Malinousky tried to will his team back into the game, completing the hat-trick in the third, but goals from Wytrychowski and Sawyer Samycia secured an Edge Maroon victory.Ìý

Coeur d’Alene Hockey Academy Navy (3) vs Notre Dame Red (4) U17 Prep

Goals from Louis Dubray-Regnier and Brodyn Pladson (1G, 2A) gave Notre Dame Red a 2-0 first period lead. Owen Bambrick (2G) scored 5:40 into the second to get CDA Navy on the board. A power play goal from Ben Bugeaud (1G, 1A) minutes later restored the two goal cushion. Bambrick scored his second goal of the game 8:40 into the third to reach double digit goals on the season. Adam Pflugrath-Davis (1G, 1A) scored his first of the season four minutes later to tie the game as CDA Navy looked to get their first win. OHA Edmonton (3) vs Rink Hockey Academy Kelowna Black (10) U17 Prep

This match began as a close affair with goals being scored back and forth through forty minutes with RHA Kelowna Black having the edge by one. However, the third was a different beast. RHA Kelowna Black would explode for seven unanswered in the final frame, with their fair share of highlight reel passing plays. Riley Pederson (2G) was a benefactor of two of these plays while Benjamin Bowtell (2G, 1A) cleaned up another one as well. Louis Gu (26/29) remained diligent in the third, helping close out RHA Kelowna Black’s first win of their weekend in Winnipeg.Ìý

Pacific Coast Hockey Academy (4) vs RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna (9) U18 Prep

Cage Smith (1G, 2A) would pry open the scoring for RHA Kelowna just 1:45 into the match but would quickly be followed up by PCHA’s leading scorer, Noah Kosick (1G, 2A) on a bang-bang play down low. PCHA would eventually crawl into the lead later in the frame but Brody Gillespie (2G, 1A) would tie things up before the clock ran out. Gillespie would then open the scoring in the second with a snipe on the powerplay, inevitably opening the floodgates for RHA Kelowna’s offence to take reign. RHA Kelowna would leave the second up by four and would extend that lead to six in the third frame. PCHA would add another two late but it wasn’t enough to tear down what RHA Kelowna had already established.Ìý

Okanagan Hockey Academy Black (0) vs North Shore Warriors (3) Female U18 Prep

North Shore got to work early on the man-advantage where Kaida Okamura (2G) would tap in her first of her CSSHL career. With NSW’s strong offensive pressure throughout this contest, Okamura’s goal would go on to be the game winning goal. Okamura would also add the insurance marker part way through the third while Hyoseo Cheon (8/8) turned all 8-shots aside for her third shutout of the campaign.

Bourget College U18 (8) vs Mount Academy U18 (4) Eastern U18

Bourget College’s top line went out for lunch against Mount Academy in this offensive thriller. Team captain and division leading scorer, Marc-Antoine Riopel (4G, 2A) posted a six-point performance, putting away the game winning goal in the process as well. Antoine Demers (1G, 3A) and Mathys Blanchette (2G, 3A) were also two huge contributors in this staggering win over the PEI-based academy.Ìý

Edge School Gold (3/OT) vs BWC Academy Gold (2) U17 Prep

Jonathan Lee would open the scoring for BWC Academy Gold off of a great give-and-go play with Thunderbirds prospect Colton Gerrior, while Jaiven Mann’s efforts paid off down low to increase their lead to two. However, Edge Gold would press hard in the second. Hudson Getzlaf got the ball rolling with a grimy goal down low, while Ethan Elefante clapped home a cross-crease pass from Dallin Antos. A winner wasn’t found after 60-minutes resulting in overtime. All but halfway through the extra frame, David Byrne would spot a streaking Ryan Boyce, making a crisp 100ft pass to feed his forward on to the breakaway where he would make no mistake, burying his seventh of the season to give Edge Gold the important win to ignite their weekend.

