GAME DAY RECAP: October 21, 2023

North Shore Warriors (5) vs BWC Academy (9) U15 Prep

Declan Iacoviello (2G, 1A) opened the scoring just 17-seconds in, immediately establishing momentum in BWC Academy鈥檚 favour. Nash Dickson (2G) and Chase Vossenaar (1G, 1A) would bring NSW back into the game early in the second until BWC Academy unleashed a three goal flurry capped off by Jayden Simpson (4G, 2A) before the end of the second. BWC Academy would add another four in the third, including an empty net for Simpson鈥檚 fourth goal of the day and 11th of the season.

Pacific Coast Hockey Academy (3) vs Okanagan Hockey Academy (11) U15

OHA was led by Joel Parker (4G, 1A) in this offensive display. Seven skaters picked up multi-point efforts over PCHA. Emilio de la O Ruiz found the back of the net for PCHA with his team leading fourth goal of the season.

Pacific Coast Hockey Academy (2) vs Delta Hockey Academy Black (5) U15 Prep

Delta Black took off in the second period after surrendering the first to PCHA鈥檚 Kieran Wilson. Leonardo Lee (1G, 1A) sparked the frenzy with a powerplay marker before Kesler Curtis (2G) potted his first of the morning. Delta Black would score five straight before surrendering a second to PCHA in the third for the routine victory. Logan Jones (26/28) made 26-saves in the win.

Okanagan Hockey Academy Black (4) vs Pacific Coast Hockey Academy White (1) U17 Prep

Tobie Gilchrist would open the scoring for PCHA White with an early second period tally. OHA Black would storm back for four unanswered after peppering PCHA White with 19-shots in the second. Landon Nagle (2G) would cap off the game with two goals to put the game out of reach at Westhills Arena.听

St. George’s School (2) vs RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna (0) U15

A goaltending effort from Carter Adams (29/29) secured the victory for St. George鈥檚 Saturday afternoon. Adams would turn away 14-shots in the second period and another 7 in the third all while fending off five powerplays in the process too. Felix Hang would score the game winner in the second while Logan Okamura found the insurance marker on the powerplay in the third.

Ulysse Academie (5) vs Mount Academy (1) Eastern U17

Matthew Evancusky (57/62) made 57-saves in a hard fought loss against Ulysse Academy. Felix Maltais (2G, 1A) led the offensive charge from the blueline while Maceo Bustamante (3A) provided helpers on three goals.听

North Shore Warriors (2) vs OHA Edmonton (4) U15

OHA Edmonton continues their strong display in Penticton as they pick up their third win of the showcase. Brayden Tucker would ignite the scoring with a shorthanded goal while being draped over by NSW defenders. Ethan Mah (1G, 1A) would draw things back to even early in the second for NSW but Kaedyn Scherer would quickly respond to take the lead back for OHA Edmonton. Cohenn Rotar (1G, 1A) would score one late to put things out of reach for NSW. Despite the loss, Ashton Sims (45/49) made 45-saves in an effort to keep his team afloat through this 60-minute battle.

Pilot Mound Hockey Academy (3) vs Notre Dame (4/SO) U17 Prep

Notre Dame and Pilot Mound would trade one goal a piece in each period this afternoon. Devyn Tarlton would put PMHA up with 6:46 left in the game but a quick tap-in by Carter Hudyma (2G) the other way would force an overtime and an eventual shootout. Notre Dame鈥檚 Ryder Gilroy would score on their second attempt with a snipe over the glove of Piet Mierau (31/34). Sam Koester (29/32) would shut down all three PMHA shooters and secure Notre Dame the victory.

Ulysse Academie (2) vs Mount Academy (7) Eastern U18

Mount Academy鈥檚 powerplay was the winning factor in Saturday鈥檚 affair, going 4/8 in the afternoon. Ulysse Academy would score two powerplay goals for themselves to tie things up at two before the end of the first, but Mount Academy鈥檚 perseverance lasted through the next 40-minutes of play for five unanswered goals to easily wrap things up. Brandon Gauthier (2G, 1A) was the main contributor for Mount Academy in the win.

