GAME DAY RECAP: September 29, 2024

RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna (1) vs Delta Hockey Academy Black (3) U15 AAA

Harrison Sharman gave RHA Kelowna the lead just 1:27 into the game but Delta Black would respond with three straight to claim a 3-1 win. Taegeon Park (2G) tied the game with a shorthanded goal 8:19 into the game. He would score the game winning goal 5:22 into the middle frame. Zachary Giles would add an insurance marker just 39 seconds later and Brayden Allan (30/31) would make 30 saves as Delta Black held RHA Kelowna off the scoresheet in the final two periods to claim the 3-1 win.听

STAR Hockey Academy (1) vs Pilot Mound Hockey Academy (7) U17 Prep

Gavin Noseworthy (1G, 2A) scored just 15 seconds in as part of a three goal first period for Pilot Mound. Aleks Ostrovskyy tied the game minutes later before Pilot Mound scored six unanswered en route to the 7-1 win. Adam Zamecnik (2G) scored twice while defenseman Chadrick Schulz (3A) tied Noseworthy for the team lead with three points. Matthew Palmer (17/18) made 17 saves to earn PMHA their first win of the season.听

North Shore Warriors (3) vs OHA Edmonton (8) U17 Prep

OHA Edmonton led just 27 seconds in on a goal from Jaggar John (3G, 3A) but Chase Vossenaar (2G) levelled the score heading into the second. Cash Brebant (2G, 4A) and Connor Liu (1G, 1A) traded goals 1:14 apart before OHA Edmonton scored 4 goals in 49 seconds, ending with John completing the hat-trick. Brebant would extend the lead 27 seconds into the third while Vossenaar and Iljas Hasuew scored 20 seconds apart to round out the scoring.听

Edge School (3) vs Notre Dame (2) U17 AAA

After a scoreless first Robbie Williamson gave Notre Dame a lead going into the third with the lone second period goal. Jacob Kuntz tied the game 2:20 into the final frame and Rylan Saunders (1G, 1A) gave Edge their first lead 9 minutes later. Cyril Herauf tied the game with 5:08 remaining but Austin Jefferies broke the Notre Dame hearts when he found the back of the net with 46 seconds left on the clock. Emerson Popil (23/25) and Nathan Thompson (40/43) were in net for their respective teams.听

Rink Hockey Academy Winnipeg (7) vs Prairie Hockey Academy (3) U15 AAA

RHA Winnipeg scored two goals in 59 seconds as Eli Wasylyk (1G, 1A) and Aiden Christie (1G, 2A) each found the back of the net for the first time this season. Shea Streu (3G, 1A) would score twice to start the second while teammate Nash Dolyny added a shorthanded goal. Prairie would finally get on the board late in the second when Tristan Reimer (1G, 1A) scored his third goal of the season. Streu completed the hat-trick 12:00 into the third and Ryder Olford (1G, 1A) added his third of the season 1:51 later. Jakub Palmer and Addison Wanner scored late consolation goals for Prairie to round out the scoring.听

Pacific Coast Hockey Academy (1) vs BWC Academy (5) U15 Prep

A shorthanded goal by Justin Moon gave BWC Academy a 1-0 lead but Mazen Green responded with a power play goal with 1 second left in the period. Logan Henry (2G) would score the game winning goal 1:57 into the second while Haydn Goetzinger, Henry and Elias Papadatos (1G, 1A) added security measures. Bentley Edgar (14/15) made 14 saves for the win.听

Okanagan Hockey Academy (3) vs Coeur d鈥橝lene Hockey Academy (2) U17 AAA

Despite a 61 save effort from Steven Jones (61/64), CDA came up one goal short in a 3-2 loss to OHA. Ollie Halowaty and Jaxson Bartsch (1G, 2A) scored their second goals of the season in the first as OHA grabbed a 2-0 lead. Knox Vogel and Gage Kiselbach (1G, 2A) would trade second period goals as the deficit remained at two. Haven Brunham would bring CDA within one 3:11 into the third but Alex Youngson (11/13) shut the door the rest of the way to clinch the OHA victory.听

