GAME DAY RECAP: January 8-9, 2025

Edge School (2) vs Calgary International Hockey Academy (5) U18 Prep

Antonio Cazac would score the first CSSHL goal of 2025 as he gave Edge a 1-0 lead two minutes in. Gabriel Iervella (2G) tied the game midway through the second, creating an eventful six minute span. Reed Reschny restored the Edge lead 1:59 later before Noah Milford (2G) tied the game 2:29 after that and Iervella put CIHA ahead less than two minutes later. Lincoln Martin doubled the lead early in the third with a power play goal and Milford secured the victory late with an empty net goal as CIHA won the first CSSHL game of 2025. Sartaj Dhami (29/31) and Ryley Budd (24/28) were in net for their respective teams.听

Delta Hockey Academy Black (6) vs Okanagan Hockey Academy (3)听 U15

In the first game of the U15 showcase in Delta, BC Owen Magness gave OHA a lead 1:06 in. It was Delta Black who led 2-1 after 20 thanks to goals from Antonio Cipllaka (2G) and Silas Colina (2G, 1A). Lynden Dunkley and Jett Wood (1G, 1A) countered in the second as OHA jumped ahead 3-2. Woojin Seo (1G, 1A) tied the game 2:55 into the third and Cipllaka put Delta Black ahead for good 58 seconds later. Colina added a power play insurance marker less than four minutes after that and Josh Racic scored a power play marker 3:03 later as Delta Black doubled up OHA 6-3. Brayden Allan (22/25) and Deakon Beaudry (26/32) were in net for their respective teams.听

Yale Hockey Academy (0)听 vs Edge School (3) U15

Yale outshot Edge 29-25 but Caden Stanley鈥檚 (29/29) second shutout of the season propelled first place Edge to a 3-0 win. The U15 divisions leading point getter Brody Antignani added to his lead with his 30th goal of the year 5:19 into the game. Luke Tschetter potted his 16th late in the frame to double the lead before a scoreless second period. Easton Armstrong beat Logan Hwang (22/25) 1:22 into the third for the final Edge goal.听

BWC Academy (3) vs OHA Edmonton (4/SO) U15

Marek Pashko scored the game鈥檚 first goal late in the first as OHA Edmonton led after 20. Wim Coderre scored on the power play 35 seconds into the second to double the advantage. Theo Falk countered for BWC Academy less than three minutes later. Peyten Shilton and Eric Prexler traded goals to close out the second. BWC Academy would tie the game and force overtime late in the third as Ethan Kartadinata (1G, 1A) scored his 11th of the season. After OT solved nothing, Jiseong Kim and Ian Kim each beat Tyson Oake (25/28) while Bronny Kasturi (23/26) stopped two of the three BWC Academy shooters to give OHA Edmonton the 4-3 win.听

North Shore Warriors (0) vs Calgary International Hockey Academy (6) U15

A 15 save outing gave Alexandre Montembeault (15/15) his first CSSHL shutout as CIHA defeated North Shore 6-0. Tomas Figura (1G, 1A) scored the game winner 4:24 into the hockey game, his eighth goal of the season. Owen Light (2G, 2A) would close out the first and start the second with goals before Carson Hohman, Jase Morey and Liam Nycholat (1G, 1A) scored in the third to round out the offence. Benjamin Boudreau (39/45) faced 45 shots in net for North Shore.听

Northern Alberta Xtreme (8) vs RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna (1) U15

NAX fired 66 shots at Griffin Prairie Chicken (58/66) beating him 8 times as they cruised to an 8-1 victory. Emmett Abel (2G, 2A) led the way with four points while Malakai Andrews (1G, 1A), Mohamed Garcia (1G, 1A), Easton Mattersdorfer (2A), and defenseman Ryder McDonald (1G, 1A) all had multi point games for NAX. Cooper deWal was the lone shooter to beat Grayson Scriba (19/20), doing so late in the second period on the power play.听

OHA Edmonton (7) vs RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg (3) Female U18 Prep

Peyton Carter started the scoring for OHA Edmonton听 just 53 seconds in. Attica Sobering tied the game 52 seconds later, but Joryn Hempel (3G, 2A) restored the OHA Edmonton lead 12 seconds after that as the first 1:57 of the game saw 3 goals. Rowyn Street (1G, 1A) would send the teams into the intermission tied 2-2. OHA Edmonton would take over in the second with Hempel scoring twice to complete the hat-trick while Ryann Chimera (1G, 2A) added her 10th of the year. Mackenzie Levesque and Riley Cooper (1G, 2A) scored early in the third to give OHA Edmonton a commanding 7-2 lead. Sydney Stibbard would add a late consolation goal, giving her double digital goals this season for RHA Winnipeg.听

