GAME DAY RECAP: December 10, 2023

St. George’s School (2) vs OHA Edmonton (4) U15

Cohenn Rotar (2G) got the ball rolling for OHA Edmonton, chipping in an early goal that would ignite a chain of four unanswered goals. Taylor Green (33/35) made 24-saves through the first two periods, keeping his academy on top while St. George鈥檚 continued to press hard. Michael Taylor and Logan Okamura would get St. George鈥檚 on the board, but it was too little too late.

St. George’s School (3/OT) vs Delta Hockey Academy Green (2) U15 Prep

St. George鈥檚 would open the scoring in the second period with tallies from Eddy Spytz and Brock Cripps (2G). Alexander Laing would score late in the period for his 15th of the season. Momentum would sway back-and-forth in the third, eventually leading to Delta鈥檚 tying goal off the stick of Bryson Roberts. Overtime would be necessary and it would only take Cripps 38-seconds to take it end-to-end for a wicked GWG.听

Wenatchee Wild Hockey Academy (3) vs Pilot Mound Hockey Academy (4) U18 Prep

Griffin Erickson opened the scoring for Pilot Mound halfway through the first but Wenatchee鈥檚 Sheldon Wilson would bring things back to even 44-seconds later. Gabe Eckdahl would add another one late in the first to put Wenatchee ahead by one. That lead would grow early in the second thanks to a powerplay goal from Max Workman (1G, 1A). Pilot Mound would claw one back in the second before rushing ahead in the third period after Sanjay Chalupiak (2G, 1A) scored his first two goals of the season, including the game winner with 1:03 left on the clock.

North Shore Warriors (4) vs RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna (5/OT) U18 Prep

Shane Purves opened the games scoring with his 20th goal of the season to put NSW ahead early before RHA Kelowna struck back with a quick pair to take the lead. However, Matteo Paradiso (1G, 2A) would tie things up 11-seconds after RHA Kelowna took said lead. Things would pick up once again in the third after Cage Smith and Cruz Waltze put RHA Kelowna back in front by two with another quick pair. However, Arsiyan Van de Brande (1G, 1A) and Levi McLeod would force an overtime with yet another pair of goals. In overtime, Callum Stone would score his second overtime winner of the season to get his team back on track after falling in their last two games.

Delta Hockey Academy (0) vs Northern Alberta Xtreme (13) U15

NAX鈥檚 first line of Ahmad Fayad (2G, 2A), Easton Doran (2G, 3A) and Easton Arndt (3G) combined for 12-points. Kaysun Brunham (3G) also chipped in a hat-trick while Corbin Dunphy (5A) provided five helpers. Dawson Sheehan (14/14) steered away all 14-shots for his second consecutive shutout, bringing him up to four on the season while possessing a 8-0-0 record.听

Wenatchee Wild Hockey Academy (0) vs BWC Academy Gold (4) U17 Prep

Korbin Rodel (18/18) made 18 saves to earn his first shutout of the season in a 4-0 BWC Academy Gold victory. Gianni Bosa (2G, 1A) provided all the offence BWC Academy Gold would need just 28 seconds into the game. Hunter Henry added a first period goal while Bosa and William Ren scored in the second.听

Delta Hockey Academy Black (3) vs Okanagan Hockey Academy Black (4/SO) Female U18 Prep

Gracie Bagnall-Dubras and Gabriella Lee (1G, 1A) scored 4:22 apart as Delta Black led 2-0 after 20. OHA Black countered in the second as Alexandra Soon and Christina Terzariol scored in a span of 27 seconds. Mia Lesko restored the Delta Black lead 3:01 into the third but Samera Gabriel (1G, 1A) answered for OHA Black. After OT solved nothing, Soon was the only skater to beat Sonja Reed (25/28) and Ryann Faulkner (39/42) stopped all three Delta Black shooters to give OHA Black a 4-3 SO win.听

RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna (12) vs North Shore Warriors (0) Female U18 Prep

RHA Kelowna (15-0-0) stayed unbeaten on the season with a 12-0 win over North Shore Sunday. Defenseman Makayla Watson (3G, 4A) recorded a hat-trick and led all RHA Kelowna skaters with seven points. Kennedy Sisson (2G) and Raedyn Spademan (2G) each scored twice in the win. Farah Walker (9/9) needed to make just nine saves for the shutout. Amy McLeod (82/90) was peppered with 92 shots in net for North Shore.听

BWC Academy (2) vs Edge School (3) U15

Ryan Frick gave BWC Academy a 1-0 lead with his ninth goal of the season. Luke Huska (1G, 2A) and Ellis Martschuk erased the deficit with early second period goals. Nolen Miller scored the eventual game winning goal 2:49 into the third period. Nicholas Voinea brought BWC Academy back within one but Delano Pockar (16/18) made 16 saves to secure an Edge win. Tyce Kinsey (58/61) faced 61 shots in net for BWC Academy.听

