Fairmont Hockey (10) vs King’s Edgehill School (1) East U18
Fairmont bulldozed their way to a dominant victory Saturday morning, highlighted by a six point performance from Newport Coast, CA’s Jayden Shirk (4G, 2A). Six other skaters recorded multi-point performances, including Brady Witkin (2G, 2A) throwing up a pair of goals and assists. Matthew Bennett (21/22) backed Fairmont to victory, coming one save shy of the shutout courtesy of King’s Edgehill defender Cole Cooper.
CIH Academy (2/OT) vs Mount Academy (1) East U17
Loucas Ward acquired his first of the season just 2:44 into play to give CIH Academy the go ahead lead. Later in the first, an individual effort sparked by Nathaniel St. Pierre Maltais removed Mount Academy’s deficit. The game would come to a stalemate for the remainder of regulation time. Mount Academy goaltender Ben Fleming (37/39) was able to sneak out a point for his team, making 23-saves in the final 43-minutes of play, but was eventually beaten in OT by Leonardo Stretti.Ìý
CIH Academy (2) vs Okanagan Hockey Ontario (5) East U18
With his first of the season, Leonard Ess got OHO the opening goal, enough to give them the lead through twenty. After a quiet start to the second, OHO would erupt for three unanswered goals in a span of 1:58, two off the stick of Philippe Walsh (2G) and the other from Addison St. Cyr. Logan Brown (1G, 1A) would add further insurance in the third before CIH Academy got two back in the final stages of the game. Drew Osinga (32/34)
Lower Canada College (7) vs Selwyn House School (4) East U17
After splitting the score through twenty, Selwyn House got off to a hot start in the second developing a two goal lead after George Halimourdas and Yulen Billy (2G, 1A) scored 51-seconds apart. Tristan Mancini-Kozel (1G, 1A) would get one back for LCC, but they were still down one entering the third. However, LCC would pop off for three goals in 35-seconds partway through the third to flip the script. Nicolas Dermer (1G, 1A) would later fire home his eighth of the season to extend LCC’s lead to 6-2. Billy would add another late for Selwyn House to try and spark a comeback, but division leading scorer Lukas Royko (1G, 1A) would seal the deal with an empty netter to capture the win for LCC.
OHA Edmonton (7) vs Pilot Mound Hockey Academy (6) U18 Prep
OHA Edmonton forward Calum Giese (4G, 1A) and Pilot Mound forward Briggs Olson (4G, 1A) duked it out with four goals and five points each in a heated 7-6 final. Giese recorded two goals in the first to give OHA Edmonton the outright lead through twenty and added one more in the second and third. Olson scored one a piece in the opening and middle frame, but came to life in the late stages of the third, scoring twice in just over a minute to try and spark the late comeback. Giese and OHA Edmonton would end up on top. Ben Shaw (1G, 4A) recorded five points as well with OHA Edmonton while William Picklyk (4A) picked up four helpers with the Buffaloes.
North Shore Warriors (3) vs Delta Hockey Academy (8) U17 Prep
A hat-trick performance from Maxum Pyatt (3G) propelled Delta to an 8-3 win over their rivals from the other side of town. Vancouver Giants prospect Dylan Hurren (3A) also supplied three assists in the victory while Blake Clarke (24/27) picked up the win in goal. Tobin Schaefer (2G, 1A) chipped in on all three of North Shore’s goals.
Northern Alberta Xtreme (12) vs Rink Hockey Academy Winnipeg (0) U15
A Jett Evans (4G, 2A) masterclass backed a dominant 12-0 win for NAX on their eastern swing to Manitoba. Erik Miller (2G, 2A) would also pot a pair of goals as well as four points. Grayson Scriba (22/22) picked up his first shutout of the season in the win, steering aside all 22-shots from RHA Winnipeg. After falling to RHA Winnipeg on Friday, this bounce back win gives the Xtreme their 21st win of the campaign.Ìý
Bourget College (8) vs Fort Erie International Academy (1) East U18
A four goal first from Bourget College wrote Fort Erie’s fate in this Saturday matchup in Rockland, ON. Cape Breton Eagles prospect Mathys Morrissette (2G) nabbed two of those goals in the first en route to the comfortable 8-1 victory. Keifer Pion-Robin (2G) went on to net two goals in the third, including a shorthanded marker. Maxime Lavoie (24/25) came one save shy of the shutout in the win, only allowing Riley Cave to score for FEIA. Cave now has tallies in three straight contests.