Northern Alberta Xtreme (5/OT) vs Balmoral Hall School (4) Female U18 Prep

Balmoral outshot NAX 16-9 and Lucy Ring (1G, 1A) and Reika Iwami each scored their second of the year to give their team a 2-0 lead after 20. Sterling Lynch got NAX on the board 4:01 into the second with her first of the season. Kinsley Peacock and Sawyer Mackay scored 4:18 apart as NAX jumped ahead 3-2. Madeline McKay (2G) tied the game 1:29 later as the two teams were even heading into the third. McKay put Balmoral back on top and it looked like the lead would hold until Madison Brazeau (1G, 1A) forced overtime with just 29 seconds left. NAX would ride that momentum into the extra frame as Brynn Evans (1G, 1A) found the top half of the net with a backhander that beat Mimi Ferreira (27/32) glove side. Sophie Quaschnick (36/40) was in net for NAX in the win.听

Delta Hockey Academy White (6) vs Pacific Coast Hockey Academy (1) U15

Carson Brown, Miles Teiffel (1G, 2A) and Rylan Bassi all scored in a span of 1:23 midway through the first as Delta White stormed out to a 3-0 lead. Zhehan Zhao (1G, 2A) added to the advantage six minutes later before a scoreless second period. Jayden Ni scored his 32nd 2:17 into the first period as Delta White had total control. Hudson Elke ended the Aarun Parmar (18/19) shutout bid with 9:57 remaining. Colby Walker would cancel out the PCHA goal with his 22nd just 56 seconds later.听

Coeur d鈥橝lene Hockey Academy (7) vs St. George’s School (4) U15

Nick Hill (2G) opened the scoring for St. George鈥檚 1:17 in but CDA quickly flipped the script with four straight as Maxwell Stevens (2G)听 scored twice and Trevor Johnson and Bode Lala (1G, 1A) once each. Luca Rogers (2G) would halt the run late in the period with a power play marker, his 10th goal of the season. Hill would score another power play marker for St. George鈥檚 to start the second but Colton Stoltz (1G, 1A) replied for CDA 1:13 later, and Tate Smith (1G, 1A) added a CDA power play goal shortly after that. Rogers would score his second power play goal of the game 3:20 later but Brayden Lee (1G, 1A) countered for CDA to close out the period. Bo Toperosky (23/27) and Jonah Gamble (32/39) kept clean sheets in the third as the game ended 7-4 in favour of CDA.听

Prairie Hockey Academy (5) vs STAR Hockey Academy (3) U15

Each team scored twice in the first with Ivey Vermeulen (2G) tallying his 7th and 8th of the year for Prairie while Camden Freeman and Mason Olson (2G) countered for STAR. Olson and Addison Wanner traded goals in the second as it remained a tie game heading into the final period. Tristan Reimer (1G, 1A) would score the eventual game winner 7:03 into the third and Jakub Palmer (1G, 1A) added a late insurance marker, finding the back of the net on the power play with 1:51 remaining. Patrick Curtis (27/30) and Cameron Rusyniak (30/35) were in net for their respective teams.听

Pilot Mound Hockey Academy (0) vs Prairie Hockey Academy (6) U17 Prep

Drake Mooney (37/37) made 37 saves for his first career CSSHL shutout as Prairie beat Pilot Mound 6-0 Thursday. Jamie Kirwan (1G, 1A) and Seamus Dillon (2G, 1A) scored 53 seconds apart in the first as Prairie led 2-0 after 20. Ethan Unger (1G, 1A) and Hunter Toth (2G) added second period tallies and Toth and Dillon each scored their second of the game in the third to round out the scoring. Matthew Palmer (32/38) faced 38 shots in net for PMHA.听

Bishop鈥檚 College School (6) vs King鈥檚 Edgehill School (0) East U18听

After a scoreless first Zach Jockers, Tomas Sedlacik (2G) and Milan Turena scored second period goals to put Bishop鈥檚 ahead 3-0 going into the final period. They would double their lead in the final frame with goals from Sedlacik, Logan Charby and Milan Turena (2G, 1A) en route to a 6-0 win. Felix-Antoine Emond (15/15) made 15 saves in net for the shutout win.
