With a 6-3 win over Shawnigan Lake School, BWC Academy White captured the programs third ever 麻豆传媒入口 (CSSHL) Western Championship Saturday.
Dominic Seminoff (2G) opened the scoring just 55 seconds in, beating Will Stonehouse glove side with a wrist shot off the rush. Mark Lee (1G, 3A) extended the lead midway through the period with a fantastic display of puck skills, leading to his fifth goal of the tournament. Nigel Alberts (2G) went bar-down late in the first to get Shawnigan on the board and within one.
The second period would start with Lee finding Gabriel Kaminski (1G, 1A) all alone for the backdoor tap-in before Brandon Burns scored a breakaway goal 1:40 later. Alberts countered just five seconds later for Shawnigan but Lee would make another great pass, this time to set-up Seminoff, for his second goal of the game 32 seconds after the Alberts tally. Ethan Naus scored his third of the Championships with 3:01 left in the period to bring Shawnigan within two heading into the third.
A tight checking third period saw Shawnigan tally six shots to BWC Academy White’s five, but an Oleksii Zhekov power play goal with 6:14 remaining secured the BWC Academy White victory.
Josh Wu (31/34) made 31 saves in net, once again standing tall between the pipes. Will Stonehouse (14/20) faced 20 shots in the loss.
BWC Academy’s other CSSHL Western Championships came at the U18 Prep level in 2022 and U16 Prep in 2017.