BWC Academy White (6) vs Okanagan Hockey Academy Black (2) U17 Prep

Despite being outshot in this competition, BWC Academy White pulled away with the victory thanks to their efficiency on special teams, going 3/3 on the powerplay and 4/4 on the penalty kill. Nic Collins (2G, 2A) would lead the offensive charge for BWC Academy White while Jeevin Sandhu (31/33) stood on his head to keep his team alive in their own end.Ìý

Coeur d’Alene Hockey Academy (2) vs OHA Edmonton (5) U18 Prep

After surrendering the game’s first two goals to CDA Academy, OHA Edmonton would strike back with vengeance. It started with a late powerplay tally from Nolan Schmidt to cut the lead in half before the end of the period. The real damage would occur in the second. Kayden Lemire would eventually tie the match up off of a sweet pass from Renat Nagneev, while Max Stanton would put away the eventual game winner just four minutes later. Corbin Sanderman (36/38) would backstop his team to victory in the third, stopping all 18-shots from CDA to secure the comeback.

Pacific Coast Hockey Academy White (1) vs OHA Edmonton Black (3) U17 Prep

Brody Nest would open the scoring for OHA Edmonton Black before PCHA White’s Markus Nichols evened things up just before the halfway point of the first. Later in the frame, Braydon Franks (1G, 1A) would snatch the puck from an unaware defender, sending himself on to a breakaway where he’d make no mistake, putting his academy up by one before the end of the period. This was Franks’ second attempt 1-on-1 with Parker Parrish (33/35) as they had met prior on a penalty shot where Parrish had stopped him dead in his tracks. Parrish would go on to face another penalty shot in the second period, which he would also deny to give his team a fighting chance in this contest. Despite turning aside every OHA Edmonton Black shot in the final forty minutes, Parrish’s teammates could not find the back of the net on the other end of the ice. Calum Giese (1G, 2A) would eventually put the icing on the cake for OHA Edmonton Black, sealing the contest with an empty netter.ÌýÌý

Rink Hockey Academy Kelowna Red (2) vs Pilot Mound Hockey Academy (6) U17 Prep

PG Cougars prospect, Carson Carels (3G, 1A), put on arguably his best offensive performance of the season, tallying his first career CSSHL hat-trick and putting Pilot Mound back in the win column. Zane Price (1G, 1A) would put home the eventual game winner halfway through the second, but Carels prowess on the powerplay was able to put this game to bed. Kyle Beilman (33/35) also played an important role, stopping 33-shots in the match, including all 18 he faced in the second period.Ìý

Winnipeg Wild (1) vs North Shore Warriors (0) U17 Prep

NSW had a difficult time firing on shots through the first forty minutes against the Winnipeg Wild, scraping up only 5-shots in that timeframe. During NSW’s offensive woes, David Payne (28/29) was being tested by Winnipeg’s offence routinely. The ice was finally broken early in the second, Winnipeg’s Luke Marykuca would score the opening goal just 39-seconds into play. This would go on to be the lone goal in this contest. NSW would sway momentum in their favour for the third, but failed to muster anything past Nolan Giles (16/16) who would go on to make 16-saves for the shutout.Ìý

Yale Hockey Academy (9/SO) vs Northern Alberta Xtreme (8) U18 Prep

Yale and NAX squared off in what will be recalled as one of the most fiery offensive duels we’ll see all season. Yale hopped on the gas early, collecting the game’s opening two tallies off the sticks of Noah Marshall and Adam M’Hamed (1G, 1A). NAX would fire back with three before the first came to a close with two of those coming from Devon, AB’s Toretto Marrelli (2G). Reis Nyland (2G, 1A) added to NAX’s total with another two in the second. However, Yale’s powerplay wasn’t missing a beat, striking twice to erase any advantage NAX would’ve created. Late in the period, Brek Liske (1G, 2A) would set the tone for the third, wiring home his ninth on the year to give NAX some momentum for the third. Yale would press hard in the final frame, snatching back one early with a deflection in close from Logan Flint (1G, 1A). However, NAX would once again respond with another two tallies of their own, replenishing their lead. Yale’s top guns wouldn’t let this game get out of reach. Lucas Biros would kickstart the late comeback while Tommy Lafreniere (3G, 3A) capped off a sensational night, clawing back two late to eventually tie this match and grant him the hat–trick. Overtime wouldn’t find a winner so a shootout was necessary. In the shootout, Yale’s Eli Barrett would roof a backhand as the third round, putting the pressure on Liske to keep this game alive. Liske approached slowly before firing one into the glove of Spencer Hunnam (25/33), putting this offensive onslaught to rest and sealing the comeback for Yale.

