GAME DAY RECAP: October 27, 2023

Delta Hockey Academy Black (7) vs St. Mary鈥檚 High School (2) Female U18 Prep

Niayah Morris (2G) opened the day up with a pair of first period goals to put Delta Black in a comfortable position. These two would be followed with another four unanswered goals for Delta Black to ensure a quality victory over St. Mary鈥檚 High School.听听

Pilot Mound Hockey Academy (2) vs North Shore Warriors (5) Female U18 Prep

A top-shelf snipe from Emily Gerdevich got North Shore on the board half way through the first period before Jaida Powell (2G) would score the next two to establish a strong lead. Ashlyn Kuffler (1G, 1A) would score a powerplay goal for Pilot Mound late in the second but a quick response from Kate Pettersen in the third thwarted any chance at a comeback for Pilot Mound.

RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna (4/SO) vs Delta Hockey Academy (3) U18 Prep

It was all RHA Kelowna in the first period of play. Armaan Kaila (28/31) turned away 12-shots from the division鈥檚 top team, surrendering one to Joe Iginla (1G, 1A) on a quick shot from the right circle. Grayson Salmon would capitlize off of a 2-on-1 early in the second to bring things back to even but a quick one-two punch from RHA Kelowna put them back up by two before the end of the second. Ryan Lin would take one coast-to-coast for a powerplay marker early in the third to sway some momentum in Delta鈥檚 favour. This surge would lead to a game-tying goal from Jack Ferguson with 2:18 left on the clock, forcing overtime and an eventual shootout. Kelsen Podworny and McCarthy Richardson would score both goals for RHA Kelowna while Steele Bass (30/33) stopped both attempts from Delta to keep their undefeated record alive.

Ontario Hockey Academy Gold (4) vs King Heights Academy U18 (2) Eastern U18

Romaine Pointdavoine would put King Heights on the board first despite being outshot in the first period. However, Louie White (2G) and Jett Jock (2A) would combine for two goals early in the second to bring OHA Gold back into the game. Hakon Eskeland (30/32) would stop 25-shots in the final two periods, helping fend off seven King Heights powerplays in the process.

RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg (4) vs Shawnigan Lake School (6) Female U18 Prep

A busy first period would see both teams with three goals a piece after 20-minutes, including a buzzer beater from Tyhia Delorme for her first of the season. A much quieter second period would only see one tally, that being from RHA Winnipeg鈥檚 Lareina Settee off of a nice backhand pass from Cassidy Bodnaryk. However, Shawnigan Lake would come back from a dominant third. Zoe Cramer (3G, 1A) would score 42-seconds in to tie it, then Morgan Jackson (2G, 2A) ripped one home on the powerplay for the eventual game winner. Cramer would finish off her hat-trick with a powerplay goal to put the cherry on top.

Okanagan Hockey Academy Black (0) vs South Alberta Hockey Academy (10) Female U18 Prep

SAHA comfortably strolled to victory on Friday with double-digits on the scoresheet. Keyana Bert (2G, 2A) and Kamryn Reiber (1G, 3A) led the scoring race for SAHA while only two other skaters were left without a point. Maddy Ferguson (10/10) stopped all ten shots for the shutout versus OHA Black.

Northern Alberta Xtreme (6) vs OHA Edmonton (0) U15 Prep

Two goals in the first from Thayne Wasyluk and Ben Harvey (1G, 1A) separated by only 30-seconds apart were enough for NAX to topple over their rivals at OHA Edmonton. Gavin Harrison (1G, 1A) would add another in the second and Jaggar John (1G, 2A) would jump on to the scoresheet with a goal just 19-seconds into the third. Oliver Bryks (28/28) stood tall for the entire 60-minutes, turning away 28-shots for the shutout.

Wenatchee Wild Hockey Academy (2) vs North Shore Warriors (6) U18 Prep

Wenatchee exited the first period with a lead thanks to a late goal from Joe Marranzino (1G, 1A), but Shane Purves (3G) would strike early in the second for his second goal of the afternoon. Dylan Ruff would follow in suit shortly after with what would be the eventual game winner off of a beautiful individual effort. Purves would polish off his hat-trick later in the period. Deacon Drummond (4A) also made himself noticed on the panel, tallying four primary assists. Drummond now leads his team in the assists column.

