Mount Academy (4) vs Okanagan Hockey Ontario (2) East U18 Championships
Jansen Guitard鈥檚 three-point performance helped Mount Academy double up Okanagan Hockey Ontario 4-2 in the opening game of the CSSHL Eastern Championships. Nolan Chabot opened the scoring for OHO with a point shot on the power play to give his team the lead 5:38 into the contest. Mount鈥檚 Cameron Ellsworth evened the game up a few minutes later, putting home a one-timer off a pass from Nathaniel St.Pierre Maltais (2A). Before the buzzer sounded, Zachary Drachler was sent in all alone off an OHO defensive zone turnover and he roofed it to give Mount their first lead. Jansen Guitard (1G, 2A) doubled Mount鈥檚 advantage midway through the second, grabbing the loose puck off a faceoff and firing it by the glove of OHO鈥檚 netminder Drew Osinga (21/25). In the final minute of the frame, Guitard sent a no-look backhand pass to Bryson Robinson (1G, 1A) who buried it on the glove side to give Mount a 4-1 lead. OHO got one back early in the third when Logan Brown jammed in a rebound while on the man advantage. Mount limited OHO鈥檚 chances after that goal, only allowing two shots in the final frame. William Talbot (17/19) picked up the win in Mount鈥檚 net, kicking out 17 of the 19 shots he faced.听
Okanagan Hockey Ontario (5) vs CIH Academy (2) East U17 Championships
Okanagan Hockey Ontario鈥檚 first period offensive outburst lifted them to a 5-2 victory over CIH Academy. Nolan Moore (1G, 1A) got the scoring started for OHO when his shot from the blueline took a deflection off a CIH Academy defender and fooled the goaltender. Luca Chiarizia (2G) responded for CIH Academy with a beautiful goal. He picked up the puck at the blue line, got around the OHO defender, drove the net, and slid it by the pad of OHO netminder Logan Cucan (24/26). Thomas Garland (2G) restored OHO鈥檚 lead with a quick goal off a faceoff midway through the first. Brodie Pithie added an insurance marker a couple minutes later with a nice individual rush. In the final two minutes of the frame, Moore found Alexander Grezlovski wide open in front of the net and he buried it to give OHO a 4-1 lead heading into the room. OHO tacked on one more in the second period when Garland chipped in Ryan Simpson鈥檚 pass from behind the net. Chiariza got one back for CIH Academy early in third, taking advantage of an OHO turnover that sent him in on a partial breakaway. Cucan shut down CIH Academy the rest of the way, making seven saves in the final frame to preserve OHO鈥檚 win.听听
Selwyn House School (6) vs Kuper Academy (1) East U17 Championships
Julian Harroch鈥檚 hat trick helped Selwyn House School get a 6-1 win over Kuper Academy. Harroch (3G) opened the scoring early, picking up a loose puck and firing it home 14 seconds into the game. Yulen Billy put in a rebound just over seven minutes into the period to double Selwyn House鈥檚 lead. Matheo Lazanis (2G, 1A) got some good fortune to close out the period when his centering feed took a deflection and found its way into the net. In the second period, Gianluca Velenosi (2A) bumped a pass over to Harroch who netted his second of the game from a sharp angle. With six minutes left in the second, Michael Paliotti got Kuper on the board with a low one-timer. Selwyn House鈥檚 power play stepped up in third, getting a goal from Lazanis when he poked in a rebound that dropped into the crease. Harroch had quite the sequence to complete his hat trick late in the contest. Off a faceoff, he blocked a Kuper shot, used his speed to get past the last defender, and slid the puck under the pads of Kuper鈥檚 goaltender Donato Padula (36/42) to seal Selwyn House鈥檚 first win of the playoffs. Nicholas Capolicchio (30/31) had a strong game in Selwyn House鈥檚 net, turning aside 30 of the 31 shots he faced.听
Fort Erie International Academy (2) vs Ulysse Academie (3/SO) East U18 Championships
Ulysse Academie rallied from two goals down to beat Fort Erie International Academy 3-2 in a shootout. Fort Erie took the early lead with a goal from Gianluca Garippo who put home a feed from Isaak Samson on a three-on-one. Brett Krtanjek doubled Fort Erie’s lead ten minutes later, working around two defenders and beating the goaltender with a high wrist shot on the power play. Ulysse made a goalie change to start the second period and that seemed to spark them. Eloi Vaugeois (2G) cut Ulysse鈥檚 deficit to one with a power play marker, tipping in a Simon Fournier pass. With 5:29 left in regulation, Vaugeois corralled a centering feed from Zack Bernique (2A) and fired it in on the glove side to level the game. Fort Erie鈥檚 Ryan Schultz (22/24) and Ulysse鈥檚 Virgil Sausset (12/12) stood tall the rest of the way to send the game to a shootout. Ulysse and Fort Erie traded goals in the opening round of the skills competition. The goalies silenced the shooters until the fourth round when Fournier scored the go-ahead goal for Ulysse. Sausset sealed Ulysse鈥檚 victory with a pad save on Fort Erie鈥檚 final shooter.听
Lower Canada College (7) vs Bishop’s College School (4) East U17 Championships
