Located in Abbotsford, BC, Yale Hockey Academy joined the Â鶹´«Ã½Èë¿Ú (CSSHL) in 2013, competing in the U15, U15 Prep, U17 Prep and U18 Prep divisions.

PROGRAM PHILOSOPHY AND MISSION STATEMENT

Yale Hockey Academy will…

Promote academic and athletic excellence. We will develop self-confident Life Champions who are committed to continuous improvement as scholars, athletes, and community leaders. We will coach positive attitudes, sportsmanship, and teamwork. We will teach career planning, skill development, and community citizenship.

Our success will be measured in our students’ growth as “Life Champions”!

  • What are some of the things your program does to provide educational support?
    • Our dedicated team off education assistants, are ready and able to support a diverse group of learners. Students with designated IEP’s are paired with a support teacher who regularly meets to monitor our student athletes progress through their individual education plans. Moreover, our educators are regularly available for remedial support throughout the day. Finally, all staff regularly monitor student athletes’ achievement scores throughout the year.
  • How are grades monitored and how often?
    • Yale Hockey Academy/Yale Secondary Teachers make use of MYEd to post achievement scores and students to monitor.
  • How are courses and the graduation path for student athletes chosen?
    • Our student athletes are fortunate to have a team four course counselors to assist all of them in graduation/course planning.
  • Do you have an academic probation policy?
    • Yes, we follow the policy in the Yale Hockey Academy policy manual (up to two-week probationary period)
    • The Yale Hockey Academy is proud to encourage, support, and train the Student-Athlete. Because the Yale Hockey Academy places a heavy emphasis on academic excellence, it is mandatory for all Yale Hockey Academy students to maintain a B average (73% cumulative) while attending our program. Many of our students have gone on to receive scholarships at the NCAA level or CIS level. The Yale Hockey Academy wishes to maintain a high academic standard.
    • In addition to British Columbia’s graduation program, the Yale Hockey Academy supports those students wishing to obtain hockey scholarships in the USA. ÌýTherefore, our senior students are required to write the SAT. ÌýOur program preps each student desiring to write the SAT through tutorial sessions, and support classes.

    • Through our Head Athletic Kim Hawker.Ìý Ms. Hawker works with the student athletes / families and doctors to ensure a speedy but safe return to play.