Kuper Academy (1) vs Bishop’s College School (4) East U17
Following a dormant first period, Bishop’s would come on to the scene with fire power in the second, scoring back-to-back goals within the first minute of the frame. Kareem Baig-Mirza and Michael Paliotti would connect for a pretty goal later in the frame for Kuper Academy. However, just 23-seconds would pass before Bishop’s responded as Bastien Michaud (2G, 1A) wired home his third of the season. Michaud would score the lone goal of the third on an empty net to seal Bishop’s win. Tyler Fuicelli (25/26) would make 25-saves in the win, improving his personal record to 4-1-0 as a starter.
Notre Dame (1) vs Edge School (7) U15 Prep
Dylan Sherban (2G) opened the scoring for Edge School part way through the first while Grayson Trevelyan net his eighth of the season to close out the frame. Edge would continue their offensive trend in the second, scoring another pair, including a shorthanded tally from Luke Huska (1G, 1A). Nicholas Edgar (1G, 1A) would add another shorthanded goal in the third, adding to the defender’s rapidly growing goal total. History would repeat itself as Notre Dame would spoil Edge’s shutout in the final minute, this time courtesy of Duke Lesnar. Kaidyn Thomas (27/28) still managed to rack up 27-saves in the win while Ben Meyer (38/45) put in a formidable 38-save performance in the loss.
Edge School (6) vs OHA Edmonton (2) U15
In the opening forty minutes, Edge School etched six unanswered goals into the scoresheet. Charlie Usher (2G) led the way from the blueline with a two goal effort while Luke Tschetter (1G, 2A) snagged three points. Boston Smashnuk and Eli Swift scored two goals for OHA Edmonton in the third, but the deficit was far too large to surmount. Hudson Andrews (20/22) was in goal for the win.
BWC Academy (1) vs Yale Hockey Academy (2) U15 Prep
After a scoreless first, Parker McMillan would score on the powerplay to give Yale the initial lead. As time progressed in the second, Justin Moon would score a powerplay goal for BWC Academy, making things tied heading into the second intermission. In a tight third, Tanner Massey would score just over two minutes into play. This goal would stand as the game winner as Gavin Craig (19/20) turned aside all eight BWC Academy shots in the frame.
OHA Edmonton (4) vs Pilot Mound Hockey Academy (1) U17 Prep
Two goals separated by 34-seconds in the first gave OHA Edmonton a formidable lead to build on as the game progressed. Cash Brebant would add a shorthanded goal in the latter half of the second to further extend their lead. Under three minutes later, Michael Kaplan added OHA Edmonton’s fourth goal. The lone goal in the third would come off the stick of PMHA’s Luke Adam shorthanded, but that was all the Buffaloes were able to muster past Dysen Loewen (33/34) who went on to stop 33-shots through sixty minutes of play.
Pacific Coast Hockey Academy (3) vs Delta Hockey Academy (2) U17
A dream start for PCHA saw them netting three goals in the opening half of the first period. Hagan Purinton, Rhys Wilcox and Lukas Needham would be given credit for the offensive outburst. Peyton May would get one for Delta late in the frame to stop the bleeding. A scoreless second would trail the first as Delta’s hopes at a comeback started to dwindle. Lincoln Arkinstall (1G, 1A) would add another to Delta’s tally early in the second, but that’s all that got past Logan MacLean (26/28) from there on out. The Campbell River, BC native would stop 10-shots in the third for PCHA, leading them to the monumental victory over Delta.
