GAME DAY RECAP: October 13-14, 2024

BWC Academy (11) vs Rink Hockey Academy Winnipeg (4) U15

Steady back-and-forth action consumed the opening half of this matchup, with RHA Winnipeg taking control after Beck Van Kemenade (2G) netted his second to put his squad up 4-3. However, BWC Academy would ignite for an unprecedented eight-unanswered goals to reach double digits. Nathan DaSilva (2G, 2A) and Ryder Bui (2G, 2A) each nabbed a pair of goals and assists each while Ryker Carson (1G, 3A) grabbed three assists and a goal for the four-point morning.听

Okanagan Hockey Academy (8) vs RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg (4) U17

OHA鈥檚 offensive consistency led them to the promised land on Sunday, nabbing at least two goals in each frame. Brody Shilton (2G, 1A) and Jaxson Bartsch (2G, 1A) each scored two each while Gage Kiselbach (1G, 3A) picked up four-points. Tyson Kuiack (18/22) picked up the win in goal for OHA.

Coeur d鈥橝lene Hockey Academy (6/SO) vs Notre Dame Hounds (5) U17

Louie Bryant kicked things off with a shorthanded goal for CDA, paving the way for a three goal first period. Notre would claw back in the second, outscoring CDA 3-1 in the frame to enter the third only down by a single tally. In the final frame, Brandon Thompson and Cyril Herauf would give Notre Dame the temporary lead as CDA鈥檚 Michael Veneziano tied things up late in the third to force overtime and an eventual shootout. The shootout would reach a marathon length, featuring a total of 24 shooters through 12 rounds. In the end, Bode Lund would net the winner. Morgan Hyndman (46/51) made 46-saves in regulation and 11-saves in the shootout win.

Okanagan Hockey Academy Black (2) vs Delta Hockey Academy Black (3) Female U18 Prep

Taylor Simpson and Victoria Cormick would split the scoring in the opening frame. Hailey Waugh put Delta Black ahead with a powerplay marker in the early stages of the second but OHA Black鈥檚 Arlie Sangha responded quickly, knotting things back up at 2-2. Entering the third, OHA Black would press with 13 SOG but Delta Black would pull away with the difference maker off the stick of听 Emma Biros (1G, 1A). Biros鈥檚 goal would be enough to clinch the victory. Nicole Flesher (30/32) picked up the win between the pipes, racking up 30-saves in the process.听

Shawnigan Lake School (2) vs Coeur d鈥橝lene Hockey Academy (4) U18 Prep

A pair of powerplay goals was the key to Coeur D鈥橝lene鈥檚 victory on Sunday, completing the upset over Shawnigan Lake. Aleksandr Skuratov (1G, 1A) netted a late marker on the man advantage in the first to take the lead into intermission. Shawnigan would claw back in the second evening things out for the start of the third but a pair from Caden Stoltz (2G) and Kash Benson put things out of reach for Shawnigan. Bennett Byers (44/46) continued his hot start to the season, making 44-saves, improving his season SV% to 0.929%.

Pacific Coast Hockey Academy (0) vs Delta Hockey Academy Black (7) U15

A Taegeon Park (3G) hat-trick and a Luc Wilson-Kurenoff (14/14) shutout were key elements in a Delta Black victory on Sunday. Bentley Gillis (2G, 1A) also supplied three-points in the win. Shay Van Slyke (52/59) supplied a 52-save effort in the loss.

Okanagan Hockey Academy (3)听 vs Delta Hockey Academy Green (7) Female U18 Prep

A strong first period set the tone for Delta Green, pouring on 19-shots and picking up a pair, including a late powerplay goal from Katie Olfert (1G, 2A). Brooklyn Blomquist (2G) got one back for OHA in the second, but Delta Green鈥檚 offence would resume in the third, scoring another five times, combatting OHA鈥檚 two. Molly Cole (2G) hit the 10-goal mark on the season while Sadie Isfeld (2G, 2A) supplied four-points in the win. Maisie Cope (32/35) stopped a season high 32-shots in the win.