North Shore Warriors (2) vs Pilot Mound Hockey Academy (1) Female U18 Prep

In a goaltending duel that saw Haylie Hedges (44/45) and Rehn Hall (49/51) both make 45-plus saves, it was North Shore who came out ahead 2-1. Gia Carella scored the lone first period goal and Kaida Okamura scored the game winner midway through the hockey game. Alia Drummond would solve Hedges midway through the third but Pilot Mound was unable to find an equaliser as North Shore held on for the 2-1 win.听

Delta Hockey Academy Black (1) vs St. Mary’s Academy (4) Female U18 Prep

In search of their first win of the season Jakiah Curle and Maggie Nicol scored first period goals for St. Mary鈥檚. Payton Henwood (1G, 1A) added a second period tally to give her team a commanding 3-0 lead. Addison McFegan would score a power play goal with 12:26 remaining to get Delta Black on the board and back into the fight. But Camryn Falloon (1G, 1A) would score an empty net goal and Sasha Coutu (32/33) finished with 32 saves to give St. Mary鈥檚 their first victory of the new campaign.听

Notre Dame (1) vs Coeur d鈥橝lene Hockey Academy (3) U17 Prep

CDA (4-2-0) grabbed their fourth win of the season with a 3-1 victory over Notre Dame (0-3-0) Sunday. Dylan Johnson鈥檚 fifth goal of the season gave CDA a first period lead but Thomas MacPhee quickly countered 1:24 later. Matthew Latscha scored the game winning goal 1:39 into the second and Sal Costa added an insurance marker less than two minutes later. Alex Doyer (34/35) would stop 24 shots through the final 40 to keep Notre Dame off the scoresheet and out of the win column. Clay Harmon (28/31) was charged with the loss.听

St. George’s School (3/OT) vs Shawnigan Lake School (2) U17 Prep

St. George鈥檚 (3-3-0) upped their record to the .500 mark with a 3-2 overtime win over Shawnigan (4-1-1). Callum Starnes scored the lone first period goal as Shawnigan led 1-0 after 20. Jason Gao (3G) tied the game midway through the second before a Phoenix Hinks power play marker re-stored the Shawnigan lead. Gao would tie the game midway through the third and then score the overtime winner 33 seconds in, completing the hat-trick and the come-from-behind victory.听

Yale Hockey Academy (7) vs Delta Hockey Academy (1) U18 Prep

Yale opened the scoring 1:54 in, scoring six unanswered as they defeated Delta 7-1. Nathan Kam (30/31) made 30 saves and Alexandre Jacques (1G, 2A) led all skaters with three points. Gus Schill (2G) scored twice while Eli Barrett (1G, 1A), Matthew Dowdall (1G, 1A) and Ryker Swanson (1G, 1A) each recorded two points. Tyson Schamehorn scored the lone goal for Delta in the loss.听

Shawnigan Lake School (1) vs St. George’s School (3) U18 Prep

After a scoreless first period Eddy Spytz scored a power play tally late in the second period to open the scoring. Amadeo Sim scored the eventual game winner 1:50 into the third and Charlie Weaver added an insurance marker less than two minutes later. Nigel Alberts would end the Austin Ball (43/44) shutout bid with 12:29 remaining, but Ball would make 15 third period saves to secure the 3-1 win for St. George鈥檚.听

RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg (10) vs Notre Dame (1) U18 Prep

RHA Winnipeg outshot Notre Dame 51-14 while outsourcing them 10-1 Sunday. Drayden Uhrina (3G, 1A) recorded a hat-trick while Trystan Hunter (1G, 2A) and Jake Ritson (1G, 2A) each had three points. Callum Biers ended the Quinn Burfoot (13/14) shutout bid and RHA Winnipeg 10 goal run with 3:38 left to play.听

