GAME DAY RECAP: December 8-9, 2024

Edge School (4) vs Pilot Mound Hockey Academy (2) U15 Prep

After exchanging goals through the opening twenty, Dylan Sherban would polish off a sweet passing play only 9-seconds into the second to put Edge up by one. Later in the frame, Hinata Hashimoto (2G) would bang home his second of the morning to once again tie things up for Pilot Mound as they look to take down Edge School for a consecutive day. However, Edge would find their groove in the third as George Matheos and Drake Davis scored just under two minutes apart to establish a two goal lead. Edge would hold on to this lead, putting themselves back in the win column after falling 2-1 to the Buffaloes on Saturday.听

RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg (2) vs Prairie Hockey Academy (6) U18 Prep

Moose Jaw Warriors prospect Benson Hirst (2G) potted two goals to give Prairie the initial lead. Jake Ritson was able to get one back before the buzzer sounded, leaving us with a score of 2-1 through twenty. Kale Pratte would open the scoring in the second for Prairie, the first in a three goal chain to extend their lead to a formidable 5-1. Jett Deschamps snuck one back to give RHA Winnipeg a fighting chance in the third. However, Cameron Beisal (27/29) would keep the cage locked down along with a strong defensive performance, limiting RHA Winnipeg to 5-shots in the third. Grant Gliege (1G, 1A) potted a late insurance marker to ensure the win for Prairie.听

Fort Erie International Academy (0) vs Stanstead College (9) East U17

Everything was going right for Stanstead on Sunday as they cleared their way through Fort Erie en route to a 9-0 victory. Ryder Busto (2G) and Elijah Arrigo (2G) each picked up a pair of goals while Eelis Lehtoranta (1G, 2A) led the scoresheet with a three point outing. Stanstead would limit Fort Erie to only 9-shots as well, all of which would be steered aside by German-born Jonas Murrer (9/9), picking up his third shutout of the season.

Okanagan Hockey Academy (2) vs Northern Alberta Xtreme (3) U15

Following a scoreless first, OHA would find themselves up 2-0 in the second as Jett Wood (1G, 1A) and Jace Williams found twine. Come the third, NAX resurged and rallied back for three unanswered goals to take this contest. Gavin Van Brabant opened the scoring just 41-seconds into the frame while two late goals from Easton Mattersdorfer and Eli Hudson put NAX ahead. Grayson Scriba (19/21) would stop all six OHA shots in the third, backing NAX to their 16th win of the campaign.

BWC Academy (6) vs Shawnigan Lake School (3) U15 Prep

Berkeley Walter (41/46) gave it his all in the first as BWC Academy was outshooting Shawnigan heavily through one. Two would manage to squeak past late as Kristian Lima (2G) and Cohen Baker would get BWC Academy up by a pair before the ice clean. However, Shawnigan would move some ground in the second as Lucas Partridge-Mather (2G, 1A) snagged a pair of goals to tie this game up at 2-2 before the buzzer sounded. Come the third, BWC Academy got back in their element, scoring twice in the opening three minutes thanks to the efforts of Ben Campbell and Lima. Darwin Ketch (1G, 1A) would sneak one more past Mya Young (20/23) to make things a two goal game, but a late pair from Liam Bordt and Logan Henry (1G, 1A) sealed up this contest. Young made 20-saves in the win, improving her individual record to 6-0-0 while Walter made 41-saves in the hard fought battle.

Rink Hockey Academy Winnipeg (1) vs Edge School (8) U15

A six point effort from Brody Antignani (2G, 4A) and a four goal performance from Luke Tschetter (4G, 1A) bolstered Edge School to an 8-1 win over RHA Winnipeg. Lachlan Kisio (3A) and Charlie Near (3A) would also post three helpers each in the dominant win. Hudson Andrews (15/16) picked up the win in goal while Haize Brightnose (64/72) made a formidable 64-saves in the loss.

Bishop’s College School (7) vs Lower Canada College (1) East U17

Lukas Royko opened the scoring for LCC part way through the first but a quick response from Gavin Rusenstrom (1G, 1A) would keep things tied through one. Come the second, Bishop鈥檚 College would explode for six unanswered goals. Jan Vladar (2G) potted a pair while Jayden Dyke (1G, 1A) garnered two points. Tyler Fuicelli (32/33) played perfect after surrendering the opener, making 32-saves through sixty to ensure Bishop鈥檚 College the comfortable win.

