GAME DAY RECAP: September 29, 2023

Bishop’s College School (4) vs Champions Hockey Academy (6) Eastern U17

Emanuel Di Paolo opened the scoring 1:25 in and Max Patenaude (2G) responded for CHA midway through the frame as the first ended tied 1-1. Logan Charby (2G) would score twice inside the first minute of the second and Zachary Roussy (1G, 1A) would add his first of the season as Bishop鈥檚 College led 4-2 midway through the hockey game. But Brodie McClement, Declan Kennedy (2G) and Bryson Robinson (1G, 1A) would give CHA the lead heading into the third and Patenaude would score his second of the game to secure a Champions Hockey Academy victory.听

Mount Academy (4) vs CIH Academy Green (2) Eastern U18

Mount Academy outshot CIH Green 60-29 en route to a 4-2 win Friday morning. Luke Achim (2G, 1A) and Nikita Schneider (2G) exchanged first period goals. Jesse Gauthier and Achim would score late in the second to give Mount a 3-1 lead after 40. Schneider would find the back of the net 1:01 into the third but Tibor Nemeth (1G, 1A) would seal the deal with 10:51 remaining. Matis Bureau-Morel (56/60) and Jason Tremblay (27/29) were in between the pipes for their respective teams.听

North Shore Warriors (6) vs Pilot Mound Hockey Academy (3) U15 Prep

North Shore burst out to a 3-0 lead as Conor Nicolson (1G, 1A), Kayden Runstedler (1G, 1A) and Lucas Lekakis (2G) all scored their first goals of the season. Chase MacDonald and Forrest Karlson (1G, 1A) would respond for PMHA before Nash Dickson (1G, 1A), Casey Pearson (1G, 1A) and Lekakis all scored for NSW. Cole Landreville (1G, 1A) would find the back of the net near the end of the second to make the score 6-3. Oscar Hicik (33/36) would shut the door in the third period to secure the North Shore win.听

BWC Academy (5) vs Northern Alberta Xtreme (6) U15 Prep

Backed by a 5/5 power play and four third period goals NAX would come from behind to defeat BWC Academy 6-5. Blake Chorney (2G, 2A) and Ben Harvey (2G, 3A) each scored twice while Cam Hoose (27/32) made 27 saves for NAX in the win. Justin Moon (2G) scored twice and Connor Liu (3A) led all BWC Academy skaters with three points. Aiden Lazazzera (39/45) made 39 stops in the loss.听

Fort Erie International Academy (1) vs Bourget College (8) Eastern U18

Mathys Blanchette (1G, 1A) set the tone for Bourget College just eight seconds in with his first goal of the season. Alexandre St. Pierre would tie the game two minutes later before Bourget erupted for seven unanswered. William Roy (1G, 2A) led all skaters with three points and Bourget netminder Roey Vered (10/11) made 10 saves in the win. Timothee Fengos (75/83) faced 83 shots in the loss.听

Okanagan Hockey Academy Black (2) vs St. Mary’s Academy (5) Female U18 Prep

Mia Faseruk (2G, 1A) and Kaitlyn Harvey (2G) each scored twice while teammates Jakiah Curle (2A), Payton Henwood (2A) and Chiara Wilson (2A) each recorded two assists as St. Mary鈥檚 defeated OHA Black 5-2. Samera Gabriel and Hayden Wild score the OHA Black goals in the loss.听

North Shore Warriors (5) vs Pilot Mound Hockey Academy (0) Female U18 Prep

Hyoseo Cheon (30/30) stopped all 30 shots she faced to earn her first shutout of the 2023/24 CSSHL season as North Shore defeated PMHA 5-0. Maggie-Kate Fitzpatrick (1G, 2A) and Emily Gerdevich (2G, 1A) paced the North Shore offence with three points each. Brooklynn Adams (40/45) stopped 40 shots in the loss.听听

Pacific Coast Hockey Academy (4) vs Notre Dame (5/OT) U15 Prep

Phoenix Moyer-Isram (2G) and Brodie Bourgoin scored for PCHA while Riley Brown and Will Parsons (2G) countered for Notre Dame as the third period started tied 2-2. Hagan Purinton would re-give PCHA the lead before Ethan Fitzpatrick (1G, 1A) and Parsons responded for Notre Dame late in the third. Moyer-Isram would tie the game with 40 seconds remaining to force OT where Thomas Ma would score his first of the season to give Notre Dame the win.听

