GAME DAY RECAP: September 22, 2024

CIH Academy (4) vs Mount Academy (1) Eastern U17

Liam Bosum and Adrien Barbes scored first period goals as CIH Academy led 2-0 after 20. Cade Stacey scored the lone second period goal to extend the lead. The third period saw Anri Ishigaki increase the deficit to 4. Harper Leard replied 29 seconds later to end the Sebastien Bourgeau shutout bid.听

CIH Academy (5) vs Mount Academy (2) Eastern U18

CIH Academy scored three straight in the first with Alex Thompson, Nikita Marinin, and Gordie Hester all finding the back of the net. Bryson Robinson scored the lone second period goal to get Mount on the board. James Martin got Mount within one midway through the third but Yoshin Takahara scored with 2:10 left to double the lead and Tucker Clare added an empty net goal to secure the CIH Academy victory.听

Okanagan Hockey Academy (1) vs Delta Hockey Academy (11) U15 Prep

Quinn Coupland (20/21) made 20 saves and Delta fired 66 at Brayden Unruh (55/66), beating him 11 times in an 11-1 win. Brady Cyr (2G), Tripp Fischer (2G, 2A) and Brady Oatman (2G, 1A) all scored twice while Casey Pearson (1G, 2A) had two assists in the win. Cooper Giarraputo scored the lone OHA goal.听

Coeur d鈥橝lene Hockey Academy (0) vs RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna (9) U17 AAA

Aiden Andrews (1G, 3A) and Kesler Hamilton (1G, 3A) led all skaters with four points and Griffin Hoy (2G, 1A) scored twice as RHA Kelowna defeated CDA 9-0. Jones Griffin (10/10) faced just 10 shots in net to earn the shutout.听

Shawnigan Lake School (2) vs Coeur d鈥橝lene Hockey Academy (1) U17 Prep

Stefan Kostin (28/29) and Alex Doyer (27/29) each faced 29 shots but it was a 28 save performance by Kostin that gave Shawnigan a 2-1 win over CDA. Sullivan Bryan scored his second goal of the season midway through the first period. After a scoreless second, Dylan Johnson scored 3:27 into the third to tie the game. Bryan would score the eventual game winner less than two minutes later to give his team their second win of the season.听

RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg (0) vs Northern Alberta Xtreme (10) U15 Prep

NAX outshot RHA Winnipeg 62-17 en route to a 10-0 win Sunday. Teagen Bouchard (3G, 1A) recorded a hattrick while Ahmad Fayad (2G, 2A) and Nolan Wolitski (1G, 3A) each added four points. Dawson Sheehan (17/17) made 17 saves for the shutout victory.听

Pacific Coast Hockey Academy (6) vs BWC Academy (3) U17 AAA

Carter Langton opened the scoring for BWC Academy 5:37 into the first but PCHA led 3-1 after 20 thanks to goals from Hagan Purinton, Owen Bate (2G) and Owen Hyde (3G). Hyde and Bate scored 2:06 apart early in the second to extend the lead. Josiah Lacerte gave BWC Academy life but Hyde scored 1:40 later to complete the hat-trick. Luca Misceo scored a late consolation goal with 1:24 remaining as the game ended 6-3 in favour of Pacific Coast.听

Prairie Hockey Academy (4) vs South Alberta Hockey Academy (1) U17 Prep

Kade Kahovec鈥檚 third goal of the season gave Prairie a lead heading into the second. Seamus Dillon added a shorthanded tally for Prairie 5:50 into the second, though Brennan Finke responded for SAHA 47 seconds later. Van Huebner and Dillon would score 10 seconds apart late in the third as Prairie skated to a 4-1 win.Karter Hilbig (26/27) made 26 saves in the win.听

St. George’s School (5) vs STAR Hockey Academy (1) U15 AAA

A goal just 31 seconds in by Luca Rogers gave St. George鈥檚 an early 1-0 lead. Benton Fuller and Liam McLean traded goals to close out the period before a scoreless second saw St. George鈥檚 continue to lead by one heading into the third. Hudson Lesk would score twice on the power play and Brayden Loh added his first of the season as St. George鈥檚 pulled away in the third for a 5-1 win.听

North Shore Warriors (1) vs Yale Hockey Academy (4) U15 AAA

Lukas Stevens and Connor Baines (2G) scored in the first and Sebastien Sibley added a second period marker as Yale led 3-0 after 40. Brody Watson ended the Logan Hwan (23/24) shutout bid 4:50 into the third but a Baines goal with 57 seconds remaining secured the Yale win.听

Okanagan Hockey Academy (2) vs Delta Hockey Academy White (5) U15 AAA

Zhehan Zhao and Ryan Pickell scored 3:13 apart in the first to give Delta a 2-0 lead. Levi Leitner got OHA on the board with a second period power play goal and Owen Magness tied the game late in the period. The third saw Delta score three unanswered as Hayden Zygarliski, Jayden Ni (1G, 2A) and Ryder Pavlic (1G, 1A) all found the back of the net. Cohen Wood (31/33) and Ethan Watson (45/49) were in net for their respective teams.听

Okanagan Hockey Academy (8) vs RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna (4) U17 Prep

Joshua Johnstone and Maxx Parfitt (2G, 2A) traded first period goals as the game was tied 1-1. Jacob Leamy (1G, 2A) scored 24 seconds into the second, Marcus Domhof scored 1:06 later, and William Pattison scored 1:01 after that as OHA leapt ahead. Preston Kelly-Paquet got one back for RHA Kelowna four minutes later and Carson Smith scored 2:27 into the third as RHA Kelowna closed the gap to one. But Landon Nagle (1G, 1A), Parfitt, Luke Assi (1G, 1A) and Brody McLean scored four straight for OHA to put the game out of reach. Reid Rabinovitch added a late consolation goal for RHA Kelowna to round out the scoring.听