Delta Hockey Academy Black (6) vs BWC Academy (2) U15

A late tally from Ryder Bui gave BWC Academy the lead through twenty in our CSSHL Featured Game. However, Delta Black would catch fire in the second. Cash Field scored a beauty to tie things up early, making a strong move to his backhand before sliding one past Jordan Bigelow (30/36). Ethan Kartadanita would restore BWC Academy鈥檚 lead shortly after but Delta Black would begin to inflict their offensive presence shortly after. Delta Black would close the frame with three unanswered goals kicked off by Taegeon Park. Jake Gagno would strike with a shorthanded goal soon after while Jack Delaney scored in the late stage of the frame. Delta Black would add another two in the third, ensuring their victory over the potent BWC Academy. Brayden Allan (23/25) made 23-saves in the win.

OHA Edmonton (11) vs Prairie Hockey Academy (5) U17 Prep

Goals came quite easy between OHA Edmonton and Prairie Hockey Academy in a Sunday tussle in Caronport, SK. Miles Hartmann (2G, 1A) would score the first鈥檚 lone goal. However, OHA Edmonton would strike a total of seven times in the second. Prairie would come back with four of their own in the third, but another three from OHA Edmonton kept their large lead intact. Keenan Fox (2G, 3A) posted a five point outing while Kai Richards (2G, 1A), Jevyn Singh Gill (2G, 1A) and Hartmann posted two goal performances. Seamus Dillon (3G) had a hat-trick for Prairie, scoring all three goals in the third.

Wenatchee Wild Hockey Academy (1) vs RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna (14) U17 Prep

Brody Bradshaw (3G, 1A) and Joshua Johnstone (3G) each picked up hat-tricks in Sunday鈥檚 triumph over Wenatchee. Furthermore, Carson Smith (2G, 2A) and Maddox Bentley (4A) would each snag four point performances. Asher Netherton (23/24) picked up an assist along with the win in goal, only being beaten by Liam Craggan in the first.

King’s Edgehill School (4) vs Bishop’s College School (8) East U18

After exchanging goals early, Milan Turena (1G, 1A) would put Bishop鈥檚 College up by one through twenty. King鈥檚 Edgehill would show some pushback in the second as Alex Doyle recorded a shorthanded goal along with a late goal from Carter Cooling. However, Dominic Schnarr (3G, 1A) posted the opening and closing goal in the frame, keeping Bishop鈥檚 up by one through two. Bishop鈥檚 would find their groove in the third, outscoring King鈥檚 Edgehill 4-1 in the frame. Schnarr would complete his hat-trick early on before Kayden Robitaille (2G) added a pair of his own.

Coeur d鈥橝lene Hockey Academy (0) vs STAR Hockey Academy (3) U17 Prep

Both goalies faced 26 shots with Sam Trnecka (26/26) outduelling Jackson Wagner (23/26) for his second shutout of the season. Aleks Ostrovskyy and Ewen Willers scored first period goals exactly seven minutes apart. After a scoreless second period, Zak Stabbler (1G, 1A) scored a power play goal 5:05 into the third to give STAR a 3-0 lead. Tyler Gillespie (2A) had two assists in the STAR win.听

Okanagan Hockey Academy (7) vs Wenatchee Wild Hockey Academy (5) U18 Prep

A high scoring affair started off with Simon Cecconi and Ethan Makokis scoring two straight for OHA. Otaro Inoue (1G, 1A) responded for Wenatchee 1:42 later as the game went into the intermission with OHA up by one. Geon Park (1G, 1A) tied the game 5:41 into the second but OHA would lead by two after 40 as Charlie Grant (2G, 1A) and Cohen Handby (1G, 2A) each found the back of the net. Fischer Nicolet (1G, 1A) scored his third of the season for Wenatchee 2:50 into the third but OHA had a quick response once again with Grant scoring 50 seconds later and Eli Tverdovsky adding a goal of his own shortly later. Dylan Crossley tried to spark a Wenatchee comeback but Brayden Tremblay put the game to rest 2:05 later. Jackson McCutcheon would add a late Wenatchee consolation goal with eight seconds remaining.听

Delta Hockey Academy (5) vs Pacific Coast Hockey Academy (0) U15 Prep

Delta came firing out of the gate as Peter Banicevic (2G, 1A) scored 1:09 in and Tripp Fischer (1G, 1A) added his 13th of the season 1:45 later. Banicevic would add his second of the game late in the period before a scoreless second period. Charlie Leonard and Casey Pearson added third period goals and Jack Utsunomiya (19/19) finished with 19 saves to record his second shutout of the season. Rio Manhas (44/49) made 44 saves in the loss.听