BWC Academy White (2) vs Delta Hockey Academy Black (3) U17 Prep

After a scoreless first Kayden Halladay (1G, 1A) opened the scoring 29 seconds into the second. Gabriel Kaminski tied the game 5:31 later with his 17th goal of the season. Nicholas Campbell (2G) restored the Delta Black lead but Nic Collins countered 2:03 later with a power play goal. Campbell would score the eventual game winning goal with 12:22 left to play. Jake Poblete (43/45) made 43 saves to earn the win, outdueling Jeevin Sandhu (23/26).听

BWC Academy (5) vs Calgary International Hockey Academy (1) U18 Prep

A power play goal by William Shepard (2G, 1A) gave BWC Academy a first period lead. He would score again 4:48 into the second period. Jaxen Adam would get CIHA on the board 2:10 later. But BWC Academy controlled the rest of the game with Tevor Oishi, Daniel Morozov (1G, 1A) and Colton Gerrior finding the back of the net en route to a 5-1 win.听

North Shore Warriors (9) vs Notre Dame (2) U15

Despite being outshot 49-38, North Shore outscored Notre Dame 9-2 Sunday. James Koch (1G, 1A) got the party started just 21 seconds in as North Shore scored 6 in the first with Conor Nicolson (4G, 2A) recording a hat-trick, and Max Joseph (1G, 2A) and Kenzo Gibson (1G, 3A) adding goals. Nicolson would score again in the second while teammates Alexander Brent (1G, 1A) and Rayman Sall found the back of the net to give North Shore a commanding 9-0 lead. Eben Newman would finally break through for Notre Dame, beating Ashton Sims (47/49) with 1:04 left in the second. Rylan Struch (1G, 1A) added a consolation goal for Notre Dame 1:33 into the third.听

Notre Dame Red (1) vs OHA Edmonton Black (7) U17 Prep

A Callum Giese (3G) hat-trick was the difference maker in a 7-1 victory over Notre Dame Red. Braydon Franks (5A) chipped in with five-assists on the afternoon while Brody Nest (2G, 3A) posted a five-point performance as well, bringing the Cold Lake, AB native up to 13-points on the season. Oscar Hanzen (18/19) turned away 18-shots, shutting down Notre Dame Red for the final 43-minutes of the game after surrendering one to Carson Hiebert in the first.

St. George’s School (2) vs Prairie Hockey Academy (1) U18 Prep

Hunter Morgan opened the scoring 6:14 into the first to give St. George鈥檚 an early lead. Amadeo Sim would add to that lead with 1:59 left in the second. Daniel Helary broke the Eric Tu (31/32) shutout bid with 2:39 remaining in the game but St. George鈥檚 held on for a 2-1 win.听

Okanagan Hockey Academy (0) vs Delta Hockey Academy Green (7) Female U18 Prep

Delta Green erupted for a four goal first period as Audrey Church (3G, 1A), Molly Cole, and Ellie Chou (2G) all found the back of the net. After a scoreless second, Church completed the hat-trick, Karington Mollin (1G, 3A) scored her ninth of the season, and Chou scored her second of the game as Delta Green defeated OHA 7-0. Maisie Cope (27/27) made 27 saves for her third shutout of the season. Jorja Moore (39/46) faced 46 shots in the loss.听

RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna (5) vs Yale Hockey Academy (6/SO) U15

Clark Galos opened the scoring for Yale eight minutes in. Alexander Sharman (2G, 1A) replied for RHA Kelowna three minutes later. Goals from Michael Kuzik (2G) and Tanner Massey gave Yale a 3-1 lead heading into the third. Zander Zorn scored a power play goal to bring RHA Kelowna within one but Maxx Trites (1G, 1A) countered for Yale just 14 seconds later. Oliver Peck brought the game back within one before Kuzik and Carter Bacon (1G, 1A) traded late third period tallies. Sharman scored the lone third period goal to tie the game and force OT, where the two teams played five minutes of scoreless hockey. Christopher Kokkoris scored in the fourth round of the shootout to give Yale a 6-5 win.听

Pacific Coast Hockey Academy (1) vs Edge School (6) U18 Prep

Ladon Dupont (3G) scored the lone first period goal as Edge led 1-0 after 20. Brayden Schwartz and DuPont extended the lead with early second period goals. Rowan Guest scored his fifth of the season to get PCHA on the board. Leim Smith added to the lead before DuPont and Zach Olsen scored power play goals to secure an Edge 6-1 win. Ryley Budd (21/22) made 21 saves in net for the win while Chayse Johnson (40/46) faced 46 shots in net for PCHA. Owen Cooper (2A), Nate Crashley (2A) and Logan Murray (2A) all had two assists in the win.听

