Ontario Hockey Academy (2) vs Bourget College (5) East U18
Victor Morissette-Richer scored twice including the game-winner to help Bourget College beat Ontario Hockey Academy 5-2. Nathanael Coon-Come (1G, 1A) opened the scoring for OHA with an unassisted marker five minutes into the game. Bourget responded later on in the first with Albert Genest netting his eighth goal of the season. The second period was the difference in the game with Samy Taher and Morissette-Richer (2G, 1A) finding the back of the net to give Bourget a 3-1 lead heading into the final frame. Dmitrii Novikov brought OHA within one just under seven minutes into the third. OHA had a chance to tie the game after Bourget sent them to the power play but they were unable to capitalize. 40 seconds after the penalty expired, Morrissette-Richer added some insurance for Bourget, taking a pass from Elie Robert (4A) and roofing it to restore Bourget鈥檚 two-goal advantage. Olivier Tetreault sealed Bourget鈥檚 win with an empty-net goal in the dying seconds. Robert had a big game for Bourget, finishing with four primary assists. Alexandro Montoya (34/36) turned aside 34 of the 36 shots he faced for Bourget. Oliver Kiraly (34/39) made 34 saves for OHA.听
North Shore Warriors (0) vs Delta Hockey Academy Green (7) Female U18 Prep
Molly Cole, Erica Barnard, and Sadie Isfeld each had three points in Delta Hockey Academy Green鈥檚 7-0 win over the North Shore Warriors. Delta Green controlled the play in the first, outshooting North Shore 12-2 leading to goals from Madison Batch (1G, 1A) and London McDavid. Payton Finnie (1G, 1A) added on in the second for Delta Green, scoring her 13th goal of the season. Delta Green broke it open with a four-goal third period. Molly Cole (2G, 1A) scored twice with Erica Barnard (1G, 2A) and Sadie Isfeld (1G, 2A) tacking on one each to wrap up Delta Green鈥檚 big win. Maisie Cope (17/17) recorded her second shutout of the season, stopping all 17 shots sent her way. Haylie Hedges (39/46) made 39 saves for North Shore.听
Northern Alberta Xtreme (7) vs Pilot Mound Hockey Academy (0) U18 Prep
Seven skaters had multi-point games in Northern Alberta Xtreme鈥檚 7-0 win over Pilot Mound Hockey Academy. Ben Deacon (1G, 2A) got the Xtreme on the board late in the first, making a nice move before ripping one top shelf. Aiden Trapp (59/66) held Pilot Mound in the game, making 12 stops in the first period. The Xtreme鈥檚 offensive attack heated up in the second with Michael Donovan (1G, 1A), Mason Koponyas (1G, 2A), Brady Whitehead (2G), and Grady Wedman scoring to stretch their lead out to 5-0. Carter Ellsworth (1G, 2A) potted his 19th goal of the season and Whitehead scored his second goal of the game to cap off NAX鈥檚 dominant win. Jake Walker (2A) and Kayne Wright (2A) each had a pair of assists for NAX. Tyler Swanson (13/13) picked up his second consecutive shutout, turning aside all 13 shots sent his way. Aiden Trapp made 59 saves for Pilot Mound.听
BWC Academy (5) vs Delta Hockey Academy (1) U17
Liam Kellett鈥檚 37-save performance helped BWC Academy get a 5-1 victory over Delta Hockey Academy. Michael Stewart got BWC Academy on the board just under seven minutes into the game, scoring his third goal of the season. BWC Academy tacked on a pair of goals in the second with Jaiydan Bhandri (1G, 1A) and Siwoo Lee (1G, 1A) scoring to make it 3-0. Delta replied less than a minute after Lee鈥檚 goal with Max Kobus scoring his first goal of the season. BWC Academy鈥檚 penalty kill came up big for them early in the third. Delta got a two-man advantage for the full two minutes after BWC Academy was called for hooking and tripping penalties in the same sequence. Delta pressed hard but was unable to find a way past BWC Academy鈥檚 netminder Liam Kellett (37/38), who was perfect in the third, stopping all 13 shots he faced. Kijin Cho finished off a nice two-way passing play with Josiah Lacerte midway through the third to restore BWC Academy鈥檚 three-goal lead. Jacob Napoleon put one into the yawning cage in the final minutes to close it out for BWC Academy. Blueliners Michalis Kefalas (2A) and Ashwin Manhas (2A) had two helpers in BWC Academy鈥檚 third road win of the season. Kellett stopped 37 of the 38 shots sent his way in BWC Academy鈥檚 net. Lynden Mercier (26/30) made 26 saves for Delta.听
RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg (7) vs Notre Dame (1) U17
U15 prep call-up Athens Shingoose scored twice in a big third period to help RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg get a big 7-1 victory over Notre Dame. RHA Winnipeg put the pressure on in the opening period, outshooting Notre Dame 23-3. Madden Besplug (49/56) stood tall in Notre Dame鈥檚 net, kicking out all 23 shots he faced. RHA Winnipeg was finally able to break through 13:21 into the second with Elijah Rempel scoring his seventh goal of the season. Besplug continued his busy day, stopping 12 more shots for Notre Dame in the second. RHA Winnipeg pulled away with two goals from Athens Shingoose (2G) and Atley Feniuk that came 33 seconds apart. Notre Dame got one back a few minutes later with Joe Wakabyashi striking on the power play. RHA Winnipeg鈥檚 offense kicked it into high gear after that getting goals from Tavian Barnes, Riley Bullion (1G, 1A), Nolan Rafferty, (1G, 1A) and Shingoose to seal the win. Zaiden McDonald-Horvath (22/23) turned aside 22 of the 23 shots he faced in RHA Winnipeg鈥檚 net. Besplug finished with 49 saves for Notre Dame.听
St. Mary’s Academy (3) vs Balmoral Hall School (2) Female U18 Prep
A pair of second period power play goals lifted St. Mary鈥檚 Academy to a 3-2 victory over Balmoral Hall School. Balmoral Hall got off to a quick start with Emma Power scoring the lone goal of the first. Balmoral Hall got into penalty trouble midway through the second, sending St. Mary鈥檚 to a five-on-three. With the final seconds ticking down on the first penalty, Hudson Bradley took advantage for St. Mary鈥檚, scoring her first goal of the calendar year. St. Mary鈥檚 wasn鈥檛 done there. 53 seconds later, Hannah Arnold would give her team the lead with a booming shot from the point. Balmoral Hall would get their own five-on-three chance in the third but St. Mary鈥檚 special teams would prove to be the difference again, getting a big kill to keep their one-goal lead. Reese Kartusch (1G, 1A) scored into an empty net in the final minute to give St. Mary鈥檚 some insurance. That goal would be important as Madeline McKay replied quickly for Balmoral Hall, scoring with 15 seconds left to bring her team within one. With the marker, McKay reached the 30-goal plateau. She鈥檚 the second member of the Female U18 Prep division to reach that mark joining RHA Winnipeg鈥檚 Rowyn Street. That milestone goal wouldn鈥檛 be enough for Balmoral Hall, who dropped their second game against St. Mary鈥檚 this season. Keyauna Robinson-Prefontaine (24/26) stopped 24 of the 26 shots she faced in St. Mary鈥檚 victory. Lauren Cherkas (23/26) made 23 saves for Balmoral Hall.听
South Alberta Hockey Academy (3) vs Edge School (4) U18 Prep
Brock England鈥檚 two-goal game powered Edge School to a 4-3 win over South Alberta Hockey Academy. Avery Watson got the scoring started for SAHA with just over six minutes to go in the first. Nick Wytrychowski responded for Edge in the late stages of the period, scoring 19 seconds before the buzzer sounded to end the first. SAHA retook the lead early in the second on Tyden Lafournaise鈥檚 (1G, 1A) ninth goal of the season. Edge鈥檚 offence started rolling after that, getting a goal from Reed Reschny and a shorthanded marker from Brock England (2G) to send Edge into the room with a 3-2 lead. England continued his big game in third, scoring his 25th goal of the season to give Edge a two-goal advantage. Mirco Dufour (3A) was a big part of Edge鈥檚 offensive surge, picking up the primary assist on all three of their goals in the second and third. SAHA replied quickly with Gavin Lesiuk cutting the deficit in half just over a minute later. Midway through the frame, SAHA had a huge chance to even the game up, going on a five-on-three but Edge was able to kill off both penalties. Ryley Budd (31/34) preserved the win for Edge, turning aside 12 shots in the third. Budd kicked out 31 shots in his 11th win of the season. Mattias Radke (32/36) made 32 saves in SAHA鈥檚 loss.听
Notre Dame (1) vs OHA Edmonton (3) U15 Prep