North Shore Warriors (1) vs Okanagan Hockey Academy (2) U17

Alex Youngson (11/12) and Kellen Ceraldi (29/31) kept clean sheets in the first period as the game remained tied 0-0 going into the second. Rylan Bengert scored the game鈥檚 first goal on the power play 3:46 in to give OHA their first lead. James Koch tied the game 10:06 later to tie the game heading into the final frame. Jaxson Bartsch would score the OHA game winner with 3:15 remaining as OHA won the game, and weekend series matchup, 2-1 over North Shore.听

Northern Alberta Xtreme (7) vs Indigenous Sports Academy (2) U17 Prep

Owen Sinclair scored an unassisted marker 4:31 in to give ISA a 1-0 lead. Jackson Tetreault (2G, 1A) would tie the game 10 minutes later on the power play. Emmett Jones hit the double digit goal mark five minutes into the second to give NAX a 2-1 lead. Carsen Chipesia tied the game less than five minutes later but Kyle Denis (1G, 1A) and Kaysun Brunham scored 1:18 apart to put NAX ahead by two. Robin Stockl (1G, 1A) and Tetreault would score shorthanded markers to start the third and Brody Dawson (1G, 1A) added his eighth of the season as NAX grabbed a 7-2 win. Matthew Coyle (34/36) and Holden Fauchon (37/44) were in net for their respective teams.听

RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna (0) vs Delta Hockey Academy (5) U18 Prep

Greyson Moroz (45/45) recorded a 45 save shutout and defenseman Ryder Dunn (3A) recorded three assists to lead Delta to a 5-0 win over RHA Kelowna. Javien Mann (1G, 1A) scored in the first, Milan Mrsic (1G, 1A) and Jake Bartlett in the second, and Jacon Schwartz and Jack Tudhope scored power play goals in the third to provide the offence for Delta. Louis Gu (29/34) faced 34 shots in the loss.听

Yale Hockey Academy (6/OT) vs St. George’s School (5) U18 Prep

Yale started the game with back-to-back goals from Evan Cook (1G, 1A) and Eli Barrett (1G, 2A) before London Taylor (2G, 1A) got St. George鈥檚 on the board 2:25 later. Shaun Hildebrant and Harshaan Kaila (1G, 1A) traded second period goals as it remained a one goal lead for Yale heading into the third. Thomas Rode (1G, 1A) tied the game 58 seconds into the third but Alexandre Jacques (1G, 3A) put Yale back ahead 57 seconds later. Taylor would tie the game midway through the third with his 13th goal of the season. Ryker Swanson thought he had the game winning goal late in the third for Yale but William Ren countered 1:07 later for St. George鈥檚 to force overtime. In OT, defenseman Kyounghun Oh (1G, 2A) scored 3:07 in to give Yale the 6-5 win. Parker Kulmatycki (40/45) and Austin Ball (45/51) were in net for their teams.听

Yale Hockey Academy (4) vs North Shore Warriors (3) U15

Yale put up 17 shots in the first with 2 of those beating Benjamin Boudreau (37/41) as Ryker Stevens and Hunter Stewart found the back of the net. Cohen Waite and Sebastien Sibley traded goals in the first half of the second before Easton Brooks scored his first of the season to make it a one goal game heading into the third. Max Ritchey (1G, 1A) doubled the lead midway through the third with his 17th goal of the season for Yale. Kox Leeson would give North Shore late life as he scored his fifth of the year with 46 seconds left but Yale would hold on to get back into the win column after losing back-to-back games for the first time this season. Logan Hwang (27/30) made 27 saves for the win.听

South Alberta Hockey Academy (4/OT) vs OHA Edmonton (3) Female U18 Prep

OHA Edmonton started off strong as Ryann Jugnauth and Sophia Contant scored in the first 10 minutes of the game. SAHA would reply with two power play goals in 1:39 as Kamryn Reiber and Jaylee Skog each found the back of the net. Hannah Palumbo (27/30) and Ava Antle (30/34) each stopped all the shots they faced in the second as the game remained tied 2-2 heading into the third. Peyton Carter (1G, 2A) would give OHA Edmonton a lead 1:23 into the third but Emily Gerdevich quickly responded for SAHA to eventually send the game to OT. In OT Riley Gramlich (1G, 1A) gave SAHA a 4-3 win in a game in which they never led.听

