A trio of former Northern Alberta Xtreme (NAX) student-athletes in Ethan Leyer, Ty Whitford and Ty Yoder have committed to the NAIT Ooks for the 2023/24 season.

The trio spent the 2017/18 season in the 麻豆传媒入口 (CSSHL) with the NAX U16 Prep team. That season NAX would go undefeated in the regular season before capturing the 2018 CSSHL U16 Prep Western Championship.

Leyer would finish tenth in league scoring with 49 points in 35 games. The St. Albert, AB forward led all skaters with nine points in five playoff games.

A forward from Strathcona County, AB, Whitford would finish fourth in league scoring with 60 points in 36 games. He would add three points in five playoff games.

Yoder would lead all U16 Prep skaters with 44 goals and 74 points in 34 games while being named the CSSHL U16 Prep MVP. The Tofield, AB forward would add eight points in five playoff games.

A 10th round pick, 204th overall by the Portland Winterhawks at the 2017 Western Hockey League (WHL) Draft, Leyer would join the Bonnyville Pontiacs for the 2018/19 Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) season, finishing with 17 points in 49 games.

Leyer would join the Whitecourt Wolverines for the next two seasons, tallying 54 points in 65 games. This season Leyer played 51 AJHL games with the Spruce Grove Saints, scoring 13 goals and assisting on 24 more.

Whitford would make the jump to the AJHL in 2018/19 with the Drayton Valley Thunder, playing three and a half seasons with the team. He would record 29 goals and 23 assists in 124 games before being joining the Drumheller Dragons during the 2021/22 season. In 95 games with the Dragons Whitford would produce 23 goals and 37 points, including a career high 40 points this season.

Selected in the fifth round, 93rd overall by the Victoria Royals at the 2017 WHL Draft, Yoder would join the team for the 2018/19 season. In parts of four seasons with the Royals Yoder would record 16 points in 116 WHL games. He would join the Okotoks Oilers during the 2021/22 season, finishing his junior career with the team. In 72 AJHL games he would score 29 goals and add 23 assists.

Located in Edmonton, AB, the Ooks play in the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC).

Jaxsen Wyatt has committed to the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) Rebels for the 2022/23 season, joining his brother Cole who spent the 2021/22 season with the program.

Wyatt spent two seasons in the 麻豆传媒入口 (CSSHL) with the Northern Alberta Xtreme (NAX). He would record 14 points in 27 U16 Prep games during the 2016/17 season, before helping the NAX U18 Prep team capture a CSSHL League Championship the following year.

The Sherwood Park, AB defenseman would then join the Spruce Grove Saints for the 2018/19 Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) season. Wyatt would spend three seasons in the AJHL, suiting up for the Saints, Brooks Bandits, Bonnyville Pontiacs, and Calgary Canucks, tallying 36 points in 120 games.

The UNLV Men鈥檚 Hockey program is part of the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) Men鈥檚 Division 1, and member of the Western Collegiate Hockey League (WCHL).

Bonnyville Pontiacs forward Kash Rasmussen has committed to NCAA Division I program Michigan Tech University.

Rasmussen is currently in his fifth Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) season with the Pontiacs after joining the team during the 2016/17 season. He would finish that year with 11 points in 35 games. The Cochrane, AB native is currently serving as the Pontiacs captain, sitting second in team scoring with 49 points in 39 games. In 142 AJHL games, Rasmussen has 102 points.

Prior to his time in the AJHL, Rasmussen spent three seasons in the 麻豆传媒入口 (CSSHL) with Edge School. He joined the program in 2014/15, tallying 4 points in 18 U15 Prep games. In 25 U15 Prep games the following season, he would lead his team with 24 assists and 34 points, leading to the Tri-City Americans selecting him in the fifth round, 95th overall in the 2016 Western Hockey League (WHL) Draft.

During the 2016/17 season Rasmussen would in goals (25), assists (28) and points (53) as Edge School would capture a CSSHL U18 Prep League Championship.

Located in Houghton, Michigan, Michigan Tech University competes in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) conference.

Bonnyville Pontiacs defenseman A.J. Macaulay has signed his National Letter of Intent (NLI) with the University of Alaska-Fairbanks.

Macaulay is in his third season in the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) with his hometown Pontiacs. In 95 AJHL games Macaulay has 45 points, including 21 in 24 games this season.

Prior to joining Bonnyville, Macaulay spent the 2018/19 season in the Canadian Sport school Hockey League (CSSHL) with the Northern Alberta Xtreme (NAX) U18 Prep team. In 30 games he scored five goals and added 20 assists as NAX won the CSSHL League Championship.

The Alaska Nanooks are an Independent NCAA Division I program that represents the University of Alaska Fairbanks.

South Alberta Hockey Academy (SAHA) netminder Bodee Weiss will play for the Bonnyville Pontiacs for the 2021/22 Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) season.