BWC Academy (3) vs St. George’s School (2) U17 Prep
After Aaron Castro got St. George’s the opening goal, Ayden Saran (1G, 1A) would net his third of the season to get BWC Academy back in the contest. However, Byron Chin (1G, 1A) would restore the Saints’ lead soon after. The scoring would take a hiatus for a heavy portion of the rest of the contest. It wasn’t until BWC Academy’s Declan Iacoviello (1G, 1A) scored with under four minutes left on the clock that the score would see its first shift. BWC Academy would keep applying the pressure late and eventually were rewarded as Nic Collins (1G, 2A) scored the game winner with 11-seconds left on the clock, putting BWC Academy in the win column over their inner-city rivals.Ìý
Ulysse Academie (4) vs Bishop’s College School (1) East U18
Gavin Rusentrom opened the scoring in Saturday’s Featured Game, placing a backhand perfectly over the glove hand of Virgil Sausset (27/28). After Bishop’s opener, Ulysse Academie turned up the pressure, going on to score two straight, including a highlight reel assist by Thomy Di Lauro (2A) on Guillaume Legault’s (2G) goal. Giuliano Leuzzi would score the go ahead goal a mere 20-seconds later. Legault would later add to Ulysse’s lead with the lone goal of the second while Sausset turned aside all 16-shots. Sausset would remain perfect in the third while Eloi Vaugeois capped off the insurance marker. Sausset would make 27-saves in the win.
Pilot Mound Hockey Academy (4) vs RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg (10) U15 Prep
Brady Filmon (1G, 4A), Athens Shingoose (2G, 2A) and Grayson Speirs (2G, 2A) all racked up at least four points in RHA Winnipeg’s double digit performance over Pilot Mound. Five other skaters would produce multi-point efforts while Cole Landreville (3A) provided helpers on three of Pilot Mound’s four goals. Noah Hawkins (26/30) was between the pipes for RHA Winnipeg during the win.
Mount Academy (1) vs Fort Erie International Academy (5) East U17
Jayden Goolab opened the scoring with a shorthanded goal for FEIA, but were matched by Mount Academy in the latter half of the period thanks to Nathaniel St. Pierre Maltais’s second goal of the calendar day. Fort Erie would keep adding on the pressure in the second and would come out with a three goal lead through forty. Jean-Theo Mundele would add the extra insurance marker in the third as Fort Erie went on to take this match with a score of 5-1.
Calgary International Hockey Academy (7) vs Edge School (2) U17 Prep
William Matte (3G, 1A) scored 2:05 in and Declan Cardiff added a power play marker four minutes later as CIHA grabbed an early 2-0 lead. Ashton McCann (1G, 1A) replied for Edge with his 32nd goal of the season midway through the period. Aedan McCarry (2G, 1A) restored the two goal lead late in the period and Matte scored the lone second period marker as CIHA held a 4-1 advantage heading into the third. McCarry and Jack Bissoon traded power play goals to start the third period as it remained a three goal game. The lead would grow even further as Zachery Hall added his eighth and Matte completed the hat-trick with 3:18 remaining to close out the 7-2 win. Ethan Mann (25/27) made 25 saves for the win.Ìý
Northern Alberta Xtreme (4) vs OHA Edmonton (7) U17
OHA Edmonton led 1-0 after the first as Ayden Stuckless scored unassisted 15:18 into the game. Landon Gardiner tied the game 1:21 into the second before Osten Strickland (1G, 1A) and Barrett Fogolin traded goals to keep the game level. OHA Edmonton pulled ahead late in the period as Rhett Hudson (2G, 1A) and Noah Stone scored their 15th and 17th goals of the season. OHA Edmonton continued to apply pressure to start the third as Brayden Tucker, Josh Frazer (1G, 2A) and Hudson all found the back of the net in the opening 6:03. Parker Aitken and Braeden Malenchak (1G, 1A) hit double digit goals on the season late in the game to make it a more respectable scoreline, but ultimately OHA Edmonton won 7-4.Ìý
RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna (3) vs Pacific Coast Hockey Academy (8) U18 Prep
Maddox Gandha (2G) opened the scoring for RHA Kelowna 1:21 in but Pacific Coast led 2-1 after 20 as Ben Wetterberg (2G, 1A) and Parson Shahi scored 1:36 apart. The lead grew in the second as Roman Lavery and Brayden Barker scored 1:01 apart midway through the frame. Drew Stinka and Elliott Hill (1G, 1A) scored 33 seconds apart early in the third as PCHA continued to score in bunches. Gandha halted the Pacific Coast run but Trace Anderson (1G, 1A) countered for PCHA just 15 seconds later. Wetterberg and Brady Walker (1G, 1A) would trade goals less than two minutes apart to round out the scoring in an 8-3 win for Pacific Coast. Both Liam Russell (40/43) and Conner Nicolson (35/43) faced 43 shots in net.Ìý
Calgary International Hockey Academy (5) vs Notre Dame (0) U15
Taylor Green (25/25) made 25 saves for his first shutout of the season as CIHA defeated Notre Dame 5-0. Special teams played a key role in the victory for CIHA as Jase Morey 91G, 1A) scored the game winner while shorthanded late in the first period. Emerson Hiebert added a power play marker in the second and Liam Nycholat (1G, 2A) scored his 32nd goal of the season on the power play 2:52 into the third. Eric Sexton (1G, 1A) and Owen Light added even strength goals midway through the final frame to round out the scoring. Westyn Hlady (55/60) faced 60 shots in net for Notre Dame.Ìý
St. George’s School (6) vs RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna (3) U15
Alan Qiu scored 40 seconds in and Nick Hill (1G, 1A) added his 18th just 25 seconds later as St. George’s came racing out the gate. Harrison Sharman (2G) would stop the bleeding and get RHA Kelowna on the board 5:24 into the game with a power play marker. Theo Wesik (1G, 1A) countered midway through the second with a power play goal of his own and Minso Lee increased the advantage to 4-1 late in the frame. Luca Rogers (1G, 3A) made it 5-1 5:06 into the third, though Sharman replied with his second of the game. The final two goals would come with RHA Kelowna on the penalty kill as Bingo Zhao (1G, 1A) scored on the power play and Oliver Peck countered with a late shorthanded marker. Hudson Waddell (42/45) made 42 saves in net to earn the win for St. George’s.Ìý
RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna (8) vs North Shore Warriors (0) U15 Prep
RHA Kelowna outshot North Shore 61-27 en route to an 8-0 win Saturday. Gunner Podollan (27/27) stopped all 27 shots he faced as he recorded his first shutout of the season. Bronson Lamontagne (2G) scored twice while Cole Dobson, Deacon Gayfer (1G, 1A), Kolby Lutz, Alexander Ruiz (1G, 1A), Alexander Sharman (1G, 1A), and Kyler Stocks (1G, 2A) all scored once. Ashton Sims (53/61) made 53 saves in the loss.Ìý
Mount Academy (5/OT) vs CIH Academy (4) East U18
Colin Lefebvre scored a late first period power play goal as CIH Academy led 1-0 after 20. Bryson Robinson tied the game 2:18 into the second with a power play marker of his own, his 11th goal of the season. Noah Picken (2G) restored the CIH Academy lead five minutes later before doubling the advantage with a shorthanded tally. Taiga Soneji extended the lead 58 seconds into the third as CIH Academy started to pull away. However, Mount wouldn’t go away quietly as James Martin (2G, 1A) and Justin Hughes (1G, 1A) scored 1:34 apart to bring their team within one. Looking for the tying goal, Nolan MacDonald evened the score with 43 seconds left to force overtime. In OT, Martin scored his second goal of the game 1:35 in as Mount completed the comeback for the 5-4 victory. Cedrick Provencher (28/32) and Noah Vidal (32/37) were in net for their respective teams.Ìý
