Former CSSHL student-athlete Linden Burrett has signed a WHL Scholarship and Development Agreement with the Calgary Hitmen.

The Surrey, BC defenseman joined BWC Academy for the 2019/20 U15 Prep season, tallying 9 points in 27 games. The following U15 Prep campaign he would record six assists in six games.

In 2021/22 he joined the Delta Hockey Academy U17 Prep team where he finished with 30 points in 31 games. He would add seven points in five playoff games as Delta were crowned 2022 CSSHL U17 Prep Western Champions. The following U18 Prep season Burrett had 26 points in 33 games with Delta.

Burrett was originally selected in the fifth round, 99th overall by the Vancouver Giants at the 2021 WHL Draft.

Fresh off being named to Canada’s National Women’s team for the first time at just 17 years old, hear from Chloe Primerano, the first ever female skater selected at a CHL Draft, on her time in the CSSHL with BWC Academy and RHA Kelowna.

The University of Minnesota freshman represented Team Canada at the 2024 U18 Women鈥檚 World Championships, earning MVP, Best Defender, Tournament Allstar and Leading Scorer honours, setting the record for most points by a defender at one U18 Women鈥檚 Worlds (16) and most points by a Canadian at one U18 Women鈥檚 Worlds. This summer she was named to the Canada Women鈥檚 U18 team that competed against the United States for a three-games series from August 14-17, 2024.

Primerano became the the first female-skater ever selected in a CHL Draft when the Vancouver Giants selected her in the 13th round, 268th overall at the 2022 WHL Draft. In just two seasons in the Female U18 Prep division with RHA Kelowna the North Vancouver, BC defender graduated from the CSSHL as the most successful student-athlete in women鈥檚 history. Her 105 career assists are most all time among Female U18 Prep skaters while her 164 career points rank 1 back of the all-time record. Her 59 career goals are fourth most all-time, and most among defensemen, giving her the all-time career lead among defensemen in assists (105), goals (59) and points (164). This past season Primerano set the Female U18 Prep single season record, among all skaters, with 35 goals, 54 assists and 89 points in just 29 games to earn her second straight CSSHL Female U18 Prep MVP Award.

In 10 NCAA games this season Primerano has 1 goal and 5 assists.

12 former 麻豆传媒入口 (CSSHL) student-athletes have been selected to represent Team Canada at the 2024 U17 World Challenge.

The tournament, which is set to take place November 3-9 at Progressive Auto Sales Arena in Sarnia, ON, will see 44 players represent Team Canada White and Team Canada Red.

Among the 44 players selected are 15 from the WHL, 12 of which played in the CSSHL including 2023 and 2024 WHL Draft first overall picks Daxon Rudolph and Landon DuPont. After joining fellow CSSHL alumnus Connor Bedard as the only two players in WHL History to receive Exceptional Status, DuPont is the lone 2009 born player on the Team Canada rosters.

The 12 CSSHL alumni represent six different CSSHL member programs: Okanagan Hockey Academy (3), RHA Kelowna (3), Edge School (2), Northern Alberta Xtreme (2), Delta Hockey Academy, and Pilot Mound Hockey Academy.

This will be the second time Lin, Preston, L. Ruck, M. Ruck, Rudolph, and Verhoeff represent Team Canada, having previously done so at the 2024 Youth Olympics.

The 2024 U17 World Challenge kicks off on November 3, with Canada White taking on Czechia at 3:30 p.m. ET and Canada Red facing off against Finland at 7:30 p.m. ET. Teams will play two preliminary-round games before the medal round, which concludes on Nov. 9 with the medal games, as well as the fifth-place game. The event will also feature pre-tournament games in Sarnia, Petrolia and Forest on November 1.

The 2023 U17 World Challenge saw 13 CSSHL alumni compete for Team Canada Red and White.聽

Former CSSHL and current Vancouver Giants forward Cameron Schmidt has been named the September CSSHL WHL Alumni Player of the Month.

In the month of September Schmidt recorded a WHL best 6 goals in 3 games, while his 7 points have him ranked second in league scoring.