Weiss originally joined the 麻豆传媒入口 (CSSHL) in 2019/20 with the Prairie Hockey Academy U16 Prep team. In 17 games Weiss would record a 0.905 save percentage and 3.75 goals against average (GAA). With the relocation of Banff Hockey Academy to Medicine Hat, AB, Weiss would join SAHA in his hometown of Medicine Hat. In 4 U18 Prep games Weiss would finish with a 0.898 save percentage and 3.10 GAA.

In 69 CSSHL regular season games split between the U15 Prep and U18 Prep levels, Rasmussen had 91 points. He has suited up for the Pontiacs for the last four seasons, recording 53 points in 103 games, including 14 points in 10 games during the 2020/21 campaign.

Two Canadian Sports School Hockey League (CSSHL) alumni have been named as their Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) 2020-21 Top Forward Award Winner.

Kaleb Ergang (Whitecourt Wolverines) and Kash Rasmussen (Bonnyville Pontiacs) have been named their teams Top Forward for the COVID shortened season.

Ergang, who is committed to Ferris State University for the 2021/22 season, spent two years in the CSSHL with the Northern Alberta Xtreme (NAX). In 2015/16 he won a CSSHL U16 Prep League Championship and recorded 23 points in 31 games. The following season he would see his offensive production spike, with 43 points in 28 games. He would make the jump to junior the next season, spending two years with the Okotoks Oilers, before eventually moving on to the Wolverines. This season Ergang finished with 7 points in 12 games, bringing his AJHL totals to 115 points in 165 games.

Four Canadian Sports School Hockey League (CSSHL) alumni have been named as their Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) 2020-21 Top Goaltender Award Winner.

Devin Chapman (Canmore Eagles), Easton Hesse (Bonnyville Pontiacs), Tyler Palmer (Spruce Grove Saints), and Brady Parker (Okotoks Oilers) were all named their respective teams winners this season.

Chapman spent the 2015/16 season with Okanagan Hockey Academy鈥檚 (OHA) U15 team posting a 2.89 goals against average and .903 save percentage in 15 games. In 2019/20 he played 31 games with the Eagles, and would play 1 game with them this season due to the COVID-19 pandemic. He would join the Grande Prairie Storm for the remainder of the season, playing in four games.

Hesse played for OHA Edmonton for one year, spending the 2015/16 season with their U18 Prep team. He would join the Pontiacs for the 2018/19 season and has played 79 regular season and 8 playoff games the past three years. Hesse has a career 1.97 goals against average and a .936 save percentage with the Pontiacs and had an AJHL best .931 save percentage this season. Hesse is committed to Lake Superior State University for the 2021/22 season.

A tenth-round pick by the Spokane Chiefs in the 2018 WHL Bantam Draft, Palmer spent two seasons with the Northern Alberta Xtreme (NAX). In 2018/19 Palmer led NAX to a CSSHL League Championship playing all five playoff games and recording a 2.34 goals against average and .929 save percentage. He played 37 regular season games for NAX, posting a 2.38 goals against average and .916 save percentage at the U18 Prep level.

Parker spent the 2016/17 and 2017/18 seasons with the International Hockey Academy (IHA) U18 Prep team playing in 42 CSSHL games and recording a .921 save percentage in the 2017/18 season. He would then join the AJHL鈥檚 Okotoks Oilers for the 2018/19 season, earning AJHL (South) All-Rookie Team honours. Parker has spent three seasons with the Oilers, posting a .905 save percentage and 2.37 goals against average in 75 games.

Four Canadian Sports School Hockey League (CSSHL) alumni have been named as their Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) 2020-21 Top Defensemen Award Winner.

Cale Ashcroft (Sherwood Park Crusaders), Corson Ceulemans (Brooks Bandits), Cam Chin (Canmore Eagles), and AJ Macaulay (Bonnyville Pontiacs) were named their teams winners this year.

Ashcroft had 11 points in 19 games this season with the Crusaders after spending three seasons with the Northern Alberta Xtreme (NAX). In 93 CSSHL games Ashcroft recorded 43 points, including 15 in 17 games last season at the U16 level. The defenseman who, was recently named the Crusaders Top Rookie, was a fourth-round pick by the Saskatoon Blades in the 2019 WHL Bantam Draft.

Ceulemans is in his second year with the Brooks Bandits having recorded 46 points in 52 games the last two seasons, including 11 in 8 games this year. He was selected in the fifth round of the 2018 WHL Bantam Draft by the Moose Jaw Warriors and won gold with Team Canada at the U18 World Championships at the beginning of May. In 70 games with OHA Edmonton, Ceulemans had 70 points and won a U15 Prep CSSHL League Championship in 2018/19.

After three seasons with BWC Academy Chin joined the Spruce Grove Saints in 2018/19, spending one and a half seasons with the team before moving to the Canmore Eagles near the end of the 2019/20 season. In two games with the Eagles this season Chin had two assists. In 105 CSSHL games Chin had 70 points, including 39 in 39 games played in the 2017/18 season with BWC鈥檚 U18 Prep team.

Macaulay spent just one season in the CSSHL with NAX tallying 33 points in 35 games while winning a CSSHL U18 Prep Championship. He joined the Pontiacs for the 2019/20 season and has recorded 23 points in 69 AJHL games.