Ontario Hockey Academy (3) vs Okanagan Hockey Ontario (5)Ìý East U17
After a scoreless first period Tanner Swirla (2G) and Tucker O’Rourke (2G) scored in the back half of the second to put OHO up 2-0 heading into the third. After 40 minutes with just 2 goals, the two teams combined for 5 in the third period. Teo Lamarche 91G, 2A) and Xavier Blouin (1G, 1A) scored 25 seconds apart inside the opening minute of the final frame to tie the game. Swirl and Yota Matsumura 91G, 1A) traded power play goals as it remained a tie game with 14 minutes left. O’Rourke put OHO ahead with a power play goal of his own just 2:32 later. Alexander Grezlovski would clinch the OHO win with an empty netter with 18 seconds left. Logan Cucan (28/31) and Griffin Fitzpatrick (26/30) were in net for their respective teams.Ìý
North Shore Warriors (1) vs St. George’s School (3) U18 Prep
Mark Lee hit double digit goals on the season as he opened the scoring 1:42 in for North Shore. Minsuk Hou (1G, 1A) tied the game 6:48 into the second with the lone goal of the period. Sam Auld scored the game winner for St. George’s 3:15 into the third period, finding the back of the net for the 15th time this season. London Taylor secured the win with an empty net goal with 39 seconds remaining on the clock. Austin Ball (19/20) made 19 saves to record the win. Georgi Milanov (44/46) made 44 saves in net for North Shore in the loss.Ìý
Shawnigan Lake School (4) vs Yale Hockey Academy (1) U18 Prep
After a scoreless first period Shaun Hildebrandt scored on the power play 3:17 into the second to give Yale the game’s first goal. Ryan Turner (1G, 1A) tied the game 3:05 later with a power play goal of his own, starting a run of four unanswered Shawnigan goals. Cole Mekelburg put Shawnigan ahead with 6:05 left in the second and Nigel Alberts (2G) doubled the lead with one second remaining in the period on a penalty shot goal. Alberts would score again late in the third to put the game out of reach as Shawnigan took home a 4-1 road win. Liam Ryan (40/41) made an impressive 40 saves for the win. Parker Kulmatycki (28/32) faced 32 shots in the loss.Ìý
Delta Hockey Academy White (9) vs Pacific Coast Hockey Academy (1) U15
Hayden Zygarliski (3G, 1A) recorded a hat-trick while Carson Brown (2G, 2A) and Zhehan Zhao (2G, 1A) each scored twice as Delta White beat Pacific Coast 9-1. Ryder Pavlic (1G, 2A) and Marco Robin added the other goals for Delta White as they fired 49 shots at Shay Van Slyke (40/49). Brayden Lindsay scored the lone Pacific Coast goal, beating Cohen Wood (29/30) midway through the first period.Ìý
BWC Academy (2) vs STAR Hockey Academy (5) U15
BWC Academy scored both of their goals in the first as Nathan DaSilva and Jack Davison scored late in the period. Daniel Trifunovic and Seve Paladino (2G) scored second period goals for STAR as they flipped the script and tied the game. It was more of the same from STAR in the third as Mason Olson (1G, 2A), Paladino and Camden Freeman (1G, 1A) all found the back of the net as STAR erased a 2-0 deficit to earn a 5-2 win. Henry Price (25/27) was credited with the win, making 25 saves.Ìý
Okanagan Hockey Academy (1) vs Shawnigan Lake School (5) U15 Prep
OHA fired 13 shots at Donagh Esler-Twiss (32/33) inÌý the first with Gage Mark beating him with 2:37 left in the period. Shawnigan would come to life in the second as Baden Glithero (1G, 2A) and Darwin Ketch (1G, 1A) scored power play goals while Carter Lonsdale scored an even strength maker, his first of the season. Shawnigan continued to apply pressure in the third, putting 26 shots on net with Hayden Slade beating Maddox Slater (45/49) late in the period. Chase Murgatroyd added an empty netter 2:07 later as Shawnigan grabbed a 5-1 win on home ice Saturday.Ìý
Ontario Hockey Academy (6) vs King Heights Academy (4) East U18