OHA Edmonton completed the weekend sweep of Notre Dame with a 3-1 win. Steven Leavitt opened the scoring for OHA Edmonton 3:22 into the game with his 13th goal of the season. A few minutes later, Duke Lesnar responded for Notre Dame, putting home his 13th goal of the year. Liam Huxley was the difference-maker for OHA Edmonton, scoring 4:57 into the second to give them a 2-1 lead. Ben Meyer (37/39) kept Notre Dame in the game, kicking out 21 shots in the middle frame. Notre Dame had lots of opportunities on the man advantage throughout the game, including a five-on-three in the third but they were unable to convert. Notre Dame finished the game 0-for-8 on the power play. Brayden Tucker put the game away for OHA Edmonton with an empty-net goal. Tucker is the third member of OHA Edmonton to reach the 20-goal plateau this season. OHA Edmonton鈥檚 Owen Amyotte (16/17) turned aside 16 shots, including all seven he faced in the third. Notre Dame鈥檚 Meyer had a strong game, stopping 37 of the 39 shots he faced.听
Ulysse Academie (5) vs Ontario Hockey Academy (3) East U17
Ulysse Academie got their first victory of the CSSHL season with a 5-3 win over Ontario Hockey Academy. Ulysse jumped out to a 2-0 lead with goals from Anthony Marcone and Sebastien Dupont in the opening period. Ulysse doubled their lead in the second with an even-strength marker from Thomas Daoust and a shorthanded goal from Eloi Lagasse (1G, 1A). OHA fought back early in the third. Marton Loschnig and Xavier Blouin cut Ulysse鈥檚 lead in half with a pair of goals in the first 5:05 of the period. The game flipped back in Ulysse鈥檚 favour due to some stellar special teams play. A few minutes after OHA made it 4-2, Ulysse killed off a five-on-three that was nearly two minutes long. After that key kill, Ulysse got a power play opportunity of their own and Maxime Vernier (1G, 1A) was able to capitalize. OHA responded quickly with a goal from Bentley Bobbish 23 seconds later but that would be the closest they would get. Francis Paradis (28/31) was the winning netminder for Ulysse, turning aside 28 of the 31 shots sent his way. Mathis Bernier (44/49) made 44 saves for OHA.听
St. George’s School (3) vs Shawnigan Lake School (1) U15 Prep
St. George鈥檚 School got on the board in the first minute and never looked back in a 3-1 win over Shawnigan Lake School. Holden Wouters continued his great weekend, scoring 46 seconds in to give St. George鈥檚 an early advantage. Zach Lam added on for St. George鈥檚, potting his ninth goal of the season midway through the first. St. George鈥檚 held a large territorial edge in the first and that continued in the middle frame, outshooting Shawnigan Lake 24-10. That pressure led to a late period goal from Bradey Ching to put St. George鈥檚 up 3-0. Donagh Esler-Twiss (58/61) was sharp in the second for Shawnigan Lake, turning aside 23 shots. Shawnigan Lake gave their netminder some support in the third with Darwin Ketch scoring on a power play. Shawnigan Lake continued to ramp up their game, sending 18 shots toward the St. George鈥檚 goal in the period. Kole Anderosov (32/33) held firm for St. George鈥檚, making 17 saves in the final frame. Anderosov kicked out 32 shots in St. George鈥檚 win. Essler-Twiss stopped 58 of the 61 shots he faced in a losing effort for Shawnigan Lake.听
Mount Academy (3) vs King’s Edgehill School (4/SO) East U18
King鈥檚 Edgehill School erased a three-goal deficit to beat Mount Academy 4-3 in a shootout. Zachary Drachler got the scoring started for Mount Academy midway through the first. Mount tacked on in the second with Jansen Guitard and Cohen Paul finding the back of the net to take a 3-0 lead heading into the final period. King鈥檚 Edgehill鈥檚 comeback bid began early in the period with Liam Nash (2G) scoring 30 seconds in. King鈥檚 Edgehill put on heavy pressure in the third, sending 21 shots toward Mount鈥檚 net. Nash cashed in on that pressure, scoring his second goal of the game with 6:39 to play. King鈥檚 Edgehill continued to push and were rewarded with the equalizer by Grady Betts with 18 seconds to go. Overtime didn鈥檛 provide a winner so the contest headed to a shootout. Riko Salutskij was the difference-maker, scoring the lone goal of the shootout in the second round for King鈥檚 Edgehill. Keaton Pardy (31/34) stopped all three shooters in the skills competition to secure King Edgehill鈥檚 victory. Pardy turned aside 31 shots in the game. William Talbot (39/42) made 39 saves for Mount.听