Calgary International Hockey Academy (12) vs OHA Edmonton (2) U17 Prep

Brendan Rudolph (1G, 4A) and Kaden Hayes (2G, 2A) led all skaters with five and four points respectively and Cole Prelusky (26/28) earned his fourth win in as many games as CIHA defeated OHA Edmonton 12-2. Ryder Naim and Jack Pettipas (1G, 1A) scored for OHA Edmonton in the loss.听

Fort Erie International Academy (1) vs Ontario Hockey Academy White (8) Eastern U17

Nolan Mason (4G) scored four times and teammate Wai Sum Wong (2G) found the back of the net twice as OHA White defeated Fort Erie 8-1. Kaemon Dax Tran (3A) and Harrison O鈥機onnor (3A) each chipped in with three assists while netminder Ivan Petrov (27/28) stopped 27 shots. Joel Thompson scored the lone FEIA goal 3:18 into the game as his team held an initial 1-0 lead before giving up eight straight.听

Okanagan Hockey Academy (6) vs Delta Hockey Academy Black (3) U15 Prep

OHA outshot Delta Black 58-26 while outscoring them 6-3. Trey Tourigny (2G) scored twice while Cohen Handby (1G, 2A) led all OHA skaters with three points. Davin Hart (2G, 1A) and Christian Sum (1G, 2A) played a part in all three Delta Black goals. Linden Sobocan (23/26) picked-up the win while Logan Jones (52/58) earned the loss.听

Shawnigan Lake School (6) vs Mount Academy (1) Eastern U17

After a scoreless first Cameron Ellsworth opened the scoring for Mount Academy 3:57 into the second. A Nolan Blankstein (1G, 1A) goal midway through the second would tie the game heading into the third where Shawnigan would explode for five unanswered goals. Brandon Kendall鈥檚 goal 40 seconds into the third held up as the game winner with Nigel Alberts (2G), Easton Sangris and Ryder Kerr providing insurance markers.听

Yale Hockey Academy (9) vs St. George’s School (4) U17 Prep

In a high scoring affair it was Yale who came out on top with a 9-4 win over St. George鈥檚. Seth Castronuovo (2G, 2A), Matthew Dowdall (2G, 2A) and Jayden Oleskiw (2G) all scored twice for Yale while Hudson May (1G, 2A) chipped in with three points. Sachin Sidhu (1G, 2A) led the way for St. George鈥檚, scoring the game’s opening goal just 1:51 in.听

Delta Hockey Academy Black (2) vs St. Mary鈥檚 High School (3/OT) Female U18 Prep

Delta Black had the upper hand early on in this matchup with first period tallies from Niayah Morris (1G) and Kira Bui (1G). Bui has scored in each of Delta Black鈥檚 games so far this season. St. Mary鈥檚 High School would pot one before the end of the first, but would claw back in the second thanks to Kailey Favro (2G) who would score her second of the afternoon. In overtime after Delta Black received an opportunity for a powerplay once their penalty expired, St. Mary鈥檚 High School would score a wrister thanks to the stick of Sofia Pittis (1G).

RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna (1) vs Delta Hockey Academy Green (6) U15 Prep

Delta Green came flying out the gates with a three goal first period, outshooting RHA Kelowna 21-7 in the process. Kishan Saggu (2G) led the way with a pair of goals. Alongside him, Alexander Laing (1G) and Caden Leibel (1G, 1A) would each find their fourth goals of the young season. Matthew Wong (26/27) would hold down the fort for a tidy 26 saves while backing his team to a comfortable victory.

Ulysse Academie (2) vs Ontario Hockey Academy Prep (5) Eastern U18

Oliver Kiraly (39/41) backstopped OHA in a hard fought victory against Ulysse Academie in an afternoon affair. OHA would hop on the board with two goals in the latter half of the first while Kiraly kept Ulysse鈥檚 12 shots at bay. Tomas Lukes (1G, 1A) would add another to OHA鈥檚 lead before Ulysse struck back for two unanswered before the end of the second, but Cole Sheperdson (1G, 2A) would clinch the insurance marker late in the third to secure OHA the win.

