Five current 麻豆传媒入口 (CSSHL) student-athletes won gold with Team Canada at the 2023 IIHF U18 Women’s World Championship:
- Jordan Baxter – Delta Hockey Academy
- Gracie Graham – RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna
- Morgan Jackson – Shawnigan Lake School
- Maya Serdachny – RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna
- Farah Walker – Okanagan Hockey Academy
Baxter was one of seven returning players from last years gold medal team. In five games the Coquitlam, BC forward recorded two assists. In 16 CSSHL games with Delta this season she has a team high 18 goals and 30 points.
A defenseman from Kelowna, BC, Graham finished with one goal and two assists in the five games. In 16 CSSHL games this season she has 5 goals and 11 assists.
From Courtney, BC, Jackson leads Shawnigan Lake in points per game this season, having tallied 33 in 14 CSSHL games. She would finish the Women’s World Championship with a plus two rating in five games.
A teammate of Graham with RHA Kelowna, Serdachny has 18 points in 16 CSSHL games this season. The Edmonton, AB defenseman was plus three in five games for Canada.
Walker who is in her first season with OHA, has played in six CSSHL games. The Airdrie, AB netminder has a 2.87 GAA and .921 SV%.
The tournament took place January 8-15, 2023 in Ostersund, Sweden. Canada opened the tournament with an 8-0 win over Finland, last years bronze medal winner. They would beat Sweden 4-2 and the U.S.A. 3-1 to close out the round robin, finishing first in their pool.
After a bye straight to the semi-finals, Canada would beat Finland 3-2 in overtime, setting up a re-match with Sweden in the gold medal game.听 Canada would make easy work of Sweden in the finals, defeating them 10-0.
Canada won gold at the 2022 IIHF U18 Women’s World Championship, defeating their rivals, the USA.