The Prince George, BC forward joined RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna for the 2021/22 U15 Prep season where he recorded 25 goals and 16 assists in 13 games. At the end of the season the Giants would select Schmidt in the first round, seventh overall at the 2022 WHL Draft.

During the 2022/23 U18 Prep season Schmidt would play 14 games, finishing with 13 goals and 8 assists with RHA Kelowna.

Schmidt would join the Giants for the 2023/24 WHL season, tallying 31 goals and 27 assists in his rookie campaign. He would also represent Team Canada White at the U17 World Hockey Challenge, scoring 5 goals in 8 games including the overtime winner to land Team Canada a Gold medal. Schmidt was also a part of the 2024 Team Canada that captured Gold at the Hlinka Gretzky Cup where he finished with 3 goals and 1 assist in 5 games.

The Vancouver Giants have signed Delta Hockey Academy student-athlete Dylan Hurren to a WHL Scholarship and Development Agreement.

Hurren joined Delta for the 2022/23 U15 AAA season, tallying 22 points in 25 games. The following U15 Prep season the Maple Ridge, BC defender had 25 points in 27 games with Delta Green. At the conclusion of the season the Giants selected Hurren in the fourth round, 70th overall at the 2024 WHL Draft.

This season Hurren has 1 point in 2 U17 Prep games with Delta.

Former CSSHL student-athlete Wyatt Wilson has signed in the ECHL with the Orlando Solar Bears.

Wilson joined Yale Hockey Academy for the 2017/18 U15 Prep season finishing with 9 points in 25 games. At the conclusion of the season the Lethbridge Hurricanes would select the Swift Current, SK defender in the sixth round, 116th overall at the 2018 WHL Draft.聽The following U16 Prep season Wilson had 6 goals and 17 assists in 36 games with Yale.

In 2021/22 Wilson joined the Victoria Royals, recording 13 points in 59 games over parts of two WHL seasons. He would finish the 2022/23 season with the Winnipeg Ice, adding 5 assists in 16 games.

This past WHL campaign Wilson had 1 goal and 5 assists in 53 games with the Vancouver Giants.

The Vancouver Canucks have promoted former 麻豆传媒入口 (CSSHL) coach Yogi Svejkovsky to assistant coach ahead of the 2024/25 season.

Svejkovskyoined the Canucks organization in 2021/22 as a Skills Coach with their American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Abbotsford Canucks. He would spend the 2022/23 and 2023/24 season as a Skills Coach with the Canucks.

A veteran of 113 NHL games and 70 in the AHL, Svejkovsky joined Delta Hockey Academy as head coach in 2015/16 at the U15 Prep level. He would spend the 2016/17 season with the Delta Elite 15s (U16 Prep) as head coach before joining St. George’s for two seasons as a head coach and Head of Hockey Operations.

Svejkovsky would return to Delta in 2019/20 as their Lead Skills Coach & Director of Development as well as coaching their U17 Prep travel team. He would retain the same roles in 2020/21. After joining the Canucks in 2021/22, Svejkovsky has spent the past three seasons as a Guest Skills Coach with Delta.

Svejkovsky started his coaching career in 2006/07 as an assistant coach with the Vancouver Giants in the Western Hockey League (WHL). He would transition into a skills coach for two seasons with the Giants, the last of which was his first year at Delta.

Northern Alberta Xtreme (NAX) student-athletes Blake Chorney, Ben Harvey, Jaggar John and Reid Soper have signed Western Hockey League (WHL) Scholarship and Development Agreements with their respective WHL teams after being selected at the 2024 WHL Prospects Draft.

All four players helped NAX capture their second straight CSSHL U15 Prep Western Championship, with Harvey winning in both 2023 and 2024. John and Soper were both part of the NAX team that captured the 2023 CSSHL U15 Western Championship.

A forward from Nipawin, SK, the Vancouver Giants selected Chorney in the first round, 10th overall. In his first season in the CSSHL, Chorney finished second on NAX in goals (19), assists (23) and points (42) in 24 games. He added 12 points in 5 playoff games, second most among all skaters.