Pacific Coast Hockey Academy Blue (4) vs Northern Alberta Xtreme Blue (7) U17 Prep

After being tied up for until the later half of the second, Mats Lajoie (2G, 2A) would take matters into his own hands, putting NAX Blue ahead with a solo effort just before the end of the second period. Lajoie would later add another at the start of the third, gifting NAX Blue a two goal lead. However, PCHA Blue’s Elliott Hill (2G) would strike back and tie things back up with NAX Blue, giving his team yet another chance at stealing this game from one of the division’s top teams. However, shortly after Hill’s second, Ethan Buhler would put NAX Blue back in front with his third of the year. This lead would be later built on by Blake Wilejto (1G, 1A) and sealed shut by Riley Thorpe, putting away the empty netter.

Okanagan Hockey Academy (4) vs Fairmont Hockey (5/OT) U17 Prep

OHA was able to establish a 3-1 lead halfway through the second with heavy praise to Tucker Robertson (1G, 2A) chipping in on all three tallies. However, Fairmont would quickly add two within 43-seconds before the end of the frame thanks to Alexander Raskin and Cole Bieksa. Lance McCloskey would later grant Fairmont the lead with an early goal in the third. Fairmont would hold off OHA for the greater rest of the frame. However, Tyson Schamehorn would tap home one down low with 2:54 left on the clock, forcing overtime. It didn’t take long for the hero to be found in the extra frame as Cullen Tully spotted Brady Witkin (1G, 1A) making a run at OHA’s blueline. Tully would execute a perfect stretch pass, allowing Witkin to dance in all alone and wire one through Kaleb Miller (27/32) for the overtime winner.

Delta Hockey Academy (6/SO) vs Prairie Hockey Academy (5) U18 Prep

Josh Lee would carry the puck up all by himself before roofing one shortside to give Delta the lead just 48-seconds into play. PHA would wake up after the early surrender, potting home the game’s next three tallies. Cole Brown and Caden Cail (1G, 1A) would nullify PHA’s lead, scoring twice in only 19-seconds to bring DHA back to life. From here on out, Prairie and Delta would trade goals back and forth until Grayson Salmon redirected home the final goal in regulation with 4:45 remaining on the clock. Overtime wouldn’t solve anything, leading to a four round shootout where Nickolas Kovich would come in with speed and beat Landon Garbitt (27/32) for the shootout winner.Ìý

North Shore Warriors (5) vs Pacific Coast Hockey Academy (4) U15

A quiet opening forty would lead into a back-and-forth final twenty. NSW would enter the frame up 2-1, but would lose that advantage just 1:37 into the period after going tick-for-tack with PCHA. James Koch (2G) would put NSW back ahead with a power play marker but PCHA would strike back late after Jack Crosman (1G, 1A) buried a cross crease down low with 36-seconds remaining. NSW would regroup after the late goal and go on the attack. Kenzo Gibson (2G, 2A) would come out with the puck in the right corner and whiz one past Oliver Boniface (36/41) for not only the game winner, but his 30th goal of the season, becoming the third skater to hit that margin thus far.

North Shore Warriors Orange (3) vs St. Mary’s High School (4/OT) U17 Prep

St. Mary’s High School looked down and out after a messy second period, being outshot 12-4 and succumbing twice to NSW Orange. That trend would continue early in the third, surrendering yet another off of the stick of Alex McMillan (2G). However, everything flipped come that early tally. St. Mary’s put two on the board before the halfway point of the frame, tying everything up at three. They would go on to outshoot NSW Orange 16-7 in the frame as well. Late in overtime, Michael Albert (1G, 1A) was able to net the winner and close off the comeback for St. Mary’s, taking their first game of the weekend in nail biting fashion.