Okanagan Hockey Academy Black (3) vs North Shore Warriors (5) Female U18 Prep

Lily Dekkers and Gia Carella traded first period goals before a scoreless second saw the game deadlocked heading into the final 20. Elena Osterberg gave North Shore their first lead 2:35 into the third period. Hayden Wild (1G, 1A) tied the game 2:22 later but it was short lived as Knyla Evans (1G, 1A) scored just nine seconds after that. Taylor Simpson would again tie the game but a Lily Zohner (1G, 1A) power play marker and a late Gemma Han goal gave North Shore a 5-3 win over OHA Black. Mackenzie Ayou (23/26) and Teagan Janzen (44/49) were in net for their respective teams.听

OHA Edmonton (2) vs Northern Alberta Xtreme (5) U17 Prep

Asher Halliday (1G, 1A) and Tyrie Ehrenberg scored first period goals as NAX led 2-0 after 20. Logan Miller (1G, 1A) scored a power play goal 1:09 into the second to get OHA Edmonton on the board before Aiden Across The Mountain and Bronsyn Mouille (1G, 1A) scored to give NAX a 4-1 lead. Owen Morrow scored a late second period goal for OHA Edmonton to bring them within two going into the third where Jackson Tetreault put the game to bed 6:35 into the third with his second goal of the season. Cam Hoose (34/36) made 34 saves for the win.听

STAR Hockey Academy (4) vs Yale Hockey Academy (7) U17 Prep

Kessler Hauser (2G) opened the scoring for Yale before Kyler Bush (1G, 2A) and Macguire Newman traded goals less than two minutes apart. Seth Castronuovo scored shorthanded to extend the Yale lead early in the second but back-to-back goals from Adrian Afrakov and Aleks Ostrovskyy tied the game. Daniel Havard restored the Yale lead just 1:37 later. Max Carpenter tied the game with a shorthanded goal with 5:09 left to play before Matteo Di Stefano (2G, 1A) scored the game winning goal 1:06 later, and added an insurance marker 1:59 after that. Hauser would score with six seconds left to secure the victory.听

OHA Edmonton (2) vs Edge School U15 (10) AAA

Charlie Near (2) scored 1:07 in and Brody Antignani (1G, 2A) added one of his own 1:06 later as Edge raced out to an early lead. Ian Kim got OHA Edmonton on the board midway through the period before an Easton Armstrong (2G) power play goal restored the two goal lead. Tyler O鈥橤orman (1G, 1A) and Near scored 20 seconds apart to open the second and Cade Mazurski (1G, 1A) found the back of the net on the power play. Marek Pashko would respond for OHA Edmonton 59 seconds later but Zachary Pomeroy (1G, 3A) countered for Edge. In the third Armstrong added his second and Luke Bodtker (2G) scored twice in 38 seconds as Edge earned a 10-2 win.

OHA Edmonton (2) vs Northern Alberta Xtreme (4) U18 Prep

Hunter Yee opened the scoring for OHA Edmonton just 1:43 in but Reid Soper responded for NAX exactly one minute later and Grady Wedman added a late first period tally. Brady Whitehead scored 5:09 into the second and Carter Ellsworth added his first of the season 1:19 later as NAX took a commanding 4-1 lead. Josh McKague would get one back for OHA Edmonton later in the period but Tyler Swanson (14/16) kept a clean sheet in the third to secure a 4-2 NAX victory.听

St. George’s School (2) vs Shawnigan Lake School (3) U18 Prep

Will Stonehouse (44/46) made 44 saves to backstop Shawnigan to a 3-2 win. After a scoreless first, Vincent Croteau (2G) scored an even strength and a power play goal to put Shawnigan ahead. Easton Sangris would add a shorthanded goal a few minutes later, though London Taylor (1G, 1A) countered with a goal on the same power play to get St. George鈥檚 on the board. Sam Auld brought his team within one midway through the third but despite throwing 24 shots on net in the third, St. George鈥檚 was unable to find an equaliser.听

Yale Hockey Academy (7) vs Pacific Coast Hockey Academy (5) U15 Prep

Matthew Zaitchikov (2G) opened the scoring just 30 seconds in, setting the tone for a high scoring affair. Dane Dyer (1G, 1A) scored 3:02 later on the power play with PCHA pulling ahead 6:59 into the game when Sebastian Nuttall found the back of the net. Santino Iriberri (1G, 1A) tied the game on the power play and Matteo Zenone put Yale ahead with 15 seconds left in the period. Parker McMillan (3G) and Luke Schamehorn (1G, 1A) traded goals in the second as the two teams remained separated by one goal heading into the third. Nixon Szadkowski tied the game before McMillan and Mazen Green scored a minute apart. 39 seconds later McMillan would complete the hattrick and score the game winning goal, his seventh goal of the season. Zaitchikov would add a late insurance marker with 1:07 left as Yale earned a 7-5 win.听

OHA Edmonton (1) vs Northern Alberta Xtreme (5) U17 AAA

Jackson Curle and Rhett Hudson traded goals in the first period as the two teams were tied after 20. OHA Edmonton outshot NAX 18-17 over the final four but it was NAX who found the back of the net four times. Barrett Fogolin (1G, 1A) scored the game winning goal against his former team 4:52 into the second. Seth Kshyk (1G, 1A) and Braeden Malenchak scored 10 minutes apart in the second and Kegan Power (1G, 1A) scored the lone third period goal to round out the scoring. Lenox Alanen (24/25) made 24 saves for the win while Daniel Marsden (23/28) was in net for the loss.听