After producing 29 points in 30 games during the 2022/23 U15 Prep season with NAX, Harvey finished this season fourth in league scoring with 52 points. His 52 points and 33 assists were a team high, leading to the Prince Albert Raiders selecting the Edmonton, AB forward fourth overall. Harvey finished third in playoff scoring with 11 points. Prince Albert selected NAX U18 Prep student-athletes Daxon Rudolph and Riley Boychuk with the first two picks in the 2023 WHL Prospects Draft.

Having no first or second round picks, the Saskatoon Blades made John their first selection when they took him in the third round, 61st overall. The Fort McMurray, AB forward led NAX with 20 goals while finishing third with 38 points. He would take a giant leap forward in the playoffs, setting the single U15 Prep post-season record with 19 points in 5 games, including scoring the overtime winner in the Western Championships Final. This was the second straight year John led the playoffs in scoring as he produced 13 points in 5 games last season.

A 6’2 defenseman from Edmonton, AB, the Lethbridge Hurricanes selected Soper in the second round, 32nd overall. Soper tallied 10 points in 25 regular season games before adding 2 points in 5 playoff games. During the 2022/23 season Soper produced 20 points in 27 regular season games and an additional point in four playoff games.

CSSHL student-athletes Aden Bouchard, Brock Cripps, and Torretto Marrelli have signed WHL Scholarship and Development Agreements with their respective WHL teams.

A defenseman from Airdrie, AB, Bouchard joined Edge School for the 2023/24 U15 Prep season. In 27 games he would tally 9 goals and 27 assists for 36 points, all a season high among Edge defensemen. A finalist for the U15 Prep Top Defenseman Award and a First Team All-Star (Prairie Division), Bouchard has signed with the Tri-City Americans after they selected him 3rd overall at the 2024 WHL Prospects Draft.

2023/24 was a record setting season for Cripps as he set the single season U15 Prep record for goals (25) and points (70) by a defensemen. In his two seasons U15 Prep season with St. George’s School he amassed 108 points in 52 career games, best among defenseman and sixth all-time among all skaters. This season Cripps lead all skaters with 70 points and was named a First Team All-Star (B.C. Division), Top Defenseman and MVP.聽 Cripps has signed with the Prince Albert Raiders after they selected him 2nd overall at the 2024 WHL Prospects Draft.

After going undrafted at the 2022 WHL Prospects Draft, Marrelli has signed with the Vancouver Giants. The Devon, AB forward joined the Northern Alberta Xtreme (NAX) for the 2021/22 U15 Prep season, finishing with 18 points in 30 games. The following U17 Prep season he would record 15 goals and 34 assists in 34 games. He would add four points in four playoff games as NAX captured the 2023 CSSHL U17 Prep Western Championship. This season Marrelli finished fourth on the NAX U18 Prep team with 46 points in 29 games.

Former CSSHL student-athlete Tanner Brown has signed a contract in the ECHL with the Florida Everblades.

Brown spent two seasons in the CSSHL, joining Pursuit of Excellence (POE) for the 2016/17 U15 Prep season. In 26 games the Kelowna, BC defenseman would record 29 points. He would add four assists in four playoff games as POE captured the 2017 CSSHL U15 Prep Western Championship.

At the conclusion of the season the Vancouver Giants would select Brown in the second round, 24th overall at the 2017 Western Hockey League (WHL) Draft.

In 2018/19 Brown would suit-up for the Delta Hockey Academy U18 Prep team, tallying 21 points in 29 games. Having already played 14 games the last two seasons for the Giants as an affiliate player, Brown would join the team full time in 2019/20. He would spend two and a half seasons with the Giants, tallying 26 points in 113 games.

After beginning the 2021/22 season in Vancouver, Brown would join the Winnipeg Ice for the remainder of the season, recording 12 points in 33 games. He would begin the 2022/23 season with the Red Deer Rebels where he would produce six assists in five games. He would finish his junior career with the Regina Pats, scoring 4 goals and adding 23 assists in 58 games.