Mario Lapenna and Lukas Royko each scored twice to propel Lower Canada College to a 7-4 win over Bishop鈥檚 College School. Nicolas Dermer opened the scoring for LCC, finding the puck in the low slot and putting it past the glove of the Bishop鈥檚 College netminder Dax Doiron (23/30). Bastien Michaud (2G) replied for Bishop鈥檚 College, walking down to the faceoff dot and wiring a shot past LCC goaltender Efstratios Couvas (29/33). The two teams traded goals in the final two minutes of the first period. Tristan Mancini-Kozel (2A) set up David Fellen (1G, 1A) on the back door to restore LCC鈥檚 lead but just over a minute later Jayden Dyke (1G, 2A) got around a defender and fed it to Grady Cohen who scored to tie the game for Bishop鈥檚 College. The division鈥檚 leading scorer went to work in the second period. LCC鈥檚 Lukas Royko (2G, 1A) set up shop in front of the net, scoring a goal on a deflection and putting home a rebound. Dyke had the only goal of the frame for Bishop鈥檚 College, sneaking a shot through on the glove side. In the third period, Mario Lapenna (2G, 1A) stretched out LCC鈥檚 lead to 5-3 with a goal through the five hole. Michaud struck again on the man advantage for Bishop鈥檚 College with a goal that was nearly identical to his first marker, making it a one-goal game with just over five minutes to play. Once again, Lapenna added an insurance marker for LCC, tucking a backhand shot under the glove of Bishop鈥檚 College netminder. William Lynam sealed LCC鈥檚 win with an empty-net goal in the final two minutes. Drummondville Voltigeurs prospect Matthew D鈥橴rso (4A) had primary assists on LCC鈥檚 last four goals of the contest.听
CIH Academy (5) vs King’s-Edgehill School (0) East U18 Championships
Noah Picken鈥檚 three-point game helped CIH Academy get a dominant 5-0 victory over King鈥檚 Edgehill School. Picken (2G, 1A) opened the scoring for CIH Academy 3:19 into the game to give them the first lead of the game. CIH Academy doubled their advantage with 18 seconds left in the frame on a goal from Alex Thompson (1G, 1A). In the second period, Yoshin Takahara stretched CIH Academy鈥檚 lead to 3-0 with his first goal of the Eastern Championships. Andrew Mark tacked on another marker for CIH Academy with Tucker Clare (2A) picking up his second assist of the game. Picken sealed CIH Academy鈥檚 big win with his second goal of the contest. CIH Academy held a big advantage on the shot clock, outshooting King鈥檚-Edgehill 43-15. Noah Martin (15/15) recorded the shutout for CIH Academy, stopping all 15 shots he faced. William Bridgeo (38/43) made 38 saves for King鈥檚-Edgehill.听
King Heights Academy (0) vs Bishop’s College School (5) East U18 Championships
Bishop鈥檚 College scored three times in the first period and never looked back in their 5-0 win over King Heights Academy. Dominic Schnarr (1G, 1A) opened Bishop鈥檚 College campaign with a goal 1:17 into the game. Alexei Gachelin scored on Bishop鈥檚 College first power play opportunity to make it a 2-0 game. Bishop鈥檚 College extended their lead to three with an Adam Straka (1G, 1A) marker with just over two minutes to go in the frame. Midway through the second, Tristan Gagnon netted the lone goal of the period for Bishop鈥檚 College. Simon Picard closed out Bishop鈥檚 College victory, scoring his first goal of the Eastern Championships. Timofey Williams (20/20) turned aside 20 shots in Bishop鈥檚 College shutout win. Jackson Taraborrelli (28/33) made 28 saves for King Heights.听
Fort Erie International Academy (1) vs Stanstead College (4) East U17 Championships
Parker Banks scored a pair of goals, including the game-winner to power Stanstead College to a 4-1 victory over Fort Erie International Academy. The first two periods were scoreless thanks to some stellar goaltending from Fort Erie鈥檚 Demitry Gikas (39/43) and Stanstead鈥檚 Jonas Murrer (19/20). Stanstead had the majority of the chances, outshooting Fort Erie 26-12 in that span. Stanstead鈥檚 Liam Armit had the best opportunity when he got a penalty shot midway through the second but Gikas denied him. Early in the third period, Banks (2G) broke the deadlock. He worked his way past a pair of Fort Erie defenders and finally beat Gikas to give Stanstead the lead. Fort Erie responded with 6:33 left when Joel Thompson fed it over to Thomas Harvey who slipped it through the five hole to tie the game up. Banks restored Stanstead鈥檚 lead with a shot off the faceoff that surprised the Fort Erie netminder. Cory Logan netted an insurance marker for Stanstead just over a minute later. He gathered a pass from Ryder Busto (2A), worked his way into the slot, and slid the puck through the five hole of Gikas. Stanstead capped off the win with some beautiful puck movement on the power play leading to a goal from Alexis Lavoie in the final minute.听
Ontario Hockey Academy (1) vs Bourget College (3) East U18 Championships
Maxime Lavoie (32/33) and Rafael Tremblay (33/36) kept clean sheets in a first period in which OHA outshot Bourget 11-6. Both teams would score power play goals in the second as Eliott Guevin found the back of the net for Bourget and Nathanael Coon-Come countered for OHA. Bourget broke the deadlock late in the third as Mathys Morrissette (2G) beat Tremblay with 3:33 remaining. Morrissette scored again with 1:15 left to double the Bourget lead and secure the 3-1 win.听
Mount Academy (2) vs Ontario Hockey Academy (4) East U17 Championships
Leandre Masson started OHA鈥檚 2025 East Championships off with a bang, opening the scoring 3:02 into the game. Ashton Bradley tied the game just 3:07 into the second with his first goal of the Championships. Liam Marcil restored the OHA lead midway through the second, beating Ben Fleming (25/29). Teo Lamarche doubled the lead 2:56 into the third and Nichita Viscu extended the advantage just a few minutes later. Cameron Wilson gave Mount late life with a power play goal but the clock would run out on any comeback attempt as Griffin Fitzpatrick (23/25) finished with 23 saves for the OHA victory.听