North Shore Warriors (4) vs Pacific Coast Hockey Academy (5/OT) U17 Prep

North Shore scored the lone first period goal with Chase Vossenaar (1G, 1A) finding the back of the net on the power play for his 19th of the season. Holden Duggan tied the game briefly before Lucas Lekakis scored another North Shore goal to restore the lead. Haydyn Brooks (1G, 1A) would reply for Pacific Coast with a power play goal just 26 seconds later and Maddoch Bond put PCHA ahead with a shorthanded goal 2:47 later. Less than two minutes after that Tristan Follick added his sixth of the season as PCHA led 4-2 heading into the third. North Shore would battle back and tie the game, getting third period goals from Connor Liu and Robert Orr (1G, 1A). The game would need overtime where Pacific Coast avoided the collapse as Brayden Howe (1G, 1A) scored 37 seconds in to give his team the 5-4 victory.听

St. George’s School (4) vs Yale Hockey Academy (3) U15 Prep

St. George鈥檚 led 2-0 after 20 as Noah Fowler (2G) and Zach Lam (1G, 1A) each found the back of the net. Dominic Ponte and Tanner Massey (1G, 2A) would flip the script in the second to tie the game heading into the third. Louis Oscar Holowaychuk (1G, 1A) restored the lead early in the third with his 24th goal of the season. Teagan Dernisky tied the game late and it looked like he would send things to overtime until Fowler beat Gavin Craig (46/50) with seven seconds remaining. Kole Anderosov (34/37) made 34 saves to record the win.听

South Alberta Hockey Academy (2) vs Calgary International Hockey Academy (5) U17 Prep

Chale Morgan (2G) opened the scoring 1:17 in and Chad Clark extended the CIHA lead less than five minutes later. Kutcher Aquila (2G) would get SAHA on the board 2:09 later as he found the back of the net for the 11th time this season. Morgan would double the lead with a shorthanded marker late in the second, though Aquila quickly responded for SAHA 1:09 later. Logan Penston added to the CIHA lead with 4:04 remaining and Aedan McCarry ended any SAHA comeback hopes with a shorthanded, empty net tally. Braxton Gibson (18/20) was in net for the win.听

Calgary International Hockey Academy (6) vs OHA Edmonton (2) U18 Prep

After a scoreless first period Townes Kozicky (1G, 1A) gave CIHA a 1-0 lead 2:22 into the second. Hunter Yee tied the game midway through the second with a power play goal but CIHA led 2-1 after 40 thanks to a Lincoln Martin goal. CIHA would take over in the third defensemen Easton LaPlante (1G, 1A) and Aden Bouchard (1G, 1A) scored in the first 2:25 of the period. Kasen Harrold (1G, 1A) and Calder Hutt scored 1:16 apart later in the period to give their team a commanding 6-1 lead. Ben Shawn would score another OHA Edmonton power play goal in the final minute. Sartaj Dhami (32/34) made 32 saves for his fifth win of the year.听

Pilot Mound Hockey Academy (3) vs South Alberta Hockey Academy (8) U18 Prep

Riley Robert (1G, 1A) opened the scoring for Pilot Mound 1:28 in with his fifth goal of the season. Josiah Jackson (2G, 1A) tied the game with a power play goal less than three minutes later. Michael Tracy restored the lead midway through the frame but SAHA once again had a quick response, this time from Kingston Chisholm (2G). Luke Warrener gave SAHA their first lead of the game 7:24 into the second period. Briggs Olson tied the game five minutes later on the power play but it was all SAHA after that. Jackson and Brayden Ryan-Mackay scored late second period goals while Ty Hynes (1G, 1A) and Cole Fisher scored 58 seconds apart in the first two minutes of the third. Chisholm added another SAHA goal six minutes later as they turned a 3-3 tie into an 8-3 win with five unanswered. Mattias Radke (26/29) and Tait Sanchez (39/47) were in net for their respective teams.听

Prairie Hockey Academy (2) vs Notre Dame (1) U15

Jonas Park scored his first goal of the season 1:07 in as Notre Dame grabbed an early 1-0 lead. Noah Delaurier would tie the game late in the period and Boston Engel scored the eventual game winner 54 seconds later. Conner Aldag (47/48) and Santi Schyns-Munoz (26/28) would keep clean sheets in the second and third as the Prairie held on for a 2-1 win.
