PROGRAM PHILOSOPHY AND MISSION STATEMENT
Mission: To build a culture of personal excellence in academics, athletics and character.
Program Philosophy: To develop top quality student-athletes; competing for Edge School, as well as preparing student-athletes for the next level.
EDUCATION
With everything located under one roof, all of our classrooms and teachers are located on the same campus as our rinks and off ice training facility. Combined with our small class sizes and our Mountaineer character鈥揵uilding program, our student-athletes are able to find the balance between academics and athletics while building character.
What are some of the things your program does to provide educational support?
There is constant communication between our coaches, teachers and student-athletes to ensure academic and athletic success. Study hall is a part of the daily schedule when teams are traveling. Teachers also provide online access to course materials for students. Our coaches and teachers are dedicated to ensuring our players are kept on track academically.
How are grades monitored and how often?
All classes, assignments, and grades are all organized and available on Edsby, a digital learning and data platform.
How are courses and the graduation path for student athletes chosen?
As part of our holistic approach to student-athlete development, every Edge student has a Personal Learning Plan (PLP). PLPs are an educational tool designed to provide students with understanding, and ownership of their academic, athletic, and personal goals. At Edge, PLPs are created using myBlueprint, a web-based, interactive educational planning program. The process begins with support from LEAD, with the intent of having students take more ownership of their portfolio as they approach high school graduation.
Do you have an academic probation policy?
Yes. Each student is expected to complete and hand in all in-class and homework assignments in a timely and proficient manner. Students are also responsible for his or her own academic success and is therefore encouraged to seek academic assistance where required. Students may seek such assistance during teacher advisory time periods, independent study time periods or, with the consent of the relevant teacher or school staff member, before or after school hours on school property. Teachers and other school staff members will be available for such academic assistance where appropriate.
RESIDENTIAL LIFE
Do you offer a billeting program or a dormitory for non-local student athletes?
There are no dorms or residences. For out of town students looking for a billeting option, the Canada 麻豆传媒入口stay Network offers a comprehensive, reputable homestay program for students. They have recently begun welcoming Canadian students along with the International students they have served for years.
What kind of life skills to the student athletes learn by living in the dorms or with billets?
Confidence levels, grade point averages, social graces, and work ethic are some of the change鈥檚 student-athletes have shown while living with billet families. The benefit derived from placing the players with billet families is truly immeasurable. Plus, the unique bond families form with their players often last a lifetime.
STUDENT ATHLETE HEALTH
How are injuries and sick student athletes monitored?
Our full-time athletic therapist ensures that Edge students receive the support they need to stay in top shape through education, prevention and rehabilitation. Our fully-equipped sport therapy clinic offers athletic therapy, physiotherapy, and chiropractic services, allowing student-athletes to easily work sessions into their daily schedules.
Our in-house sport psychology consultant provides many services to our students, parents and staff including one-on-one and group/team mental performance support at home and on the road.

How many games can your teams expect to play?

The CSSHL follows a showcase approach, so teams will travel and play 3-5 league games on a weekend. Our teams typically play between 50-65 games over the course of a full season.
What does the on and off ice training look like?
Our student-athletes train for 10 months, from September through June. Off ice, our student-athletes have access to our high performance training facility, the Duckett Performance Centre (DPC) which has earned a global reputation as a premier training centre for high performance athletes.
Located adjacent to Edge鈥檚 gymnasium, the DPC offers teams, groups and individuals alike, state-of-the-art equipment and professional services at a world-class level.