Edge School (0) vs RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna (6) Female U18 Prep

Chloe Primerano (1G, 3A) led the way with a four-point match over Edge in a convincing 6-0 victory. Ava McLeod also picked up her first goal of the season while Farah Walker (12/12) found the scoresheet with an assist on top of her 12-save shutout.听

Okanagan Hockey Academy (2) vs St. Mary’s Academy (3) Female U18 Prep

Chiara Wilson (2G) and Maggie Nicol (1G, 1A) opened the scoring for St. Mary鈥檚 to thrust ahead with a two goal lead after twenty. However, OHA would climb back, scoring a lone goal in the second, along with a late goal in the third to bring things back to even. With 3:37 on the clock, Wilson would strike once more off of a nice feed from Joanna Braun, allowing St. Mary鈥檚 to secure the victory.

St. George’s School (4) vs Okanagan Hockey Academy (5/OT) U17 Prep

Bradley Schmidt (1G, 2A) and C.J. Sandhu (2G) exchanged first period goals before Simon Cecconi (2G) and Connor Vogt scored in the second for OHA. Sandhu would get one back with one second remaining in the second and Minsuk Hou (1G, 1A) and Brenden Morgan (1G, 1A) would score in the first 2:24 of the third as St. George鈥檚 grabbed their first lead of the game. Kadyn O鈥橞rien (1G, 1A) would tie the game midway through the third and Cecconi would score just 45 seconds into OT to give OHA the 5-4 win.听

OHA Edmonton (2) vs RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg (6) U18 Prep

Lucas Bertolin, Remy Hlady (2G, 2A) and Matthew Bertolin (1G, 1A) scored first period goals as RHA Winnipeg grabbed a commanding 3-0 lead. Ethan Makokis would score a shorthanded marker 41 seconds into the second but it was cancelled out by a Tate Dolinsky (1G, 1A) marker. Jack Bilous and Hlady would extend the lead in the third, with Maddox Fisher scoring late for OHA Edmonton. Chase Furlong (36/38) made 36 saves for the win.听

Notre Dame (2) vs Calgary International Hockey Academy (1) U18 Prep

Ben Chornomydz (64/65) made a whopping 64 saves as Notre Dame defeated CIHA 2-1. After a scoreless first Calvin Gustafson and Ayden Pimm scored 34 seconds apart early in the second as Notre Dame grabbed a 2-0 lead. Carter Singleton would score midway through the game to get CIHA on the board but it wasn鈥檛 enough to overcome the goaltending performance from Chornomydz. Nate Stevens (22/24) was in net for the loss.听

Delta Hockey Academy Green (4/SO) vs Northern Alberta Xtreme (3) Female U18 Prep

Sarah Kjemhus scored her first of the season to open the scoring while Ellie Chou responded late in the first for Delta Green with her ninth of the year. Caris Erickson (1G, 1A) would score a powerplay marker early in the second for NAX with Kismet Dogan responding for Delta Green with a powerplay goal of her own. London McDavid would give Delta Green their first lead in the third before Peyton Carter鈥檚 fifth of the game would force extra time. After OT solved nothing, all three Delta Green shooters beat J鈥橝nne Colbow (41/44) and Maisie Cope (24/27) stopped one of two NAX shooters to give Delta Green a 4-3 win.听

Coeur d鈥橝lene Hockey Academy (1) vs Shawnigan Lake School (4) U18 Prep

Emmett Neitsch (30/31) made 30 saves to backstop Shawnigan to a 4-1 win Friday night. Keegan Lonsdale scored 2:35 in as Shawnigan grabbed an early lead but the first would end tied 1-1 thanks to a James Ghebbari goal. Eli McKamey (2G) would score twice in a span of 2:06 in the second and Joshua Polak (1G, 2A) would add his fifth of the season as Shawnigan pulled away in the second. Zane Hill (29/33) made 29 saves in defeat.听

