Mahesh Lands AC Role with Abbotsford

Former Banff Hockey Academy and Pilot Mound Hockey Academy (PMHA) coach Harry Mahesh has been named an assistant coach in the American Hockey League (AHL) with the Abbotsford Canucks.

Mahesh spent four years in the 麻豆传媒入口 (CSSHL) in both assistant and head coaching roles. During the 2016/17 season he was with the Banff Hockey Academy (now South Alberta Hockey Academy) as an assistant coach.

The Vanderhoof, BC product would return to the CSSHL in 2018/19 as the PMHA U17 Prep head coach, leading his team to a 19-4-1 record and second place regular season finish. The following campaign Pilot Mound would finish the regular season in first place with a 17-6-1 record, before capturing their first ever CSSHL Western Championship.

During the 2020/21 COVID-19 shortened season Mahesh split duties as the PMHA U17 Prep head coach and assistant coach in the MJHL with the Winkler Flyers.

He would join the Winnipeg Freeze the following season as GM/Head Coach, becoming the first ever General Manager of South Asian descent in Canadian Junior A Hockey.

This past season he worked as a Development Coach for the Toronto Maple Leafs.
