For the second time in program history Edge School has captured a 麻豆传媒入口 (CSSHL) U15 Division I Western Championship.
The Calgary, AB squad did so with a 6-2 win over the defending back-to-back Northern Alberta Xtreme (Devon, AB). Edge’s previous U15 Division I Western Championship came in 2022 before NAX won in 2023 and 2024.
After finishing first during the regular season with a CSSHL record 101 points, Edge finished first in Pool A during the round robin before defeating Calgary International Hockey Academy (Calgary, AB) in the quarter-finals and Delta Hockey Academy Black (Delta, BC) in the semi-fnals.
NAX finished fourth in the regular season and second in Pool A in the round robin before defeating the North Shore Warriors (North Vancouver, BC) in the quarter-finals. A dramatic 1-0 win in the semi-finals over BWC Academy (Burnaby, BC) propelled NAX into a finals match against their provincial rival.
In the finals, it was NAX who grabbed an early 1-0 lead as Jett Evans scored his third of the Championships 4:50 into the game. After scoring 50 goals during the regular season, Brody Antignani (3G) scored twice in 34 seconds to give Edge a 2-1 lead heading into the intermission.
Edge would take over in the second as captain Charlie Near scored five-hole from a sharp angle and Antignani completed the hat-trick for his 10th of the Championships. Charlie Usher (1G, 1A) would add a power play goal 1:06 into the third as the Edge lead grew to 5-1.
NAX defenseman Lincoln Baschuk would give his team life with a goal 2:47 later, cutting the deficit to three. NAX would make a late push that saw a couple power play attempts but Caden Stanley (26/28) stood tall making 26 saves. Kyden Bartole put the game to bed with 7:53 remaining, scoring his second of the Championships, to secure the 6-2 Edge win.