Pacific Coast Hockey Academy (5/OT) vs North Shore Warriors (4) U17 AAA

North Shore led 2-0 after 20 as Henry Lockhart scored on the power play and Duncan Gronberg added an even strength tally. North Shore would take a commanding 4-0 lead midway through the second as Laurenz Liebhart and Noah Russo each found the back of the net. Kaelen Rusjan (2G) would score short handed with 2:16 left in the second to ignite a Pacific Coast comeback that saw Lukas Needham (3G) score three straight goals, including a shorthanded marker late in the third to tie the game. In overtime PCHA would complete the comeback as Rusjan scored his third of the season 1:42 into the extra frame.听

RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg (0) vs OHA Edmonton (7) U17 AAA

Jaxon Ford (22/22) made 22 saves for his first career CSSHL shutout as OHA Edmonton blanked RHA Winnipeg 7-0. A first period goal by Jayden Squissato (2G, 1A) would be all of the offence OHA Edmonton would need but Noah Stone (2G, 2A), Jaxon Moss (1G, 1A), Nathan Okoloise and Kaiden Turta all got in on the action.听

Fort Erie International Academy (4) vs Okanagan Hockey Ontario (3) Eastern U18

Daniel Zick opened the scoring for Fort Erie 7:33 in but OHO led 2-1 after 20 as Jacob Zilber and Addison St. Cyr each scored their second goal of the season. Ben Cornick tied the game 4:45 into the second period with his first goal of the season. Anthony Macaluso re-stored the OHO lead but it was short lived as Baron Tanton responded for FEIA 1:09 later. Tied 3-3 in the third, Ethan Butler (1G, 1A) found the back of the net 2:08 into the period for his first goal of the season, giving Fort Erie the 4-3 win.听

OHA Edmonton (1) vs Calgary International Hockey Academy (4) U15 AAA

After Eric Sexton got CIHA on the board with a goal near the tail end of the first, Loic Lebel (2G, 1A) would add a pair of his own late in the second. Marek Pashko would claw one back for OHA Edmonton in the third but an insurance marker from Luke Van Waes (1G, 2A) would put this game to rest in favour of CIHA. Alexander Montembault (18/19) was in net for the win while Connor Phillips (30/34) made 30-saves in the loss.

Okanagan Hockey Academy (1) vs RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna (3) U15 Prep

OHA鈥檚 Nathan Marques scored the opening goal in this regional matchup with RHA Kelowna, establishing a lead that they would hold on to through forty minutes of play. It wasn鈥檛 until the third where RHA Kelowna would find their offensive touch. Luca Vaugeois would put RHA Kelowna on the board just 1:34 into the frame while Channon Fummerton scored the go ahead goal just over five-minutes later. Kaius Millan would net the empty insurance marker late, stapling the comeback victory shut. Gunner Podollan (23/24) was in between the pipes for the W while Maddox Slater (41/44) posted a strong 41-save effort on the other end.

North Shore Warriors (0) vs STAR Hockey Academy (7) U15 Prep

STAR would blank NSW in this Sunday affair, piling on 54-shots in the process. Levi Ellingsen (2G) would lead the charge with two goals to his name while Dylan Gale (1G, 1A) and Ronin Brunner (2A) posted two point efforts as well. Alexander Petukhov (12/12) picked up 12-saves in the shutout victory.

Okanagan Hockey Academy Black (2) vs Balmoral Hall School (11) Female U18 Prep

Madeline McKay (3G, 1A) nabbed her consecutive hat-trick in a commanding win over OHA Black, putting her up to 10-points on the campaign. Darby Amundson (2G) and Makenna Williment (2G) would each supply two goals of their own while Maddie Kaiser (4A) racked up four assists in the process. Mimi Ferreira (18/20) would tally 18-saves in the win for Balmoral Hall.