Yale Hockey Academy (4) vs RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg (1) U18 Prep

After a scoreless first, Hunter Aura opened the scoring 3:16 into the second. Rhett McAuley countered for RHA Winnipeg but Tommy Lafreniere (2G) scored the go-ahead goal 34 seconds later. He would add his 13th of the season five minutes later as Yale led 3-1 after 40. Noah Marshall (1G, 1A) scored the lone third period goal to give Yale a 4-1 victory. Nathan Kam (25/26) and Chase Furlong (37/41) were in net for their respective teams. Adam M鈥橦amed (2A) and Grant Reid (2A) each had two assists in the win.听

Okanagan Hockey Academy Black (2) vs Rink Hockey Academy Kelowna Red (3) U17 Prep

OHA Black grabbed a 1-0 lead on Maxx Parfitt鈥檚 seventh goal of the season. Rylan Saunders would tie the game seven minutes later. Nate Macphee (2G) scored twice in the second, including a power play goal, as RHA Kelowna Red grabbed a 3-1 lead heading into the third. Marcus Domhof gave OHA Black late life with his 11th goal of the season but they were unable to beat Levi Hollatz (19/21) to find the tying goal. Kaleb Miller (18/21) made 18 saves in the OHA Black net.听

Delta Hockey Academy Green (4) vs Yale Hockey Academy (5/OT) U17 Prep

Dalton Toma opened the scoring on the power play with 52 seconds remaining in the first period. Each time would score twice in the second with Jacob Dumansky and Gus Schill finding the back of the net for Yale, and Milan Mrsic (1G, 1A) and Max Malinousky (2G, 2A) countering for Delta Green. Kyounghun Oh tied the game midway through the third and Aidan Ansell gave Yale their first lead minutes later. Malinousky would force OT with a power play goal. Axel Anderson (1G, 3A) would be the hero for Yale, scoring 1:49 into the extra period. Jason Ho (23/27) and Greyson Moroz (49/54) were in net for their respective teams. Nathaniel Danielson (4A) assisted on all four Delta Green goals.听

Coeur d鈥橝lene Hockey Academy (2) vs Notre Dame (4) U18 Prep

Caleb Livingston and Jacob Caron traded goals to start the first period. Talon Langston, Brodyn Pladson, and Matt O鈥橳oole (1G, 2A) scored in a span of 4:02 in the second as Notre Dame grabbed a 4-1 lead heading into the third. Royce Butler (1G, 1A) scored his seventh goal of the season to bring CDA within two but Ben Chornomydz (45/47) made an impressive 45 saves to stop CDA from finding an equaliser. Zane Hill (21/25) was charged with the loss.听

Okanagan Hockey Academy (1) vs Northern Alberta Xtreme (5) U18 Prep

Luke Powell scored his 14th of the season to give NAX a 1-0 lead. Riley Boychuk (2G, 1A) extended the advantage just 13 seconds into the middle frame. Charlie Grant scored a power play goal 10:01 into the second to get OHA on the board. Jordan Duguay (1G, 2A) restored the NAX two goal cushion heading into the third. Prince Albert Raiders prospects Boychuk and Daxon Rudolph (1G, 1A) each scored to close out the third period, and secure an NAX 5-1 win. Jordan Switzer (30/31) made 30 saves to earn the win. Ryan Tamelin (35/40) faced 40 NAX shots in the loss.听

Shawnigan Lake School (3) vs South Alberta Hockey Academy (4/OT) U18 Prep

After a scoreless first Matthew Jackson opened the scoring with a power play goal for Shawnigan Lake. SAHA countered with two goals in less than two minutes as Brayden Ryan-Mackay (2G, 2A) and Carter Cunningham (1G, 2A) each scored. Ryan Mackay extended the SAHA lead early in the third but Brendyn Van Oene (1G, 1A) and Eli McKamey (1G, 1A) rallied for Shawnigan to force overtime. In OT Trip Jensen scored with 40 seconds left to give SAHA the victory. Marek Schlenker (43/46) and Mathis Perron (34/38) were the goalies on record in the game.听

Delta Hockey Academy (2) vs OHA Edmonton (5) U18 Prep

Hunter Yanick (2G, 1A) gave OHA Edmonton the initial lead but it was short lived as Damian Kravcak responded 2:07 later and Jackson DeGraves scored the go ahead goal with 1:57 left in the first. Yanick would score the lone second period goal to tie the game heading into the third. Dylan Konschuh (2G) scored back-to-back goals and Kayden Lemire added an empty netter as OHA Edmonton scored three times in the third for a 5-2 win. Kohen McEllistrum (37/39) was credited with the win.
