada Red and White.聽

Undrafted to the WHL, Richter spent the 2023/24 U17 Prep season with BWC Academy Gold. In 31 games the Smithers, BC defender had 3 goals and 20 assists. Richter, who signed with the Prince George Cougars, will join Delta Hockey Academy for the 2024/25 U18 Prep season.

Northern Alberta Xtreme (NAX) student-athletes Blake Chorney, Ben Harvey, Jaggar John and Reid Soper have signed Western Hockey League (WHL) Scholarship and Development Agreements with their respective WHL teams after being selected at the 2024 WHL Prospects Draft.

All four players helped NAX capture their second straight CSSHL U15 Prep Western Championship, with Harvey winning in both 2023 and 2024. John and Soper were both part of the NAX team that captured the 2023 CSSHL U15 Western Championship.

A forward from Nipawin, SK, the Vancouver Giants selected Chorney in the first round, 10th overall. In his first season in the CSSHL, Chorney finished second on NAX in goals (19), assists (23) and points (42) in 24 games. He added 12 points in 5 playoff games, second most among all skaters.

After producing 29 points in 30 games during the 2022/23 U15 Prep season with NAX, Harvey finished this season fourth in league scoring with 52 points. His 52 points and 33 assists were a team high, leading to the Prince Albert Raiders selecting the Edmonton, AB forward fourth overall. Harvey finished third in playoff scoring with 11 points. Prince Albert selected NAX U18 Prep student-athletes Daxon Rudolph and Riley Boychuk with the first two picks in the 2023 WHL Prospects Draft.

Having no first or second round picks, the Saskatoon Blades made John their first selection when they took him in the third round, 61st overall. The Fort McMurray, AB forward led NAX with 20 goals while finishing third with 38 points. He would take a giant leap forward in the playoffs, setting the single U15 Prep post-season record with 19 points in 5 games, including scoring the overtime winner in the Western Championships Final. This was the second straight year John led the playoffs in scoring as he produced 13 points in 5 games last season.

A 6’2 defenseman from Edmonton, AB, the Lethbridge Hurricanes selected Soper in the second round, 32nd overall. Soper tallied 10 points in 25 regular season games before adding 2 points in 5 playoff games. During the 2022/23 season Soper produced 20 points in 27 regular season games and an additional point in four playoff games.

CSSHL student-athletes Aden Bouchard, Brock Cripps, and Torretto Marrelli have signed WHL Scholarship and Development Agreements with their respective WHL teams.

A defenseman from Airdrie, AB, Bouchard joined Edge School for the 2023/24 U15 Prep season. In 27 games he would tally 9 goals and 27 assists for 36 points, all a season high among Edge defensemen. 2023/24 was a record setting season for Cripps as he set the single season U15 Prep record for goals (25) and points (70) by a defensemen. In his two seasons U15 Prep season with St. George’s School he amassed 108 points in 52 career games, best among defenseman and sixth all-time among all skaters. This season Cripps lead all skaters with 70 points and was named a First Team All-Star (B.C. Division), Top Defenseman and MVP.聽 Cripps has signed with the Prince Albert Raiders after they selected him 2nd overall at the 2024 WHL Prospects Draft.

After going undrafted at the 2022 WHL Prospects Draft, Marrelli has signed with the Vancouver Giants. The Devon, AB forward joined the Northern Alberta Xtreme (NAX) for the 2021/22 U15 Prep season, finishing with 18 points in 30 games. The following U17 Prep season he would record 15 goals and 34 assists in 34 games. He would add four points in four playoff games as NAX captured the 2023 CSSHL U17 Prep Western Championship. This season Marrelli finished fourth on the NAX U18 Prep team with 46 points in 29 games.

The Prince Albert Raiders have signed a pair of netminders to WHL Scholarship and Development Agreements.

A third round pick, 49th overall at the 2023 WHL Draft by the Raiders, Steele Bass is in his third season in the CSSHL. The High River, AB product joined RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna for the 2021/22 U15 Prep season, recording a 13-2-1 record with 2 shutouts, a .930 SV% and 2.41 GAA. Last season Bass played 14 U15 Prep games, finishing with a 13-1-0 record, 3 shutouts, a .916 SV% and a 2.06 GAA. This season Bass is playing for the RHA Kelowna U18 Prep team. He owns a 5-1-1 record, .900 SV% and a 3.21 GAA.

Nathan Preston spent four seasons in the CSSHL with Okanagan Hockey Academy. The Penticton, BC goalie joined his hometown OHA in 2019/20, playing 19 U15 games. Preston would play 6 U16 Prep games the next season, followed by 19 for OHA White U17 Prep the following year. Last season Preston played for the OHA U18 Prep team, finishing with an 8-6-1 record, 4 shutouts, .923 SV% and a 2.13 GAA.

Former 麻豆传媒入口 (CSSHL) student-athletes Logan Dowhaniuk, Dante Giannuzzi and Trevor Thurston have signed ECHL Contracts.

Dowhaniuk has signed with the Fort Wayne Komets after spending the last five seasons in the Western Hockey League (WHL). Originally selected in the second round, 26th overall at the 2017 WHL Draft, Dowhaniuk recorded 22 goals and 79 assists in 248 WHL games split between the Edmonton Oil Kings and Moose Jaw Warriors. The Sherwood Park, AB defender was part of the Oil Kings WHL Championship winning team in 2021/22.

Dowhaniuk spent one season in the CSSHL with the OHA Edmonton U18 Prep team, recording 7 goals and 10 assists in 36 games.

A goaltender from Winnipeg, MB, Giannuzzi spent three seasons in the CSSHL with RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg. Joining the program in 2016/17 with the RHA Winnipeg U15 Prep team, Giannuzzi would also suit up for their U16 Prep and U18 Prep teams. In total he would play 48 games for RHA Winnipeg, earning a 29-14-0 record with 5 shutouts.

Giannuzzi would spend the majority of his junior career with the Portland Winterhawks, the team that drafted him in the fifth round, 99th overall at the 2017 WHL Draft. In 5 WHL seasons Giannuzzi would finish with a 59-32-10 record, 3.07 GAA, .896 SV% and 5 shutouts.

The Utah Grizzlies have signed Giannuzzi for the 2023/24 ECHL season.

Selected in the fourth round, 81st overall by the Kamloops Blazers at the 2017 WHL Draft, Thurston would play 107 WHL games with the Blazers, Lethbridge Hurricanes and Prince Albert Raiders. He would finish the 2022/23 season in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) with the Cape Breton Eagles, tallying 21 points in 48 games.

Thurston played four seasons in the CSSHL with Delta Hockey Academy, recording 105 points split between 100 games at the U15, U15 Prep, U16 Prep and U18 Prep levels. Thurston would win a CSSHL U15 Championship in 2015/16.

The North Delta, BC defenseman has signed with the Reading Royals for next season.