BWC Academy (2) vs Pacific Coast Hockey Academy (3/OT) U18 Prep

Rylan Krawietz got the ball rolling for PCHA with a blast from the point in the first. BWC Academy would later bounce back in the second after Gianni Bosa brought things back to even. Entering the third, Hunter Ashton would score on the powerplay, putting BWC Academy ahead for the first time in the match. However, Nanaimo, BC鈥檚 Madden Cruickshank would bury his second chance to tie things back up, forcing overtime. After only 8-seconds into the extra frame. Jed Lake (2A) would spot Trace Anderson making a B-line for the cage, going on to bury the OT winner in close. Both PCHA鈥檚 Sam Saskiw (37/39) and BWC Academy鈥檚 Asler Ames (37/40) would make 37-saves in the matchup.听

St. Mary鈥檚 High School (4) vs OHA Edmonton (11) Female U18 Prep

Riley Cooper鈥檚 (3G, 3A) six-point afternoon was the top of the scoresheet in OHA Edmonton鈥檚 offensive onslaught over St. Mary鈥檚 High School. Mercedes Dunbar (3G) would also nab a hat-trick in the process while Izzy Gollop (3A), Peyton Carter (3A), Ryann Chimera (3A) and Kyla Pappas (1G, 2A) each gathered three-points a piece.

South Alberta Hockey Academy (4) vs RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna (3) U17 Prep

High Level, AB鈥檚 Logan Lanti (1G, 2A) opened the scoring once again for RHA Kelowna, setting the tone for RHA Kelowna early, bleeding into a second goal off the stick of Riley Kennedy. However, SAHA would show some life in the second, balancing the score out with tallies from Grady McLeod and Noah Alexander. Early in the third, RHA Kelowna would bounce back into the lead after Ronin Martin scored just 2:07 in. Rhett Tubello would later double RHA Kelowna鈥檚 lead which would go on to be the game winner as Brennan Finke potted one late for SAHA.听

Prairie Hockey Academy (2) vs BWC Academy (6) U17 Prep

A hat-trick performance from Bruce Zhong (3G) was the difference maker in a BWC Academy victory on Sunday, nabbing two of his three on the powerplay. Aiden Baker (2G, 1A) would also snag a set of goals to further push BWC Academy to the promised land while Jeevin Sandhu (28/30) made 28-stops to turn that win into a reality.听

STAR Hockey Academy (1) vs Delta Hockey Academy White (3) U15 AAA

Jayden Ni (2G) and Mason Olson would split the scoring between Delta White and STAR after twenty minutes of play. Entering the second, Delta White would pull away with the lead after Colby Walker scored the go-ahead goal. Delta White would remain on top for the remainder of the match, shutting down STAR鈥檚 offence bit by bit. Cohen Wood (32/33) made 32-stops in the win, including 11-shots in the third.

RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg (2) vs Shawnigan Lake School (5) Female U18 Prep

RHA Winnipeg responded early after surrendering the game鈥檚 first goal, establishing a 2-1 lead putting Shawnigan Lake in check. However, White Rock, BC鈥檚 Leah Hill would even the match up before the buzzer sounded in the first. From this point on, Shawnigan had seized full control, scoring three unanswered and putting this contest to rest. Grace Cooper (2G, 1A) would lead the offence, picking up two goals while Alix Walchuk (16/18) picked up the win in net.听

South Alberta Hockey Academy (1) vs Delta Hockey Academy Green (6) Female U18 Prep

Gabriella Lee (2G) and Sadie Isfled (2G) each picked up a pair of goals in Delta Green鈥檚 win over South Alberta Hockey Academy. Jillian Matthews (19/20) picked up the win in goal, stopping 19-shots while SAHA鈥檚 Phoenix Buckler (29/35) made 29. Sophie Erlam picked up the lone goal for SAHA in the defeat.