Bishop’s College School (14) vs Mount Academy (0) East U17
It was all Bishop鈥檚 in this one as they put up 14 goals Saturday. Dax Doiron (20/20) made 20 saves for the shutout while Mavrik Legault (3G, 1A) and Jan Vladar (3G, 2A) each recorded hat-tricks. Grady Cohen (2G, 2A) and Gavin Rusenstrom (4A) each tallied four points in the win.听
St. George’s School (2) vs Shawnigan Lake School (3) U18 Prep
A power play goal by Weston Ebrahim gave Shawnigan Lake the lead midway through the opening period. Despite being outshot 27-14, they would continue to hold that lead into the third period. In the final frame Easton Sangris doubled the lead and Vincent Croteau added another Shawnigan power play goal to extend the lead. St. George鈥檚 would finally break through less than a minute later as Brock Cripps beat Liam Ryan (43/45) for a power play goal of his own. Charlie Weaver would score unassisted 40 seconds after that to bring his team within one as St. George鈥檚 looked to mount a late comeback. Ultimately, Shawnigan would hold on as Ryan finished with 43 saves for the win.听听
Okanagan Hockey Ontario (4) vs CIH Academy (5/OT) East U18
CIH Academy outshot OHO 14-9 in the first and grabbed a 1-0 lead on a goal from Andrew Mark (2G). Eric Mosquin doubled the CIH Academy lead 2:54 into the second but OHO countered with goals from Philippe Walsh and Tom Garas to even the score. Moritz Trebo put OHO ahead 1:57 into the third and Jacob Zilber gave them a two goal cushion midway through the period. OHO looked as though they would hold on until Mark and Nikita Marinin (2G) scored 1:13 apart in the final four minutes to tie the game and send it to overtime. In OT, Marinin completed the CIH Academy comeback 1:26 in with his second of the game and ninth of the season. Noah Vidal (40/44) and Drew Osinga (50/55) were in net for their respective teams.听
North Shore Warriors (5) vs St. George’s School (6/OT) U15
Despite a total of 21 shots being fired on goal in the first neither team was able to find the back of the net. That would change drastically in the second as the two teams combine for seven goals in the middle frame. Liam McLean, Luca Rogers (2G, 2A) and Nick Hill (2G, 1A) scored for St. George鈥檚 while Oliver Demarco, Rex Norman (2G) and Mattias Gallina countered for North Shore. Ethan Naude tied the game 1:01 into the third and Norman gave North Shore their first lead of the hockey game 1:08 later. The back-and-forth battle continued as Hill tied the game late to force overtime. In OT, defenseman Hudson Lesk (1G, 3A) scored his 21st goal of the season to give St. George鈥檚 the 6-5 victory Saturday evening. Jonah Gamble (40/45) and Benjamin Boudreau (29/35) were in net for their respective teams.听
RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna (1) vs Delta Hockey Academy (5) U15 Prep
Quinn Coupland (35/36) and Gunner Podollan (33/38) kept clean sheets in the first period before Kyler Stocks opened the scoring for RHA Kelowna 1:51 into the second. Delta would respond with five unanswered, starting with defenseman Charlie Leonard and Ryker Doka scoring less than three minutes apart. Colton Brum (1G, 2A) would close out the second with his 19th and Ethan Kitchen (1G, 1A) and Casey Pearson (1G, 1A) added third period goals to round out the scoring.听
Yale Hockey Academy (2) vs BWC Academy (4) U18 Prep
BWC Academy would grab a 2-0 first period lead as Gianni Bosa scored an even strength marker and Jonathan Bitonti (1G, 1A) added a power play goal. Matthew Dowdall countered 1:54 into the third with a power play goal of his own but Grayson Tash (1G, 1A) scored his first goal of the season midway through the period to restore the two goal lead. Lukas Lima (1G, 1A) gave BWC Academy more breathing room with his 14th of the season 7:25 into the final period. Gus Schill would quickly reply for Yale with another power play goal but his team was unable to generate a 5-on-5 goal and fell by a score of 4-2. Adler Ames (51/53) was outstanding in net, making 51 saves for the win. Nathan Kam (40/44) made 40 saves in the loss.
