The Edmonton Oil Kings have signed four 麻豆传媒入口 (CSSHL) student-athletes to Western Hockey League (WHL) Standard Player Agreements.
A forward from Lethbridge, AB, Marshall Finnie spent five years in the CSSHL, joining the Edge School U15 Prep team in 2017/18. He would suit up for the Yale Hockey Academy U15 team the following season, scoring a team best 32 goals and 34 assists. In 2019/20 he would recorded 34 points in 36 U16 Prep games with Yale, before tallying 47 points in 35 U18 Prep games over the next two seasons.
Another undrafted WHL product, Landon Hanson joined the Pursuit of Excellence U15 Prep team in 2019/20, tallying 13 points in 30 games. The Grande Prairie, AB forward would join OHA Edmonton for the following U15 Prep season, finishing with two points in three games. This past season Hanson finished with 62 points, including a team best 41 assists, in 36 U16 Prep games with OHA Edmonton.
A teammate of Hanson’s during the 2019/20 season, Ethan MacKenzie was selected in the fourth round, 82nd overall at the 2021 WHL Draft. During the 2020/21 campaign the West Kelowna, BC defenseman had five assists in five U15 Prep games. In 29 U16 Prep games with RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna during the 2021/22 season, MacKenzie recorded 7 goals and 14 assists.
Stettler, AB defenseman Rhys Pederson spent the last two seasons with the Northern Alberta Xtreme (NAX). In four U15 Prep games in 2020/21 Pederson tallied one assist. He would add 28 points in 32 games this past U16 Prep season as he helped NAX capture a U16 Prep League Championship. The Oil Kings selected Pederson in the fifth round, 90th overall at the 2021 WHL Draft.