Pacific Coast Hockey Academy (1) vs North Shore Warriors (5) U15 AAA

From puck drop, NSW had full control of this contest, ultimately outshooting PCHA a staggering 59-26. PCHA鈥檚 Shay Van Slyke (54/59) would make a tremendous 54-saves to give his team a chance. As for NSW, Sheldon Nicholas (2G) would score twice while Knox Leeson (1G, 2A) tallied three-points. Benjamin Boudreau (25/26) was in net for the W.

Okanagan Hockey Academy (6/OT) vs Northern Alberta Xtreme (5) U17 Prep

NAX鈥檚 Emmett Jones may have opened the scoring but OHA would rally back over the next two periods to establish a two goal lead early in the third. Bronsyn Moille would quickly get one back for NAX before Nolan Phare (3G, 1A) tied the contest back up. However, Maxx Parfitt (2G, 1A) would restore OHA鈥檚 lead soon after. With time ticking down, Phare would net yet another goal for NAX, completing his hat-trick and forcing an overtime. However, just 33-seconds in, Williams Lake, BC native Marcus Domhof (2G, 1A) would net the game winner, spoiling NAX鈥檚 comeback.

Pacific Coast Hockey Academy (5) vs Edge School (7) U17 Prep

After trading goals back-and-forth through forty minutes, the flood gates would open for both squads in the final frame. PCHA鈥檚 Jack MacMillan would put the Sea Devils ahead early on. However, a chain of four unanswered from Edge would be enough to eventually seal up this high scoring affair. Kyle Oakenfold (2G, 2A) led the way with a pair of goals and assists while Eric Wagman (4A) racked up four assists.听

Northern Alberta Xtreme (0) vs Okanagan Hockey Academy (2) Female U18 Prep

Jorja Moore (16/16) backstopped OHA to not only their third straight win, but their third straight shutout. On the offensive front, Audrian Freeman (2G) picked up the two lone goals in this contest. In net for NAX, Aldawna Evers (55/57) stopped an astounding 55-shots in the hard fought loss.

Wenatchee Wild Hockey Academy (3) vs Indigenous Sports Academy (4) U17 Prep

After splitting the score in the first, ISA would score two unanswered off the sticks of Easton Bauer (1G, 1A) and Trigger Two Guns. Wenatchee鈥檚 Dylan Hadley would scrape one back before the start of the third, which inevitably led to an early tally in the third from Ricky Webb, tying the game up at three. However, Owen Sinclair would reclaim ISA鈥檚 lead right back, with that eventually being the GWG. Holden Fauchon (30/33) would hold on late to score the win between the pipes.

Delta Hockey Academy (1) vs Calgary International Hockey Academy (2) U17 Prep

After a scoreless first, Delta and CIHA would each nab a goal in the second. Jack Morgan would strike first for Delta before being followed up by Xander Ramsay. In the third, the scoring would quiet down till the final seconds, where Zane Rains would break the tie with only 54-seconds left on the clock. Mason Moran (1G, 2A) would go on to supply the empty netter while Ethan Mann (27/28) made 27-saves in the close shave.

Edge School (0) vs RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna (4) Female U18 Prep

Danica Maynard and Callie Rice opened the scoring for RHA Kelowna, scoring less than two minutes apart to establish an early lead. Ava MacLeod and Hayley McDonald would go on to add another pair to ensure the victory while Ava Drabyk (16/16) picked up the shutout.

RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg (1) vs Yale Hockey Academy (6) U17 Prep

In his U17 Prep call-up, Tony Cabelka would score the opening goal for YHA, setting the tone for a first period explosion from the Lions. Yale would be up 5-1 after twenty and ride that lead into the sunset. Mikkel Dennill (1G, 1A) and Gavin Selinger (1G, 1A) led the way with two point efforts while Jason Ho (48/49) picked up the win in goal with an astounding 48-saves. Peyton Thiessen would score the lone goal for RHA Winnipeg.听