Okanagan Hockey Ontario (2) vs CIH Academy White (3) Eastern U18

It was an afternoon for CIH White goaltender Sebastiano Moroni (43/45), who kept his team鈥檚 hopes alive in their first game of the season. With a shortened roster, Moroni鈥檚 consistency along with Noah Picken鈥檚 (2G, 1A) production, CIH White was able to steal a win from OHO. Keagan Lindsay (3A) was another key contributor in Friday鈥檚 win.

RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna (8) vs RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg (0) Female U18 Prep

The reigning Female Prep league champions did not take their foot off of the accelerator entering the 2023/24 season, breaking down the fence in an offensive onslaught in Penticton this afternoon. Academy vets Chloe Primerano (1G, 2A) and Gracie Graham (2G, 1A) led the charge across the ice while freshmen Alida Korte (2G, 1A) also made their presence heard on the scoresheet. Madison Bowtell (16/16) was there to claim the shutout in the RINK showdown.

Yale Hockey Academy (3) vs OHA Edmonton (4) U15 Prep

Miles Hartmann (2G) kicked things off for OHA Edmonton, setting the pace for the rest of the game with the first two goals of the match. Owen Archer (3A) provided support on both sides of the ice to further add to OHA Edmonton鈥檚 score. A late surge from Ollie Reid (1G, 1A) and YHA was enough to spark a comeback, but it was too little too late as Yale would fall one short.

Okanagan Hockey Academy (2) vs Northern Alberta Xtreme Female (3) U18 Prep

After a couple early stops from Jaya Schippel (41/44), Jada Wood (1G) would strike on a breakaway to give OHA the early lead. However, Elise Slywka (2G) would score back-to-back goals for NAX to put them ahead halfway through the second. Isabella Roppo (1G) would ultimately score the GWG, sealing the deal for NAX.

Shawnigan Lake School (2) vs Prairie Hockey Academy (6) U15 Prep

PHA made themselves heard from Vancouver Island as they took on the host team in this weekend鈥檚 showcase. Luke Pratte (2G, 1A) would open the scoring with a shorthanded marker before Ason Apesis (2G, 1A) would follow in suit with two tallies, one of which being the GWG. Shawnigan would push back in the second, but a strong third from PHA sealed the deal in this afternoon affair.听

Northern Alberta Xtreme (14) vs Notre Dame (3) U15

NAX and Notre Dame would trade goals early in the first but NAX鈥檚 offence would take a chokehold shortly after. Ahmad Fayad (4G, 3A), Easton Doran (2G, 3A), and Easton Arndt (2G, 1A) would explode for a combined fifteen-points with many other skaters eclipsing the three-point mark. Tyson Moreland (15/18) would pick up the win in goal while NAX U15 stays perfect on the season.

Shawnigan Lake School (3) vs Edge School (1) Female U18 Prep

Mya Lawrence (2G) capped off the victory for Shawnigan in the evening game versus Edge. The tightly-knit affair started off with Edge in the lead after an even-strength goal from assistant captain, April Klarenbach (1G). Lawrence would bring Shawnigan back from the deficit along with the help of sophomore forward Morgan Jackson (3A) who added three primary helpers to lead Shawnigan to victory.

North Shore Warriors (0) vs RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg (6) U15 Prep

Hudson Hunnie (30/30) held the gate shut with an impressive shutout performance over the North Shore Warriors. Isaac Sousa (2G) and Drayden Uhrina (3A) led in terms of offence in this textbook victory for RHA Winnipeg.

Delta Hockey Academy Green (5) vs South Alberta Hockey Academy (0) Female U18 Prep

It was a night to remember for Maisie Cope (43/43) as she put the team on her back in a memorable shutout performance, while also shutting down three powerplays in the process. The offence was sparked by veteran forward Ellie Choe (2G) with some extra support from Karington Mollin who secured the early, yet important, GWG.听

St. George’s School (1) vs Edge School (7) U15 Prep

With St. George鈥檚 trying to keep their undefeated season intact and Edge trying to find their first win, it was bound to be an emotional game against the two academies. Mirco Dufour (3G, 1A) was able to find his scoring touch which was so prevalent last season before exiting the game after taking a boarding penalty. Nathan Cole (1G, 1A) would help tidy things up offensively, while Brock Cripps (1G) scored the lone goal for St. George鈥檚 in their first loss of the season.