Pilot Mound Hockey Academy (1) vs RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg (3) Female U18 Prep

Avery Nikirk opened the scoring just 2:17 into the game to give PMHA an early lead. RHA Winnipeg鈥檚 Camille Birch (2G) would close that gap shortly after and bring her club back into the game. Rowyn Street scored what would be the game winner in the second while Birch supplied the insurance marker just 21-seconds later.听

BWC Academy (0) vs Northern Alberta Xtreme (10) U15

NAX continues to show their dominance in the U15 division with another standout victory, this time over BWC Academy. The two Eastons, Doran (2G, 2A) and Arndt (3G) put up impressive stat-lines in the win while Dawson Sheehan (16/16) kept the gates closed and rode out a shutout to put the cherry on top.

Ontario Hockey Academy Prep (1) vs Bourget College (3) Eastern U18

A strong third period was the difference maker for Bourget College in this tightly knit Eastern matchup Saturday afternoon. Krystopher Roy would score halfway through the third for his fourth consecutive game with a goal, while Merlin Offman provided a powerplay goal just 6:20 later to put the game out of reach for OHA Prep.

BWC Academy White (6) vs Coeur d鈥橝lene Hockey Academy Navy (1) U17 Prep

Dominic Seminoff (3G) would provide a hat-trick to help push BWC Academy White for their second win with a five goal spread over CDA Navy. Despite the loss, Mark Michelson (71/77) played his heart out with a 71-save performance, stopping 20+ shots in each period played. Davis Tomczak would break the shutout late in the third to put CDA Navy on the board.

Delta Hockey Academy (3) vs Notre Dame (2) U15

Joven Kalkat (1G,1A) opened the scoring with the lone first period goal before Notre Dame grabbed a 2-1 second period lead on goals from Seth Hantelman and Eben Newman. Ethan Kitchen (2G) would respond for Delta near the end of the second. Kitchen would score again 1:30 into the third and Jack Utsunomiya (29/31) shut the door the rest of the way as Delta held on for a 3-2 win. Aidan Dale (40/43) made 40 saves in the loss.听

Pilot Mound Hockey Academy (5) vs Notre Dame (1) U18 Prep

After a scoreless first Kalix Monkman (2G, 2A) and Jean-Mikael L-Heureux scored second period goals for PMHA. Austin Polonoski, Monkman and Quinton Lepage would extend the lead in the third as PMHA began to pull away. Lucas Hillier-Huot ended the Quinn Burfoot (17/18) shutout bid with just 1:01 remaining.听

Ulysse Academie (10) vs Mount Academy (3) Eastern U17

In their second game of the day Ulysse would defeat Mount Academy 10-3. Ismael Legault (2G, 2A), Felix Maltais (2G), Antoine Rodier (2) and Tommy Roy (2G) all scored two goals in the victory. Jonathan Morin, Sebastien Savoie and Mark Tverskoy would score for Mount in the loss.听

Shawnigan Lake School (3) vs Delta Hockey Academy Green (15) U15 Prep

Caden Leibel (3G, 2A) recorded a hat-trick, Wyatt Callander (2G, 2A), Daniel Havard (2G), and Kishan Saggu (2G, 2A) each scored twice and Dylan Hurren (4A) added four assists as Delta Green defeated Shawnigan Lake 15-3. Darwin Ketch (1G, 1A), Carson Peet (1G, 1A) and Henri Zhao scored for Shawnigan in the loss.