The OHA power play struck twice in the first as Matthew Geibig (1G, 2A) and Danny Kananga each found the back of the net. Emin Anbarchian scored 1:13 after Geibig opened the scoring, briefly tying the game. Zahkar Puzriakov’s 15th of the year brought the two teams level 3:45 into the second. Nathanael Coon-Come (1G, 1A) restored the OHA lead 1:19 later and Jeremy St. Louis (1G, 2A) and Mathis-Cael Aurelius scored 27 seconds apart less than two minutes later as OHA grabbed a 5-2 lead. Before the second would end Vytas Lenkutis and Michael Lacroce scored 22 seconds apart for KHA to bring them within one heading into the final period. But that was as close as they’d get as Oliver Lacko scored the lone third period goal to double the lead and give OHA the 6-4 victory. Rafael Tremblay (21/25) made 21 saves in net for the win.Ìý
RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna (2) vs Okanagan Hockey Academy (5) U17 Prep
In a battle of the first and second ranked teams it was first place OHA that came out on top, 5-2. Trey Tourigny scored 57 seconds in and Jacob Leamy and Marcus Domhof (2G, 1A) added goals inside the opening 10 as OHA led 3-0. Nate MacPhee (2G) and Maxx Parfitt (1G, 1A) traded power play goals in the second as it remained a three goal difference heading into the final period. MacPhee scored 1:58 into the third as RHA Kelowna looked to make a comeback, outshooting OHA 13-6 in the third. But Domhof added an empty netter with 21 seconds left and Charlie Peppinck (41/43) made 41 saves as OHA held on for the 5-2 win. Kai Ebert (20/24) faced 24 shots in the loss.Ìý
Northern Alberta Xtreme (3) vs South Alberta Hockey Academy (5) U17 Prep
Ryker Klassen (2G) opened the scoring for SAHA but Rylan Poitras (1G, 1A) replied for NAX 1:25 later. Karter Kurpjuweit restored the SAHA lead 3:18 after that, giving his team the lead heading into the second. NAX would run into penalty trouble to start the second, leading to Kade Jensen (1G, 1A) and Klassen capitalising on the power play for SAHA. Jackson Tetreault (2G) halted the run less than three minutes later making it a two goal game going into the third. Matthew Cameron-Skidmore hit double digit goals to start the final frame and increase the SAHA lead. Tetreault would get his second of the game, this time on the power play, to bring NAX back within two. But Hunter Zawislak (29/32) shut the door the rest of the way as SAHA earned a 5-3 win in a game in which they were outshot 32-25.Ìý
St. George’s School (5) vs Delta Hockey Academy (0) U15 Prep
Kole Anderosov (27/27) made 27 saves for his first shutout of the season, backstopping St. George’s to a 5-0 win. Kyle Bowering scored the lone first period goal before St. George’s exploded for four goals in the second with defenseman Holden Wouters (2G) scoring once and Zach Lam and Noah Fowler scoring once.Ìý
Coeur d’Alene Hockey Academy (2) vs BWC Academy (15) U18 Prep
Charlie Robinson (1G, 5A) led all skaters with six points while Jonathan Bitonti (3G, 2A) and Lukas Lima (3G, 1A) each recorded hat-tricks as BWC Academy beat CDA 15-2. Owen Bambrick and Caden Stoltz scored for CDA in the loss.Ìý
Okanagan Hockey Academy (3/SO) vs North Shore Warriors (2) U17
It took Jaxson Bartsch (1G, 1A) just 13 seconds into the game to score his 18th of the season and give OHA a 1-0 lead. Noah Russo tied the game 7:00 into the second with the lone goal of the period. Both teams would get late power plays but it was the penalty kill that came up clutch in both instances. Cooper Vogt (1G, 1A) put OHA ahead with a shorthanded marker with 5:30 remaining but Henry Lockhart tied the game with a shorthanded goal of his own with 1:37 left to play, sending the game to overtime. The deadlock remained after five minutes of overtime, leading to Grady Monsen scoring in the fourth round of the shootout to give OHA the 3-2 win. Tyson Kuiack (21/23) was in net for OHA in the win while Erick Blair (51/53) was charged with the loss.