Delta Hockey Academy White (7) vs Notre Dame Hounds (3) U15

Notre Dame started things off hot with two goals in the opening three minutes off the sticks of Drew Patterson (1G, 1A) and Jax Baumuller. Colby Walker (3G, 1A) would snatch one back for Delta White in the tail end of the first. At the start of the second, Delta would erase Notre Dame鈥檚 lead after a powerplay marker from Reid Dutschek (1G, 2A). Ethan Sakal (1G, 1A) would respond immediately for Notre Dame but would be quickly silenced again after Walker picked up his second just 48-seconds later. From this point on, Delta White carried the momentum and went on to bury another four unanswered to close out the contest. Walker completed his hat-trick as part of a four-point showing while Carson Brown (1G, 4A) played set-up man and nabbed four assists along with the game鈥檚 final goal.听听

BWC Academy (2) vs Northern Alberta Xtreme (4) U17

It took just over 30-minutes of play before the puck would find the back of one of the nets. Chace Smith was the beneficiary on the opening goal, putting NAX ahead by one entering the final frame. BWC Academy would get on the scoresheet early, thanks to Jaiydan Bhandari. However, NAX would strike back with two of their own to extend their lead to two before the halfway point of the third. Nishann Grewal would get one back late for BWC Academy, but an EN goal from Braeden Malenchak (1G, 1A) sealed the match up with 11-seconds remaining. Lenox Alanen (31/33) picked up the win in goal for NAX while Liam Kellett (46/49) gave it all he had in the loss, racking up 46-saves through three.

Coeur d鈥橝lene Hockey Academy (1) vs RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna (6) U17 Prep

RHA Kelowna continues their hot-streak to start the 2024/25 season with another commanding win over CDA. Rhett Tubello (1G, 1A) netted his 10th of the season just under two-minutes into play giving RHA Kelowna the early advantage. This was swiftly doubled by Logan Lanti just 23-seconds later. Matthew Latscha would trim back CDA鈥檚 deficit late in the frame, but that was all the offence his team would generate on the scoresheet. RHA Kelowna would provide another four goals throughout the rest of the contest as Porter Rossi (2G, 1A) provided a pair while Cache Leonard (3A) picked up three helpers from the blueline.

Pilot Mound Hockey Academy (0) vs St. Mary’s Academy (4) Female U18 Prep

St. Mary鈥檚 found themselves in the lead after twenty, scoring twice thanks to the efforts of Peyton Mages (1G, 1A) and Brooke Froese (2G). Reese Kartusch would supply a powerplay marker late in the second to extend St. Mary鈥檚 lead to 3-0. Pilot Mound would outshoot St. Mary鈥檚 in the third, looking to spark some type of comeback, but the solid goaltending of Sasha Coutu (19/19) stifled any opportunity of that occurring. Coutu would go on to pick up her first career CSSHL shutout in the Sunday victory over PMHA.

Wenatchee Wild Hockey Academy (0) vs Pacific Coast Hockey Academy (12) U17

All gas, no breaks for PCHA in their Sunday affair with Wenatchee, cleaning up the scoresheet with an immense 12-goal effort. Six skaters reached the four-point barrier, including Lukas Needham (2G, 2A) who scored his two goals only 26-seconds apart in the late stages of the second. Logan MacLean (9/9) picked up the easy shutout, turning aside 9-shots.

St. George’s School (2) vs BWC Academy (1) U17 Prep

After a scoreless first Brayden McIlmoyle scored his first goal of the season with 1:24 left in the second to put St. George鈥檚 ahead. Zephyr Harms tied the game 4:00 into the third but Byron Chin scored the game winning goal for St. George鈥檚 just 22 seconds later. Carter Adams (31/32) finished with 31 saves to record the win. Josh Wu (11/13) faced 13 shots in the loss.听

Pacific Coast Hockey Academy (5) vs Delta Hockey Academy (1) U17 Prep

Jack MacMillan (2G) scored the lone first period goal while Kody Pham and Maddoch Bond (2G) scored 1:07 apart in the second as Pacific Coast led 3-0 going into the third. Dylan Hurren got Delta on the board 1:21 into the final frame but MacMillan and Bond each added their second of the game as PCHA took home a 5-1 win. Ander Reyes (52/53) made a whopping 52 saves for the win.听

OHA Edmonton (11) vs Notre Dame Hounds (0) U18 Prep

Ethan Edwards (15/15) stopped all 15 shots he faced and OHA Edmonton scored on 11 of the 53 shots they fired at Jack Hunter (42/53) to earn an 11-0 statement win over Notre Dame.听 Ben Shaw (4G, 1A) scored four goals and led all skaters with five points. Cale Chimera (1G, 3A) added four points while Calum Giese (1G, 2A), Josh McKague (1G, 2A) and Kaden Wilkins (1G, 2A) all had three point games.听