Coeur d鈥橝lene Hockey Academy (3) vs Wenatchee Wild Hockey Academy (2) U18 Prep

James Ghebbari (2G) and CJ Watson scored first period goals for CDA and Ghebbari would score another in the second as his team led 3-0 midway through the second. Cameron Kimmerly would get Wenatchee on the board late in the second and Joe Marranzino (1G, 1A) would bring them within one midway through the third but Zane Hill (16/18) would shut the door on any comeback attempt.听

Rink Hockey Academy Kelowna Red (10) vs North Shore Warriors Orange (4) U17 Prep

RHA Kelowna outshot North Shore Orange 49-23 en route to a 10-4 victory. Porter Rossi (2G) and Rhett Tubello (2G, 1A) each scored twice while defenseman Maxon Reed (3A) had three assists. Santino Esposito (1G, 2A) and Noah Russo (2G, 1A) each had three points in the loss.听

Yale Hockey Academy (2) vs Edge School (3/OT) U15

Chasen Robson opened the scoring with a first period goal as Edge led 1-0 after 20. Matthew McGuinness would tie the game in the second with his first of the season. Ellis Martschuk gave Edge a third period lead but Ethan Manan would tie the game just 19 seconds later to force OT. In overtime Nolen Miller would come streaking down the right wing and fire a shot lower blocker to beat Mason Sutherland (30/33) and give Edge a 3-2 win.听

 

Yale Hockey Academy (3) vs Okanagan Hockey Academy (2) U15 Prep

Despite outshooting OHA 23-13 Yale found themselves down 2-0 after 40 thanks to goals from Kolton Denich and Jaxson Bartsch. But in the third YHA would finally break through as Gavin Bradley got his team on the board and Gavin Selinger (1G, 1A) tied the game with 38 seconds remaining. After OT solved nothing, Ollie Reed, Bradley and Shaun Hildebrandt would all score in the shootout to complete the Yale comeback victory.

St. George’s School (9) vs RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna (5) U15 Prep

Jacob Schwartz (4G, 1A) tallied five points and Brock Cripps (1G, 2A) continued his tear of the U15 Prep division as St. George鈥檚 defeated RHA Kelowna 9-5. Noah Fowler (3A), Louis Oscar Holowaychuk (1G, 2A) and Jordan Martiniuk (1G, 2A) all had three points of their own in the win. Ronin Martin (2G) scored twice for RHA Kelowna in the loss, who are still looking for their first win of the season after making it to the finals of the 2023 CSSHL Western Championships.听

South Alberta Hockey Academy (1) vs Northern Alberta Xtreme (5) U18 Prep

Josh Evaschesen opened the scoring but NAX would score five unanswered to secure a 5-1 win. Luke Powell (2G, 1A) tied the game in the first before affiliate defenseman Hubert Clarke (2G) scored twice in the second. Powell would add a shorthanded goal in the third and Lukas Kaplan (1G, 1A) would secure the win with his fifth of the season. Jordan Switzer (16/17) and Beck Boiteau (30/35) were in net for their respective teams.听

Pacific Coast Hockey Academy (3) vs Shawnigan Lake School (5) U18 Prep

Ryker Rougeau and Grady Sluggett scored two minutes apart as PCHA led 2-0 midway through the first but Brendyn Van Oene (2G, 2A) and would score late in the first and Joshua Polak (1G, 1A) would tie the game in the second with a power play goal. Matthew Jackson would give Shawnigan the lead with a short handed third period goal before Parker MacDougall tied the game minutes later on the power play. Van Oene would score the eventual game winner with nine minutes remaining and Chase Kittleson would score a late insurance marker.

STAR Hockey Academy (3) vs Wenatchee Wild Hockey Academy (6) U15

Guest showcase team Wenatchee improved to 3-0-0 with a 6-3 win over STAR Hockey Academy Saturday night. Akira Ota (3G, 1A), Bryden Wagner (3G, 1A) and Luke Healy provided the offence for Wenatchee while Steven Jones (25/28) made 25 saves. Nathan Langhelm (1G, 1A), Daniel Makovetskiy (1G, 1A) and Daniel Trifunovic countered for STAR. Erik Sims (34/40) was in net for the loss.