Pacific Coast Hockey Academy (3) vs St. George’s School (4) U18 Prep

Reece Liu (2G) scored short handed and Jean-Loup Leonardon (1G, 1A) added his first of the season as St. George鈥檚 led 2-0 after 20. After a scoreless second, Ryker Rougeau would get PCHA on the board early in the third. Connor Pankratz (1G, 2A) would restore the two goal cushion but Jordan Ramsay (1G, 1A) and Jase Johnstone would score late in the third to tie the game and force overtime. Liu would need just 20 seconds in overtime to find the back of the net on the power play and give St. George鈥檚 a 4-3 win.听

Indigenous Sports Academy (0) vs Pilot Mound Hockey Academy (4) U17 Prep

Leonardo Begert, Jack Perrier (2G), and Zane Prince all scored while Piet Mierau (30/30) made 30 saves for his second shutout of the season as PMHA defeated ISA 4-0. Seth Goodstriker (47/51) made 41 saves in the loss.听

Northern Alberta Xtreme Blue (4/OT) vs South Alberta Hockey Academy (3) U17 Prep

Cole Fisher (1G,1A) and Riley Thorpe (1G, 2A) traded first period goals before Brennan Finke scored in the second to give SAHA a 2-1 lead heading into the third. Macklin Dobko would tie the game 3:21 into the third before Grady McLeod regave SAHA the lead 1:12 later. Jake MacDonald would tie the game with his fourth goal of the season and Jacob Harkness would score 43 seconds into OT as NAX Blue pulled out a 4-3 victory.听

North Shore Warriors (0) vs Rink Hockey Academy Kelowna Black (7) U17 Prep

Kiran Fedun (1G, 3A), Benjamin Bowtell (1G, 2A), Soren Brons-Douville (1G, 2A) and Aidan Fisher (1G, 2A) paced the RHA Kelowna Black offence to a 7-0 victory over North Shore. Sartaj Dhami (15/15) made 15 saves for the shutout. Beckham Brossard (63/70) faced 70 shots in the NSW net.听

South Alberta Hockey Academy (1) vs Edge School (3) U18 Prep

Potential 2024 WHL Draft first overall pick Landon DuPont (2G, 1A) played a part in all three Edge goals as they defeated SAHA 3-1. Lochlan Tetaranko scored the other Edge goal while Ryley Budd (35/36) made 35 saves in the win. Brayden Ryan-Mackay scored the lone SAHA goal in the loss.听

Okanagan Hockey Academy (4) vs BWC Academy (1) U18 Prep

Markus Ruck (2G) and Jonathan Bitonti traded first period goals as the game was tied 1-1 after 20. Ruck would score the eventual game winner 8:35 into the second while Kayden Clarke and Jacob Selent would add insurance markers. Ryan Tamelin (24/25) would shut the door in the third to secure the OHA win. Preston Lewis (53/57) made 53 saves in the loss.听

Northern Alberta Xtreme (4) vs Prairie Hockey Academy (1) U18 Prep

Presley Kerner (1G,1A) opened the scoring with his first goal of the season as NAX led after 20. Avery Johnson would tie the game late in the second but Luke Powell (1G,1A) would respond for NAX 1:21 later. Daxon Rudolph (1G,1A) and Jordan Duguay would add third period goals and Sam Saskiw (23/24) made 23 saves in net for the win.听

Shawnigan Lake School (4) vs Pacific Coast Hockey Academy Blue (6) U17 Prep

Backed by a Jed Lake (3G) hat-trick and a three point effort by Parson Shahi (1G, 2A) PCHA Blue defeated Shawnigan Lake 6-4. Braxton Becker (38/42) made 38 saves while Haydyn Brooks (2A) and Elliott Lee (2A) each had two assists. Brandon Kendall (1G,1A) and Matthew Last (1G, 1A) each had two points in the loss.听

Coeur d鈥橝lene Hockey Academy Navy (2) vs Delta Hockey Academy Black (4) U17 Prep

Siwoo Lee and Chase Pouchnik scored in the first 6:09 as CDA Navy held a 2-0 lead. Christian Sum and Liam McLeod would respond with first period goals of their own before the period ended. Nicholas Campbell (1G,2A) would score the eventual game winner 8:03 into the second and Lukas Kurtz (1G,1A) would add an insurance tally 10:12 into the third. Jake Poblete (13/15) made 13 saves for the win.听