Indigenous Sports Academy (0) vs OHA Edmonton (12) U17 Prep

Cash Brebant (2G, 4A) and Jaggar John (2G, 4A) led all skaters with six points while Keenan Fox (2G, 2A) and Jihwan Kim (2G, 3A) added two goal games of their own as OHA Edmonton defeated ISA 12-0. Dysen Loewen (13/13) made 13 saves for the shutout while also recording an assist on a Miles Hartmann goal听

St. Mary鈥檚 High School (3) vs Prairie Hockey Academy (11) U17

Backed by a four goal performance from Felix MacMillan (4G), Prairie Hockey Academy defeated St. Mary鈥檚 11-3. Kashton Smith (3A) had three assists while Kase Gellner (1G, 2A) and Reid Schmalz (1G, 2A) had a goal and two assists each in a game that saw all but one Prairie skater record at least a single point. Aidan James (1G, 1A) led the way offensively for St. Mary鈥檚.听

Okanagan Hockey Academy (2) vs RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna (3) U18 Prep

Matthis Paull scored a power play goal late in the first and Brady Walker (2G) added a goal of his own just 14 seconds later as RHA Kelowna grabbed a 2-0 lead. Charlie Grant (2G) scored the lone second period tally to bring OHA within one heading into the final period. Walker scored 6:21 into the third to double the lead. Grant would score with 56 seconds remaining as OHA made a late push that ultimately came up short as Louis Gu (31/33) finished with 31 saves. Ben Hakes (38/41) made 38 saves in the loss.听

Yale Hockey Academy (11) vs Rink Hockey Academy Winnipeg (1) U15

A goal by Ryker Stevens just 32 seconds in set the tone for RHA Winnipeg in an 11-1 thumping over RHA Winnipeg. Gavin Beza (2G, 1A), Ben Bury (2G) and defenseman Lukas Stevens (2G, 2A) all scored twice while Connor Baines (3A) added three assists. Beck Van Kemenade ended the Lucca Tassone (25/26) shutout bid with 6:48 left to play.听

Delta Hockey Academy (2) vs OHA Edmonton (4) U17

A short handed goal by Rhett Hudson gave OHA Edmonton a first period lead. Santiago Skinner scored a power play goal early in the second and Brady Olson put Delta ahead midway through the period. Jayden Squissato (2G) quickly responded for OHA Edmonton 21 seconds later to level the score. He would score again, this time on the power play, 3:34 into the third to put OHA Edmonton back on top. Noah Stone (1G, 1A) added a goal with 11 seconds left to secure the victory. Daniel Marsden (40/42) and Blake Langdon (22/25) were in net for their respective teams.听

Yale Hockey Academy (4) vs North Shore Warriors (3) U18 Prep

Yale scored the first goal of the game as Ilija Majkic scored his second goal of the season 6:23 in. Matteo Paradiso (2G) gave North shore a 2-1 advantage going into the second as he scored 2 goals in a span of 2:06. The lone second period goal came from Carter Bylycia as Yale evened the scoring heading into the final 20. Tristan Hoko put North Shore ahead 2:26 into the third but Gus Schill and Dryden Deobald scored 1:11 apart midway through the period to put Yale ahead for good in a 4-3 win. Nathan Kam (37/40) and Georgi Milanov (44/48) each faced 40-plus shots in net.听

RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna (2) vs Edge School (1) U17

Griffin Jones (26/27) and Mikai Mast (24/26) kept the game scoreless through the first 20 minutes of play. Aiden Andrews would break the seal 8:58 into the second with his 12th goal of the season. Bennett Macek added an RHA Kelowna power play goal late in the second as his team led 2-0 going into the third. Jacob Kuntz broke the Jones shutout bid with 2:16 remaining but Edge was unable to find an equaliser.听

Fairmont Hockey (3/OT) vs North Shore Warriors (2) U17

Neither team found the back of the net through the first 39 minutes until Laurenz Liebhart scored his second goal of the season with 38 seconds left in the middle frame. Daniel Kim (2G) tied the game with a short handed marker 2:16 into the third and Dylan Rubin (1G, 1A) gave Fairmont the lead six minutes later. Rock Oosterveld tied the game with 1:43 remaining to send the game to overtime where Kim scored on the power play with 37 seconds left to give Fairmont the 3-2 win.听

STAR Hockey Academy (5/OT) vs Wenatchee Wild Hockey Academy (4) U17 Prep

Wenatchee led 1-0 after 20 thanks to a power play goal from Erik Hendricks (1G, 1A) midway through the frame. STAR jumped ahead in the second on goals from Ewen Willers (1G, 1A) and Aleks Ostrovskyy (1G, 1A) but another Wenatchee power play goal, this time from Aidan Yu, evened the score going into the third. Cooper Miller and Max Carpenter traded goals midway through the third before Zak Stabbler scored with two minutes left to give STAR what they thought would be the game winning goal. However, Declan Zangara scored with just six seconds left to force overtime. In OT Kyler Bush scored his fourth goal of the season to give STAR the 5-4 win.听

Edge School (7) vs OHA Edmonton (3) U15

While the Battle of Alberta took place between the Flames and Oilers at Rogers Place, an Edmonton and Calgary team were battling next door at the Downtown Community Rink in Edmonton. James Butterwick (1G, 1A) opened the scoring just 1:17 in and Charlie Usher (1G, 1A) added a short handed goal midway through the first for Edge. Ian Kim (2G) scored a power play goal on the same penalty to bring OHA Edmonton within one but Matteo Dufour (2G, 1A) countered for Edge 52 seconds later. Eli Swift added another OHA Edmonton power play goal early in the second period before Dufour and Kim traded goals to close out the first 40. The third belonged to Edge as Luke Bodtker scored on the power play, Lachlan Kisio scored his third of the season and Luke Tschetter added an empty net goal to round out the scoring and give Edge a convincing 7-3 win.听

Wenatchee Wild Hockey Academy (2) vs Delta Hockey Academy (6) U18 Prep

Liron Pellizzari and Cruz Waltze scored less than two minutes apart early in the first to give Delta a 2-0 lead. Tyson Schamehorn (2G) and Kyson Lindsay (2G) traded early second period markers before Schamehorn and Otto Spofforth scored 47 seconds apart to extend the lead. The third period saw each team score a power play tally as Jack Tudhope scored for Delta and Lindsay scored for Wenatchee. Greyson Moroz (23/25) and Anthony Ganoung (33/39) were in net for their respective teams.听

BWC Academy (6) vs North Shore Warriors (3) U18 Prep

Backed by five power play goals and five straight goals to open the game, BWC Academy defeated North Shore 6-3. Charlie Robinson, Max Malinousky (2G, 1A), and Trevor Oishi (1G, 3A) scored power play goals in the first while Malinousky added another power play marker 48 seconds into the second. Max Kelly (1G, 1A) scored the game’s first even strength goal with 4:46 left in the second as BWC Academy held a commanding 5-0 lead. North Shore would make a third period push backed by three power play goals of their own as Noah Friskie, Austin Griffin (1G, 1A) and Nicholas Morin (1G, 1A) all found the back of the net in the first 10:30. But a Hunter Ashton power play goal 2:05 later put the game out of reach as BWC Academy claimed a 6-3 win.听

Calgary International Hockey Academy (4/OT) vs OHA Edmonton (3) U15

Despite the massive CIHA shot advantage, the game needed 61 minutes of action to declare a winner. Eric Sexton and Kirk Girard traded goals 1:03 apart midway through the second period. Emerson Hiebert restored the CIHA lead just a few minutes later. After a scoreless second Eli Swift (2G) tied the game 36 seconds into the third. Liam Nycholat put CIHA ahead in the final two minutes but Swift scored again just 35 seconds later to tie the game and force overtime. In OT Brik McCord Cooper scored on CIHA鈥檚 54th shot of the game to give his team the 4-3 win. Taylor Green (22/25) and Connor Phillips (50/54) were in net for their respective teams.听听

RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna (2) vs Okanagan Hockey Academy (0) U18 Prep

Conner Nicolson (42/42) made 42 saves to backstop RHA Kelowna to a 2-0 shutout victory over OHA. Brady Walker scored the game winning goal 8:27 into the first and Owen Downey added an insurance marker late in the second before a scoreless third period. Chayse Johnson (30/32) made 30 saves in the loss.听

St. George’s School (4) vs North Shore Warriors (1) U17 Prep

St. George鈥檚 led 2-0 after 20 as Jayan Sinha and Jason Gao (2G) scored less than six minutes apart. Gao scored to open the second before Connor Liu got North Shore on the board with a power play marker late in the period. Byron Chin scored his ninth goal of the season to put the game out of reach as St. George鈥檚 closed out Thanksgiving Weekend with a 4-1 win. Defenseman Josh Gravistin (3A) led all skaters with three points.
